Keming asked again, "What is the benefit of learning Zen?"
Master Changguan said: "Don't be cold and tasteless, a full meal can eliminate ten thousand calamities." β
After hearing this, Keming went back to think about it for a day, but he still couldn't get the point. At that time, there were several other temple disciples who were also present to hear about it, and after returning home, they still couldn't think of a name, so everyone gathered in Keming's room. After all, Ke Ming's heart is very good, and his cultivation of Buddhism is not shallow, so the disciples of other sects have been a little admired in the past few days.
But when he asked in his room, even he didn't understand the meaning.
Later, everyone simply found Xingyuan and asked him for advice: "Senior brother, what do these words of Master Changguan mean today?"
After hearing this, Xingyuan smiled and said, "What's not clear about what? Isn't the first sentence now?"

Xingyuan said: "Life is a dream, a play, when the dream wakes up at the end of the play, how can there be half a thread to be gained? What is greedy? What is fighting? What is arguing? What is making trouble? What is repair?"
As for the third question, the crowd does not need to ask it again. If they don't understand even the third question, they will learn the Dharma in vain. But for Zen Buddhism, they are also more interested.
After the crowd dispersed, the next day they came to Changguan again and asked about the essence of Zen. After last night, all the monks of the other monasteries came to see Changguan, and after seeing them, they gave ten teachings:
"Zen learners should pay attention to the following ten things:
First, it is necessary to know that life and death are big things, impermanence is rapid, and we must not forget our righteous thoughts for a moment.
Both must sit and lie down, check the body and mind, and do not violate the law at any time.
The three must be able not to cling to empty views, not to boast about themselves, to be diligent and brave, and not to fall into evil wars.
Fourth, it is necessary to take six righteous thoughts, speak silently, stay away from delusions, and put aside troubles.
Fifth, there must be zealous to seek the Tao, be clear, and be enlightened in the caves outside the devil.
Sixth, you must be able to forget to sleep and eat, stand on the wall, and erect a backbone to move forward bravely.
Seventh, it is necessary to study the meaning of the Buddha from the West, who is the Buddha, and where is my original face.
Eight, must refer to the head of the Zen heart, the work is intensive, do not seek quick success, heavy and long.
Nine, it is necessary to rather not invent, although after ten thousand calamities, do not give birth to two thoughts of Shaolong Rulai.
Ten, you must be able not to retreat from the big heart, insight into Bodhi, and prosper the Dharma to continue the wisdom of the Buddha.
The above ten things can be kept in your heart. β
After everyone heard this, they went back to think about it for a long time, and finally understood. This is not only true for meditation, but also for the practice of their respective sects. After this, everyone was very impressed by the common view. Even if he was a disciple of the Wisdom Sect, the little contempt left in his heart was gone.
If you can say these words, you will be a teacher.
You must know that although Changguan is a mage, he is much more clever than ordinary mages. Just a few words made everyone happy and convinced.

"Everything in the world flows and changes, but what lasts forever? Even the mountains and seas have times when they collapse and dry up. If it is not in line with the present time, there will be no Zen Buddhism and there will be other sects to reform the law, and you can still stop them one by one? What's the benefit of blocking them? It's just holding the bones of the deceased and rotting together. β
After finishing speaking, Honglu was silent for a while and said, "You will practice in the temple, and you can't go down the mountain if you have nothing to do, and I will go to meet the two senior brothers." β
