Chapter 61: Sensoji Kaminarimon
Early in the morning, before six o'clock, Ning Hao had already gotten up.
Wearing pajamas, I reached open the curtains, stretched my waist and looked out the window, and the clear sky tree in the early morning came into view.
It was a nice sunny day.
"Good morning!
Smiling and muttering to himself in a good mood, Ning Hao began to wash and change clothes.
Sensoji Temple, one of Tokyo's oldest and most popular temples, is also the center of the Asakusa area.
It was built in the 7th century, and according to legend, it was built when three fishermen went out fishing to fish a small statue of the Golden Guanyin, which is about 5.5 centimeters high.
Historically, Sensoji Temple was destroyed several times by fire, but it was not until the early Edo period that it was rebuilt by the famous Tokugawa Ieyasu and designated as a place of worship for the Tokugawa shogunate.
Ning Hao came out of the hotel and walked on the empty street for a few minutes before coming here.
Visit Sensoji Temple in the morning, this is the advice given to him by the owner of the house last night.
Today, Sensoji Temple has become a popular tourist attraction in Tokyo, and it is completely occupied by various tour groups and individual tourists, and it is a crowded scene almost every day.
So, if you want to visit Sensoji Temple in peace, it's best to avoid the rush hour crowds.
This couldn't help but make Ning Hao think of the City God Temple in Mingzhu, the two are very similar in this regard.
Therefore, Ning Hao chose to visit here at six o'clock in the morning, when Sensoji Temple had just opened.
"Knock~!"
At six o'clock, the melodious bell in the temple rang.
After Ning Hao took out the Nikon camera and opened it, he aimed the lens at the famous Kaminarimon Gate in front of him.
Kaminarimon Gate is the main gate of Sensoji Temple, a typical eight-legged gate with a wide tiled roof, which was originally built to pray for peace in the world and a good harvest of grains, and its official name was 'Wind and Thunder Gate', and later it was commonly known as 'Kaminarimon'.
It can be seen that there is a delicate plaque hanging above the Kaminari Gate, with three gilded characters of 'Golden Dragon Mountain' written on it.
Because, the official name of Sensoji Temple is Sensoji Temple of Jinlongshan.
On the left and right sides of the gate, there are two huge statues, the statue of the god of wind on the left and the statue of the god of thunder on the right, which look like they are majestically guarding the entrance to Sensoji Temple.
However, the most striking thing is the huge red lantern hanging in the middle of the gate, with the word "Kaminarimon" inscribed on a black background and white on the front.
The lantern is about 3.9 meters high, 3.3 meters wide, and weighs about 700 kilograms.
Many tourists come to Sensoji Temple to see the red lanterns of Kaminarimon.
And below the lantern, you can also see a line of small characters that are very suspicious of advertising, writing: Panasonic Electric!
However, although these four words have an advertising component, they also tell every tourist who comes here the allusion behind this Kaminarimon Gate.
Like Sensoji Temple, Kaminarimon was destroyed by fire several times, and was not rebuilt for 100 years after it was destroyed by the Tawaramachi Fire in 1865.
It wasn't until later that Konosuke Matsushita, the founder of the Panasonic Group, suffered from joint pain for a long time and came to Sensoji Temple to pray to Kannon, and soon the joint pain really gradually improved.
As a token of appreciation, Shinnosuke Matsushita financed the reconstruction of Kaminarimon in 1960 and presented him with a large red lantern hanging in the middle of Kaminarimon.
Therefore, the word Matsushita appears under the lantern.
After secretly exclaiming in his heart, Ning Hao walked towards the Kaminari Gate with a single-lens reflex camera, Sensoji Temple is open to the public for free, and there is no need to buy tickets.
When he walked directly below the lantern, Ning Hao stopped, moved the camera up and looked up, and at the bottom of the lantern, there was also a lifelike dragon-shaped carving.
After watching carefully, Ning Hao continued to move forward, and after walking through the Kaminari Gate, there was the famous Zhongjianshi Commercial Street.
This shopping street, which connects Kaminarimon Gate to Kannondo, is less than 300 meters long, but it is home to about 80 shops selling a wide variety of things, most of which are local specialties and tourist souvenirs.
This kind of business model for tourist attractions is very common all over the world, and you can see many of them in China, and Ning Hao has long been surprised.
However, at this time, the Nakamise Commercial Street, which has not yet reached its business hours, is not as crowded and lively as usual.
With the shutters of all the shops drawn, the streets are deserted, except for a few locals who take advantage of the rare silence to take a morning walk or walk their beloved dogs.
If you look back at the commercial street of Nakamishi, you will find that on the back of the red lantern, there are four big characters written on the official name of the Kaminarimon Gate, 'Wind and Thunder God Gate'.
After that, Ning Hao continued to walk along the commercial street in the middle, but soon he slowed down and was attracted by the rolling shutter door that the store pulled down.
On these roller shutter doors, there are traditional island paintings with different contents, which makes the closed Zhongjianshi commercial street fade away from the copper-smelling business, and has a bit more artistic beauty.
In this way, while walking and admiring the paintings on both sides, Ning Hao walked to the treasure door unconsciously.
The Treasure Gate is a double gate with a mother-in-house structure, and a plaque above it reads 'Sensoji Temple', and there are statues of Vajra Lux on the left and right sides.
Unlike the Kaminarimon Gate, the Treasure Gate has a total of three gates, and there is a side gate on each side of the main gate in the middle.
In the middle of these three gates, there is also a large lantern, but except for the main entrance, which is the same red lantern as the Kaminarimon Gate, the side doors on both sides are hung with slightly smaller black lanterns with gold edges.
Walking through the treasure door, on its back, a pair of huge straw sandals can be seen nailed to the walls on either side.
There is no clear explanation for the allusion to these straw sandals, but legend has it that the fisherman found the statue of Guanyin in straw sandals, and straw sandals are something that everyone has, representing the basic demands of ordinary people.
After passing through the Treasure Gate, you can see the five-storied pagoda on the left, which is one of the most famous attractions of Sensoji Temple, and is the second largest five-storied pagoda after the five-storied pagoda of Toji Temple in Tokyo.
It's a pity that the five-storied pagoda is no longer open to the public, and you can still make an appointment to visit it in the past, but now you can only stand outside and enjoy it.
After walking through the treasure gate, you can see a paved stone worship Shinto road leading directly to the main hall of Kannon, Ning Hao is not too interested in worshipping, and it is not good to shoot in the main hall.
Therefore, he gave up entering the main hall of Kannon to worship and moved his eyes to the direction of the signing platform.
