Chapter 345: A Bad Start
Although the first day of school can be difficult for students to adjust to after a short break, Harry's performance is clearly a bit overdone, and even though Darren has only taken Potions classes with him, it can be seen that the other party is very nervous, especially against Snape, but considering that it is Monday, it is not difficult to understand.
Of course, this has nothing to do with Darren, and he can still be sure that the work in the Slytherin Chamber has been suspended for more than half a month, and he has to clean up, just to see if the latest theory has any effect...... Well, Penelope hasn't seen him in a long time.
"Tonight, Harry said that what the mystery man was looking for was hidden in the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic," Penelope said to Darren as part of their daily routine, otherwise the swap of identities might be revealed.
"Department of Mysteries?" said Darren casually, arranging his workbench so as not to be in a hurry when he came the next day, "Well, I hope he's okay, Ah! Thank you, Penelope!" he let out a heartfelt sigh as he looked at the thick homework.
He didn't hear any reaction though, and looked up to find Penelope staring at him, "What's wrong?"
"What kind of person are you?" Penelope didn't look away, "I'm not as interested as I am in completing your homework for you!"
"Oh......"
"Okay, I'll finish all my homework, I've done it before anyway, so don't be so polite!" Penelope didn't wait for Darren to answer, he smiled and waved his hand, "Goodbye, you have to pay attention to your body, boss!"
The next morning, because he hadn't slept well at night, Darren was going to drink a hot drink to refresh himself before eating, but Hermione suddenly screamed and made him squirt out what he had just drunk, and everyone around him looked at them.
"What's wrong?" Darren was still coughing, and Harry and Ron asked together, wondering how Hermione could make such a noise while reading the newspaper.
Hermione spread the newspaper onto the table and pointed to the front page of eleven black-and-white photographs of ten wizards and a witch, some laughing silently, some arrogantly tapping their fingers against the borders, each with a name and a crime in Azkaban.
Antonin Dolohov and August Lukewood...... Darren, who is at the bottom of the list of wizards, knows Peter Pettigrew, and he still escapes.
The only witch was Bellatrix Lestrange, and Darren saw that Frank and Alice Longbottom were tormented to the death of Frank and Alice Longbottom, resulting in their permanent cripples.
"No wonder......" Harry muttered to himself, Ron frowning and nodding.
"What?" Hermione asked them in a low voice.
"Last night," Ron said to Hermione in the same low voice, "Harry was laughing when I was in the dorm, but he didn't know why, and I slapped him before he stopped......"
Darren saw their eyes turn back to Harry, full of worry, this kid can't practice Occlumency!
After looking away from Harry, Hermione continued to flip through the newspaper, and Darren put away the things he had wet on his plate, so that no one else would touch them......
"Uh, it's ...... god," but Hermione exclaimed again.
"It's horrible!" Hermione said to the newspaper again, and Darren poked his head over, "The Ministry of Magic staff member died unexpectedly!" St. Mungo's Hospital promised last night that a full investigation would be made into the death of the Ministry of Magic staff member Broderick Bode. ”
"Forty-nine-year-old Mr. Bode was strangled to death in a hospital bed by a potted plant, and the therapists failed to resuscitate him...... We had strict rules about the decorations in the wards, but the Straw healer, in his Christmas hecticality, overlooked the dangerous nature of Mr. Baldur's bedside plants...... A devil's net, and as soon as the recovered Mr. Bode touched it, he was immediately strangled to death. ”
"Bode?" Ron also saw the newspaper, and he recalled something, "Bode, that's familiar......"
"We've seen him," Hermione whispered, "at St. Mungo, remember? We've also seen the Devil's Net, which the healer said was a Christmas present!"
"Have you seen Bode?" asked Darren curiously.
"Yes, you didn't go upstairs when we went to see Mr. Weasley on Christmas Day. ”
"How could we not recognize the Devil's Net? we could have stopped ...... before," Harry blamed himself.
"Who would have thought that the Devil's Net would show up in the hospital disguised as a potted plant?" Ron said, "It's not our fault, it's the gift giver! must be a fool, why don't you see what you're buying?"
"Come on, Ron!" said Hermione, "I don't think anyone would put a devil's net in a pot and not see that it was trying to strangle anyone who touched it. This, this is murder...... If the person who gave the plant didn't leave his name, who would be able to find out?"
"I've met Bode," Harry said slowly, but obviously not repeating what he had just said, "with your dad at the Ministry of Magic!" he had only been to the Ministry of Magic once, when he was interrogated for casting a Patronus Charm on Dementors.
Ron's mouth widened, and as if reminded of Harry's words, "I heard dad mention him at home, he works in the Department of Mysteries! They call the people who work there 'unspeakable' because no one seems to know what they're doing there......"
The conversation at the table did not continue, for the other students had finished their meals and were beginning to leave, and they had to follow along, otherwise it would be too conspicuous, and then, Hagrid was seen standing in the doorway for a group of Ravenclaw students to pass, and he was as scarred as when he had returned from looking for the giant, and had a new wound on the bridge of his nose.
"Hey, Hagrid!" they greeted him.
"How are you?" he wanted to laugh, but only grinned in pain.
"Are you alright, Hagrid?" Harry asked with a frown, Darren looking at Hagrid's new wound, it wasn't easy for someone to get there given his height......
"Good, good," Hagrid waved his hand as he feigned merry, only to almost hit Professor Victor next to him, "It's just busy, you know, or that...... Preparing...... The scales of the two salamanders are rotten, oh, I'll keep it for inspection......" Finally, he muttered under his breath.
"You're on probation?" Ron asked aloud, causing the students next to him to look back, "I'm sorry...... I mean, you're going to keep it on probation?" he lowered his voice.
"yes," said Hagrid, "to be honest, it's expected, you may not understand it, but the results of that investigation are not good...... Forget it, we'll have to go and smear some chili powder on the salamanders, or they'll have their tails off. See you soon!"
Darren knew, as Hagrid said, that was to be expected, and that this was the result for Umbridge at Hogwarts, and wondered what Dumbledore was doing?
