Chapter 460: Passing the Lantern Festival (Part II)

With the arrival of Su Wen and others, the lantern festival also officially began. Pen & Fun & Pavilion www.biquge.info

At this time, the sky was completely dark, but the Jingxin Temple was still brightly lit, and it seemed to be a little brighter than the lantern festival under the mountain.

First of all, many laymen and pilgrims were divided into 28 columns, each two columns were headed by a monk, followed by three or four monks, followed by many laymen, thousands of people stood in 28 columns, each column was about 40 people, standing in front and watching, neatly and neatly a group of people, the scene was quite spectacular.

If you are an ordinary person, you can't say that you have to have some pride in your heart.

However, Su Wen's heart was unwavering, and there were no ripples at all, as if there was nothing in front of him.

The eyes swept over everyone's face, but everyone didn't look, as if they were cast directly into the distant night through everyone.

A few little guys ran past the front of the crowd, shaking their heads to look left and right, attracting the attention of many pilgrims in the queue.

Jelly Bean first found a place to sit down in front of the crowd, and then didn't know if he felt inappropriate, so after going around a few times, he ran to sit there behind Su Wen, and looked at everyone with his mouth open, as if the leader was inspecting, which made many people smile.

After everyone stood up, Su Wen stood alone at the front and led everyone to recite "Praise of Incense" and "Great Compassion Mantra".

With Su Wen's voice, everyone was in harmony, and the sound rushed up from the Baiyun Mountainside, and above was the brilliant starry sky, I don't know if there is a god or Buddha there who will cast their eyes when they hear the voice.

This was followed by the recitation of the "Prayer Text" under the leadership of Dao Yan, which was the focus of this lantern puja.

"Since ancient times, lamps have represented the meaning of bringing light, warmth, and direction in the midst of darkness."

Su Wen spoke slowly in front of everyone.

The miracle of Su Wen, the abbot of Jingxin Temple, has one thing that makes people always wonder is that no matter how many people, hundreds, thousands, or even thousands of people, Su Wen's voice can be delivered to everyone's ears.

Normal people know that sound is decreasing and weakened in the air. As the distance increases, the sound becomes quieter.

The voice of a normal person can be heard more than ten meters in an open place, and if it is far away, it will be shouted.

And Su Wen did not speak loudly like many people, but in a plain and extremely gentle voice. But within 100 meters, there is almost no attenuation, which can be accurately heard by everyone.

This has been noticed by many pilgrims during several pujas.

It's just that Su Wen has shown extremely strange places many times, so this point is often ignored by people, and looking back, it only proves that Su Wen is different.

At first, when Su Wen was preaching, he used the gas emitted by his body to send the sound directly to everyone's brains, and the voice naturally would not weaken. But if you speak ordinarily, you still have to be very loud.

But as the practice became more and more profound, many strange things began to manifest themselves. Now, for example, just by opening a sentence, the sound is transmitted within 100 meters as if it violates the laws of physics without any attenuation.

If ordinary people do this kind of thing, there must be countless people who want to explore the reason.

But Su Wen, the abbot of a temple like Su Wen, does this kind of thing, but it will only make people think about supernatural powers and the like, but it will not make people have too much curiosity, at least in the cognition of ordinary people in China.

After asking a word, everyone focused on his words before continuing: "Ordinary people can attain peace by lighting a lamp of peace devoutly, but they also have different feelings depending on the depth of their piety, the size of their own blessings, and the severity of their karma. ”

"But what really matters is in our hearts, not in the tangible material.

The scriptures say: 'Self-lamp is bright, Dharma lamp is bright.' ''Self-lamp', taking one's own Buddha-nature as the lamp and the light, relying on the light of one's own Buddha-nature; 'Dharma lamp', Dharma is Dharma, with Dharma as the lamp, as the light, relying on the light of the Dharma, not relying on anything, not relying on anything else, this is the purpose of our lamp. ”

"The lamp itself is light, and the light symbolizes wisdom, and with wisdom we can break the darkness of foolishness, as the saying goes, 'A lamp can remove a thousand years of darkness, and a wisdom can break through ten thousand years of foolishness.'" ”

Su Wen said this, so that everyone felt in their hearts.

He doesn't want the following believers to always pin their hopes on the gods and Buddhas, and ask the gods and Buddhas for their blessings if there are any problems in life.

Therefore, he would take the trouble to repeat every puja, telling everyone that the goal of self-nature is to be clear. To study Buddhism and practice Buddhism is to explore one's own heart, to clarify oneself, to see practice as the way to find all this, and finally to find the way to liberation.

No matter which one or which sect, it is for this purpose. It's just that the methods are different.

So far, he's doing it. At least the many monks in the Pure Heart Temple are not dead to the Buddha, and many good believers are just practicing silently, and rarely talk about "Buddha" every day.

This is a point where the habits of the laymen of the East China Sea are very different from those of other regions, and they are influenced by Suwen and have the bright colors of the Pure Heart Temple.

After some teachings, it was the most important part of the puja – passing the lamp.

First of all, Su Wen took a lotus candle to the lamp offering in front of the Buddha in the main hall, lit the lamp, and then returned to the front of everyone.

Next, Dao Ji Dade and Dao Yan, Tianru, Xiuyan, Decheng and other masters took a lamp to Su Wen's hand in turn and lit it, and then exchanged it with the candle lamp in the hand of the monk behind him. The monks then exchanged the unlit candles with the monks behind them, and then exchanged the unlit candles with the lamps in the hands of the masters, so that the lamps in the hands of many monks were always newly lit.

The whole scene was solemn, and thousands of people were silent.

It is not a lamp, it is the Dharma, it is wisdom, it is light, and everyone understands the meaning and expectation.

Standing above and looking down, I saw that the ground in the temple was lit up at first, then at two o'clock, at ten o'clock, at one hundred o'clock, at one thousand o'clock, and at one thousand o'clock, the whole ground was lit up with a little light, as if the starry sky was reflected on the ground.

The feelings of the people below are also different. Although it is a lotus candle lamp, it looks ordinary, but it feels warm in the hand, as if the heat has passed from the lamp to the palm and then to the body.

In a solemn atmosphere, countless people are doing the same actions as themselves, and they are all the same people in the field, at least in their pursuits. Coupled with the warm feeling coming from his hands, everyone felt less cold in this night, and felt that he was so close to everyone around him.

Many people are in a trance, as if they see themselves floating and sinking in the sea of suffering, and there are countless people around them. And in the distance, a little light pointed the way in the direction of everyone.

It feels like a person who has traveled far away at sea and sees a lighthouse in the midst of a storm, a warm harbor, the way forward.

After a series of ceremonies, Su Wen took the lead, and everyone lined up in a long line and circled the entire temple. From the main hall on the first floor, to the guest hall on the second floor, the martial arts arena on the third floor, the lecture hall, and the four-story dining hall, after going around the entire temple, return to the main hall again.

Everyone handed over the candles in their hands to the mage in front, and the mage arranged the candles in front of them into four big characters of "Buddha's light shines" and a "big lotus seat", and several swastikas were dotted around it.

During this period, only the monks of the temple interspersed in the crowd to take the Buddha lanterns, and then the monks visited in front, while many lay people took out their mobile phones to take pictures on the side.

Finally, Su Wen made a congratulatory speech:

"I hope everyone can light the lamp of the soul as soon as possible,

So that everyone can find their true nature in time.

I hope that everyone can take care of each other and benefit each other;

I hope that everyone can continue to shine the lights and make the best of the future. ”

There was nothing miraculous happening at this festival, it was different from all previous festivals, but this festival had a different meaning for the people of the Pure Heart Temple, especially for Su Wen.

The Passing the Lantern Festival originally represents the transmission of the Dharma from generation to generation, and from generation to generation, with an emphasis on one of the "transmission" characters.

Su Wen also decided to spread Zen Buddhism to other places after the Lantern Festival, rather than living in a corner of the world.

The first target, Kyoto.
