Chapter 374: Teaching the Fa (II)
"What is meditation?
Let's start with this Zen word, which can be translated as "meditation" (quiet thinking) or "thinking practice" (the cultivation of thinking).
To be clear: it is the process of thinking in a state of physical and mental tranquility.
For example, we Zen Buddhists often say that someone "Zen enlightenment" comes out of something, which means that this person has comprehended some philosophy in deep thinking.
It refers to concentrating the "mind" on one state to achieve a mental state that is not scattered.
To be clear, "concentration" is an incredibly "super-high" state of concentration that the "mind" has been trained to acquire, that is, the acquisition of a skill.
The difference between meditation and concentration is that all the practices of meditation and concentration are collectively called 'concentration'.
'Determination' is a kind of spiritual realm. Zen, on the other hand, refers to the process of in-depth contemplation of an object.
Therefore, 'Zen' is a process of contemplation.
In other words, 'concentration' is the root of 'Zen', and if you can't concentrate in your mind, it's full of all kinds of distracting thoughts, so how can you concentrate on thinking about things?
So it can also be said that it must be a tool.
Meditation is a way to make it easier for you to think about things. ”
Su Wen didn't use any amplification equipment, and his voice spread through the entire lecture hall to thousands of people. This time it wasn't because of his special abilities, but because of the special structure of the lecture hall. Not only him, but also when other mages preached, although it could not achieve his effect, it could also make half of the people in the venue hear what was said.
"Meditation is not only useful for people in Buddhist practice, but also for ordinary people. When you get rid of all the clutter in your head, you can concentrate on thinking about the problem, and no matter what you are thinking, it will have a multiplier effect with half the effort.
In fact, there are similar methods in all sects and religions, whether it is mantra holding, prayer, prayer, or chanting, the final effect is the same ......"
Su Wen's words made many people suddenly realize that meditation is what it does. Even many lay people are the same, and when they hear about meditation from time to time, they also understand a little bit about it, they probably understand some of the meanings, but they can't say it. But when Su Wen said this, they really understood.
With Su Wen's little by little explanation, the veil of meditation was lifted in front of everyone.
Then after a trance in the audience, they found that they seemed to be separated from the people around them, as if a transparent cover covered themselves, and they couldn't feel anything except for being able to hear Su Wen's words.
In this case, instead of panicking, they feel very comfortable.
Let go of all the burdens and precautions in your heart, and just listen to Su Wen explain the Fa above.
At the same time, everyone's mind is extremely clear, and the brain is running rapidly. Not only can I remember everything I said clearly, but I can even think with my mind free.
As Su Wen said, in such a state, whether it is listening to lectures or thinking about things, it is twice the result with half the effort.
However, there are also many people who have too many thoughts in their heads, and many thoughts come up together, and they fall out of that state. When they want to get back into that state, they are frustrated to find that they can't.
And the others around them all had expressions of joy on their faces.
"How do we get into meditation, how do we train ourselves to get to that state? That's how we need Zen. As Su Wen said this, the "shell" around everyone that separated them from the world seemed to be broken, and everyone could hear the voices next to them and feel the heat on other people's bodies, making them feel uncomfortable from the bottom of their hearts for a while, and they wanted to enter the state just now again.
Therefore, I also listened more attentively to what was said, how can I enter into meditation?
"There are many kinds of Zen laws, including the four colorless concentrations, the four immeasurable minds, the six wonderful gates, the sixteen special views, the clear meditation, the supernatural meditation, the nine thoughts, the eight thoughts, the ten thoughts, the eight backs, the eight victories, the ten all places, the nine stages of determination, the lion fen Xun samadhi, the transcendent samadhi, the samadhi of enlightenment, the vajra samadhi, the Huayan samadhi, the universal light samadhi, the wonderful light samadhi, the great samadhi of the Buddhas, the great samadhi of pure and deep mind, the great samadhi of freedom in the Dharma realm, the great samadhi of the unhindered chakra, the prajna samadhi, ......."
Su Wen said dozens of Zen methods in a row, and the people below had never even heard of them, and even because Su Wen said too much, they didn't remember any of them.
"In the end, there are so many Zen methods, which can be roughly divided into three categories, namely worldly Zen, worldly Zen, and worldly Zen......"
Su Wen will then teach everyone the concept of the six wonders, which is the simplest, easiest and safest way.
"Let's get dressed first. The first is to sit upright, and to sit upright is to sit half-kneeled or double-kneeled.
If you are sitting on a semi-kneeling position, put your left foot on your right foot and pull your body closer.
If someone wants to sit on a double knee, you can do it, if you can sit on a single knee for half an hour, you can go on a double knee.
Pull your right leg up from underneath on top of a single tip. Then there is the forehand, which is the left hand on top of the right hand and placed in front of the lower abdomen......"
With Su Wen's words, the following people, whether they are laymen or tourists, read the book uukanshuco
After all, it was so comfortable to bring everyone into meditation.
If everyone does their own calculations, I am afraid that they may not be able to see the effect in a few days and months. But with Su Wen's faint words, he listened to the numbers in Su Wen's mouth: "One, two, three, four, five......"
Su Wen guided everyone with words, and it didn't take long for everyone's minds to be moved by the numbers in Su Wen's mouth, and they put aside those messy thoughts little by little, and finally all entered the state of Fang Cai without any messy thoughts, without any interference, and letting go of the whole mind and thinking.
Seeing that everyone below was in a state, Su Wen's face turned pale, and sweat flowed down his forehead little by little.
In the past, just a passage of sutra was just preached, and Su Wen was already very weak, not to mention that this time it was still to guide everyone into a state of meditation, which consumed more, but the effect was also exceptionally good.
All of us are guided into meditation by Su Wen, and after this experience, we will definitely want to enter this state again. After all, the thrill of thinking can explode is full of temptation.
The reason why monks, Taoists, and clergy of other religions like to meditate, meditate, or anything else is because in this state, it is the great pleasure of using one's mind to explore the whole world and gain knowledge.
Even if these ordinary people can't reach this point, they will not forget it if they have experienced it. Whether it's a scientist, a writer, a scholar, or any other creative person, the state of meditation is what they dream of.
Su Wen did not disturb the people in the room, and with the support of others, he walked out of the lecture hall and went back to rest.
After a long time, everyone in the audience woke up from meditation, and many people even wanted to enter this state again. But when they couldn't get in, when they looked up at Su Wen again, they found that he had already left.
