(2) Beijing Week 9 [3]
Stuck for twenty minutes, Dai Ruide had just stepped into the door with his front foot, and Cai Zhiheng rang the doorbell of his house with his back foot.
opened the door, the two men stepped into the living room of the Dai family one after the other, Zhiheng stood at a distance of one meter from the coffee table and stopped, as if he didn't want to sit down, maybe he had already planned to end this conversation quickly, so he took the lead in opening his mouth-
"What exactly do you want to talk about?"
"I'd like to discuss how we can help both of us get out of our current PR dilemma. ”
"Heh......" Zhiheng chuckled, "I said before I came, all the negative public opinion is currently pointing to Dai Diamond International, so don't emphasize that it is to help our 'two families', it is only your Dai family that needs to be relieved at present." ”
"Harry, you don't understand. Dai Ruide paused for a moment, hesitated to speak, but finally had to ask bluntly, "Do you know anything about the diamond business?"
Cai Zhiheng chuckled again, looked at Dai Ruide with a smiling expression for a second, and replied: "I have been with your brother for nearly twenty years, but I don't even know you, how can I know Dai Diamond International?"
At this point, Dared lowered his head and sighed, and when he slowly raised his head, he said, "I'm sorry, Harry, I'm sorry." I apologize for being sorry for your things and am willing to accept any blame and punishment from you...... It's my fault, and I'll admit it. But let's concentrate on work today, shall we?"
"Okay, let's discuss work, what do you want to say, please finish it in one go. Don't waste my time. ”
"Harry, what I'd like to say is the actual situation in Dai Diamond International. We have no way or need to sell fake diamonds, brand is one of the greatest values of our company, not to mention that one of the major shareholders behind our company, the sole supplier and producer, is De Beers Jewellery. ”
"De Beers?" Zhiheng has naturally heard of this famous giant in the jewelry industry, and he will not be unaware of this company if he knows a little about the jewelry industry.
In the middle of the nineteenth century, Brazil's diamond mines were depleted. The discovery of huge new deposits in South Africa has sparked a huge diamond boom that has attracted diamond diggers and treasure hunters from all over the world to the banks of the Orange and Waal rivers. Soon. Large deposits have been discovered in the hinterland, known as 'dry placers', but in fact kimberlite veins. Two of the largest deposits are located on a farm, owned by brothers Johannes Nicholas Debil and Didrick Arnoldez Debeer. These two deposits became the De Beers Mine and the Kimberley Mine. Year 1873. A young Englishman named Cecil John Rhodes came to South Africa to recuperate. Eventually, in 1880, he founded De Beers Mining Company, which unearthed some of the world's most fascinating and historically valuable diamonds, including the world's largest rough diamond discovered in 1905, with an unprecedented weight of 3,106 carats. Later, the diamond was cut and polished into nine prestigious diamonds, the two largest of which – the 530.2-carat Cullinan I and the 317.4-carat Cullinan II – are now part of the British Crown Jewels.
After a hundred years of change, since the end of the last century. The De Beers Group of Companies has shifted its structure and strategy to shift its focus from its controlled control of diamond supply lines. The transfer is to the diamond itself - its identity, quality, scarcity and personality - to the dreams and aspirations of the discerning jewelry client. Today, De Beers controls 40 percent of the world's diamond trade and has decided to only deal in diamonds of certain origins, thus guaranteeing 100 per cent integrity, authenticity and transparency throughout the supply chain, from the mine to the retailer.
Still, Zhiheng said, "So what, De Beers won't sell fake diamonds?" This statement is incomprehensible to the public and ridiculous. ”
"De Beers is one of the world's leading diamond experts, with unrivalled qualifications and more than 100 years of experience, and De Beers Diamond & Jewellery's diamond selection process is considered to be the most rigorous process possible in the jewellery world today – every diamond purchased on the open market is carefully examined, evaluated and hand-selected by experienced experts to meet the most demanding standards set by the De Beers Diamond Institute. Owned by some of the world's most respected diamond authorities, the expert body is exclusively owned by De Beers Jewellery and is responsible for all diamond selection and sourcing on the open market, with strict monitoring of quality, sustainability and ethical practices throughout the supply chain. They have also developed the brand's characteristic obsession with requiring all of De Beers Diamond & Jewellery's diamonds to have a lustrous luster – a brilliance that depends as much on the intrinsic quality that nature has given to the rough diamonds, as well as on the perfection of the cut and polish. The Institute is responsible for developing new diamond evaluation criteria, the most important of which are the search for fire, life and brilliance.
All De Beers diamonds must be sourced exclusively from natural, untreated rough stones, and all diamonds must be sourced ethically – not only in accordance with the 'Kimberley Process', but also in accordance with the stricter De Beers Group Best Practice Principles. These principles ensure that no child labour is involved at any stage. Approved in 2002 and implemented in 2003, the Kimberley Process is a United Nations-mandated system supported by governments, the global diamond industry and non-governmental organizations to prevent diamonds from conflict zones from entering legitimate supply chains. Through the 'Kimberley Process', rough diamonds are monitored at every step of the supply chain, from the mine to the retail. To date, 74 countries have joined the Kimberley Process, and while 99 per cent of all diamonds certified by the Process come from conflict-free areas, 100 per cent of the diamonds of De Beers Diamonds & Jewellery and all of its subsidiaries are guaranteed to come from conflict-free diamonds.
To go into more detail, the 'Kimberley Procedure' is backed by a series of guarantees that cover both rough and polished, rough diamonds and all buyers and sellers of rough diamonds. De Beers Diamond Jewellery only deals with suppliers with impeccable reputation and integrity. Once the diamond's morality, legitimacy and authenticity have been assured, De Beers Diamond & Jewellery's renowned experts begin the appraisal process, examining each diamond over 0.2 carats. Of the more than 20,000 to 30,000 diamonds examined each year, only 12,000 to 15,000 are selected, and even smaller, hand-selected diamonds under 0.2 carats used for pavé are subject to the same quality standards.
As many people know, diamonds are generally classified according to the '4Cs' criteria, and the evaluation criteria - cut cut, carat, colour and clarity - were developed in conjunction with the GIA of the Gemological Institute of America, which was subsequently simplified by De Beers into an easy-to-understand concept of the '4Cs' and released to the public in 1939.
There are two other procedures that guarantee the integrity of these hand-selected diamonds: the De Beers engraving and the De Beers passport, a certificate of security that records all aspects of the purchase. De Beers' proprietary technology engraving, which is a micro-particle pattern embedded with the brand name and De Beers serial number, etched on the table of all diamonds over 0.2 carats, cannot be seen, erased or erased by the naked eye, and can only be seen by an instrument using 250x magnification, and can be seen by customers through a special De Beers diamond appreciator. As an effective security and identification measure, De Beers engravings are cleverly positioned deep enough to catch light and visible under magnifying glass, and shallow enough not to compromise clarity, so that a diamond with De Beers engraving will retain its GIA Pure grade. "Da Reed explained the solidity of the De Beers brand in great detail and clearly, and then, after a pause, he said what he was going to do.
"I'll explain all of this in tomorrow's PR article, and I've asked the team to prepare a comparison of fake and real diamonds, and invited De Beers' most senior verifiers to appear at our press conference the day after tomorrow, and all the information will be announced - Dai Diamond International's reputation will gradually be restored, and the public's spearhead will inevitably be pointed at the 'Earn' platform and the Chua Group."
