Chapter 237: The Promise of Qixia Temple
The matter of the abbot of the Gaozao Temple made Su Wen not in the mood to visit again, and went all the way to the direction of Qixia Temple at night.
These days, I have seen Master Jinglian stay in Huajie for decades, just to give a glimmer of hope to those at the bottom, and I have also seen Master Xingyuan in order to resolve a grievance, give up Buddhism and become a dead soul to stay in one place for hundreds of years, and there are dumb monks who leave this world cleanly after entrusting the inheritance, and then look at the abbot of the Lingshan Temple and the abbot of the Gaozao Temple, it is inevitable that people will be a little disappointed.
The same rice raises a hundred kinds of people, and the same is true in Buddhism. There are both virtuous and virtuous monks, and there are also people who are greedy and blinded, and it is inevitable that there will be such people who think they are shrewd. Not only them, but there are also many people who have ruined the reputation of Buddhism in history.
For example, the Changsheng Bank, which was originally only a surplus of alms from a large number of believers, was lent to the surrounding people at low or no interest in the year of famine, which was regarded as a kind of social relief. But later, a few monasteries even used this name to collect money, making it a usury, which attracted a lot of stigma for Buddhism. Even in modern times, there are often people who use this to attack Buddhism.
After one night, several people got up early in the morning of the second day and rushed to Qixia Temple.
Early in the morning, just over six o'clock, Su Wen went to the foot of Qixia Mountain, thought that Qixia Temple was to send a few people down the mountain to greet him, but from a distance, he saw that there were two or three hundred people waiting there with a guard of honor, all the monks were wearing robes, a look of dress.
And there are more than 100 people in ordinary clothes around, who are pilgrims who go up the mountain, and they all stay here to watch when they see the honor guards here.
Seeing Su Wen and a few people coming, Xinghui hurriedly ran behind Su Wen: "Abbot, they were waiting here an hour ago, and they didn't listen to me no matter how I persuaded them." ”
Su Wen immediately felt that there must be something wrong here, the string of Buddhist beads that Xingyuan let himself bring back was probably much more important than he thought, otherwise the other party's formation would not be so grand, and it was even more a guard of honor, and ordinary people definitely did not have this kind of treatment.
Seeing this, he asked Xingzang to take the string of hanging beads out of the package.
There were more than a dozen monks standing at the front of the honor guard, all of whom were not young, and Su Wen was estimated to be the elders and deacons in the temple. One of them stood in the middle, holding a crate in his hand.
A middle-aged monk next to him walked over quickly, and first asked Chong Su respectfully, "Thank you, Senior Brother Gao Yi." Then he took the Buddha bead from Su Wen's hand, carefully examined it in his hand, sniffed it again, put it back in Su Wen's hand, and then ran back to the passerby's side.
"Welcome to the relics of the ancestors." The first man shouted in a deep voice, and then led the group forward.
"Welcome to the relics of the ancestors." All the monks shouted in unison behind them, and the guard of honor was raised at the same time, and everyone stood on both sides, and the scene was solemn. The surrounding pilgrims stopped talking, and many took pictures with their mobile phones.
Su walked in front of everyone step by step, first put the Buddha beads in the treasure box held by the other party, and then gave a proper salute to the other party.
The person holding the treasure box was a thin monk, bowed his head and bowed and said to Su Wen: "Thank you for your high righteousness, please follow me up the mountain, and explain this matter to you after the ceremony."
Su Wen also said: "That's exactly how it should be." ”
Then Su Wen and the others followed the group up the mountain, and when they passed by the honor guard, they glanced at both sides, and found that the monks of Qixia Temple had clear eyes and peaceful faces, and they were all good manners. Born from the heart, Buddhism is even more so. Everyone has such a dignified appearance, it can be seen that this Qixia Temple is indeed a place of pure heart cultivation, far from being comparable to Lingshan Temple and Gaozao Temple. Then I opened the eye of heaven and swept it on everyone's foreheads, and sure enough, most of them contained five colors, and a few people were also mixed in numbers, and most of them were probably stronger than the abbot of the Gaozao Temple.
In fact, because some things were not a place for preaching in the early years, the temple was abandoned for decades and was only allowed to be visited as a monument. A few years ago, the Jinling Tourism Bureau arranged for people to start running it again, so what kind of monks can there be? Most of the people in Jinling knew about it, but they didn't expect it.
After everyone went up the mountain, the guards of honor on both sides followed, and finally the others and the pilgrims.
When they arrived in Qixia Temple, someone first led Su Wen and others to the guest hall, and then they heard the noise of gongs and drums outside, and it took a long time to calm down.
After a while, the door of the guest hall opened, and the thin monk walked in first, followed by seven or eight mages in robes.
"Thank you to a few Gao Yi of Jingxin Temple for sending back the relics of the patriarch, and the whole of Qixia Temple is grateful." The thin monk came in and said, his voice was full of energy, like Hong Zhong, which did not match the thin figure.
"Buddhism is a family, this is a small thing. What's more, Xingyuan Dade's righteous deeds are also admirable. Su Wen and the others stood up and replied.
"It's a small thing for you, but it's a great favor for me in Qixia Temple." The thin monk said again: "The abbot of the poor monk Qixia Temple, I have seen you. ”
Then he introduced the people behind him, and sure enough, as Su Wen thought, they were all deacons in Qixia Temple. The abbot and the deacons came to receive Su Wen and others, which also gave enough face.
"The poor monk Jingxin Temple asked, these two are the poor monk's senior brother Daoyan and Hui Xuan, as well as the disciples Xingzang and Xinghui, as well as my newly accepted lay disciple Ma Tian."
After the introductions of the two sides, everyone sat down on both sides, and the Fa Xiang said: "I would also like to ask Master Su to inform me in detail about the Xingyuan Patriarch, I would be grateful." ”
Su Wen nodded, and then told about the incident of going to the mountain village to meet the goddess to exorcise ghosts, as well as what happened later.
After listening to Su Wen's words, Fa Xiangcai said: "You may be puzzled by today's honor guard, it stands to reason that people in my Buddhism should not act so publicly. But there are some reasons for it. ”
Without waiting for Su to ask, Fa Xiang first opened his mouth to solve everyone's doubts: "First, the ancestor of Xingyuan is a genius who is not born in my sect, whether it is righteous understanding, personal practice or the cause of promoting the Dharma and benefiting people, it is the best at that time.
During his time, the temple was quite prosperous for a while, so the inheritance of the sect was also worn by him. One day, Xingyuan Patriarch thought about it quietly, and set out to walk in the world, which could not only enter the red dust to temper the Taoist heart, but also participate in the wisdom and perseverance, so he ordered the temple affairs and left alone.
Who knew that this sentence would become an eternal secret. The whereabouts of the patriarch are a mystery, and the disciples of all generations have paid attention to it, but I think it is the fate of the law, until today, you and the mages are tired, and you will not know the end. ”
Su Wen nodded and said: "Master Xingyuan is indeed a great virtue for my Buddhism, and in order to resolve a grievance, he has been forced to stay in the world for hundreds of years, and he must be a husband." It's a pity that I didn't do my best work.
Fa Xiang Chongsu asked with a smile and said, "This string of hand beads has an extraordinary origin. It is a portable ritual instrument brought by Master Kumarosh from the Western Regions to the Central Plains during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and it is rumored to be an artifact of the Madhyamaka lineage of Nagarjuna Bodhisattva in ancient India.
Later, Master Rosh passed on to the eldest disciple Seng Zhao, Master Seng Zhao died young, before his death gave his junior brother Seng Rui, Seng Rui will hand beads and three treatises to pass on to Dao Lang, Dao Lang to Seng Lang, Seng Lang to Sang, Sangha to Fa Lang, and then to Jiaxiang Jizang Patriarch, officially opened the sect, this hand bead has become a transmission weapon, is my three treatises of the Dharma to pass on the token.
To outsiders, it may not be of concern, but it does mean a lot to the sect. Thanking the great grace of all the masters, this treasure will be returned to our temple, and the poor monks and other disciples of the Three Treatises are inscribed in the five! ”
As he spoke, he and the people behind him stood up and saluted Su Wen and the others.
Su Wen and the others hurriedly folded their salutes and said, "Don't dare!" I didn't think that this hand bead has such a history, this must be the mercy of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and the blessing of your ancestors, so that the jewel returns, we are just waiting for its meeting, how dare you take credit! ”
After everyone sat down again, the Dharma Minister said, "No matter what, the love of the Dharma Master and the disciples of this temple are in mind. If we are sent, as long as we do not violate the precepts of Buddhism, we are duty-bound. ”
Seeing that the other party is so solemn, and listening to the other party's words, the words are sincere, and Su Wen knows that the other party is a person who can be friends. You must know that the other party is the abbot of a temple, and he is hundreds of people in the whole temple, which is not an ordinary lonely person's casual promise. And seeing that the other party made such a promise, and no one behind him objected, he knew that the other party had a very high prestige in the temple. At the beginning of Zen Buddhism, with this strong support, there was a lot less trouble in the future, and there were people who could help one or two when something happened, which was an unexpected joy, and it was really a cycle of cause and effect.
I took the cause of Xingyuan in a small mountain village, and this Qixia Temple is the fruit. (To be continued.) )
