Chapter 70: Diagon Alley in the New Year
On the last Wednesday of the holiday, the Granger couple drove Ryan and their daughter to Diagon Alley shopping. Because Lane's mother had to go to work, and his father claimed that he had a brilliant idea to open a new book and easily release Lane's pigeons.
After Ryan arrived in this world, he found that although the world was not much different from the world he was in in terms of general historical direction, there were still changes in many small places. For example, many of the world's most famous literary works have become similar works by other authors in this world, and some have never appeared.
It's just that Ryan can't remember the specific content of the books he originally read, and he doesn't have time to copy the texts. So during the family chatter, Ryan told his father, Mr. Lambert, about some of the works that he remembered that had never appeared in the world as a brain hole.
Perhaps stimulated by these brain holes and the fact that there is magic in this world, Mr. Lambert decided to write a magical epic in a big way. So Mr. Lambert, who was in retreat and writing, handed Ryan to the Granger couple and asked them to take Ryan shopping.
According to Ryan, Hermione's parents were standard literate and mild-mannered. In particular, Mr. Granger is actually a fan of Daddy Ryan's books, which makes there be a lot of common topics in the car along the way.
Once at Diagon Alley, Ryan and Hermione decided to go to Gringotts to exchange money first, and as soon as they stepped onto the white marble steps of Gringotts, they saw Hagrid walking over with Harry.
"Hey, Harry's here. Harry looked up and saw Ryan and Hermione standing on the white steps of Gringotts
Ryan greeted Harry as he and Hermione walked down the steps to greet Harry.
"Are you going camping, how did you get dirty? Hagrid...... Oh, and it's great to see you both again...... Are you going to Gringotts now, Harry?"
"I'll go when I find the Weasleys. Harry said.
"You don't have to look for long. Hagrid laughed.
Soon the Weasleys show up, and the twins and Ron express their envy for Harry's adventures in Tumbledown Alley.
Taking advantage of the Weasleys' greetings with Harry, Ryan handed Fred a small pouch.
"What are you doing, Ryan?" Ron asked after seeing their deal.
"You know I went to Iceland during the summer holidays, and your brothers asked me to bring them some local produce. Ryan replied.
As they walked up the steps of Gringotts together, Harry told Ryan that he had met Malfoy and his son in the Dark Arts Shop. Mr. Weasley, who was following behind, felt that he should seize evidence of the Malfoys' involvement in the Dark Arts. He then argues with Mrs. Weasley, who advises him to put his safety first.
Mr. Weasley's attention was quickly diverted, and he greeted the Granger couples standing in the hall. It seems that Mr. Weasley is a nice guy who is very passionate about Muggles, but the Granger couple are a little uncomfortable with this enthusiasm.
The Weasleys and Harry were to go to the underground vault to withdraw money, while Ryan and Hermione exchanged money at the hall house.
"This year's quota for all is 250 Galleons, because the cost of Hogwarts textbooks has increased again this year. The goblin said to them a little impatiently, probably he had said it many times this morning.
When Harry and the others came out, they all agreed to meet at the Blotted bookstore in an hour. After that, it's time to go shopping.
Ryan and his family wandered the cobblestone streets, browsing the dazzling array of goods and eating a chunk of nut cream ice cream. They saw the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan buying a lot of fireworks. She was then pulled by Hermione to buy parchment and ink.
Ryan usually went to the thrift store to look through any useful old books, and Hermione was eager to try this kind of shopping after seeing Ryan's 1893 edition of "A Hundred Common Potions Making" last time.
Unfortunately, Harry and Ron were not interested in this, so they parted ways with Ryan and went to the Quidditch Boutique.
"Knowledge is so useful, but why do they find the savage movement of flying around on a broomstick more interesting?" said Hermione, somewhat puzzled.
"You know, they all run in the family of the sport. Besides, it's only a small group of people who enjoy reading books. Ryan pushed the door open and turned to Hermione.
Upon entering, they find Percy Weasley concentrating on a very boring book, How Prefects Gain Power. Ryan looked at the page that had been flipped down, and the careers the prefects had taken up since they left school.
Seeing Ryan staring curiously at his book, Percy closed the book a little embarrassed and greeted Ryan. In fact, Percy and Ryan both have a good relationship with Hermione, especially when they organize their homework as a group, and Percy helps a lot.
"The book is too rudimentary. Ryan said with some disdain. But come to think of it, the wizarding world is so big, and there is no need for such subtle political skills.
"I think it's a pretty good book, why do you think it's shabby?" Percy asked curiously. It could be seen from his expression that he felt that Ryan didn't understand at all at this age, and should be just talking nonsense.
"I recommend you to read the Celestial Empire's Zizhi Tongjian, which is a book written by a prime minister of the Celestial Empire to the emperor more than a thousand years ago, and the cases in it are much higher than those in this book. I remember someone translating the book into English. ”
Percy was so interested that he asked Ryan to write the name of the book in Chinese, and said he might go to Chinatown to find the book.
After sending off Percy, who was a little agitated, Ryan and Hermione began to rummage through piles of old books, most of which were just scribbling on old books, and even one of them might have been soaked in some kind of potion and smelled bad.
Maybe novices were generally lucky, but in the end Hermione found a useful book, which was a Charms class note from a Ravenclaw student, and she thought it was useful to have some knowledge.
At checkout, Hermione said to Ryan, "I always thought that these second-hand books were for people with financial problems, and there was no merit in it other than being cheap. Thanks to you, I know that there is still valuable knowledge left by those who came before me. ”
Ryan smiled, second-hand goods sometimes hide valuable things inside. This was the experience he had gained in his previous life when he was buying second-hand goods in Xianyu, and it was a very new theory for Hermione, a girl who had a good family background and never needed to buy second-hand goods for financial reasons. Especially when she pulled out the gold from a large pile of garbage, the joy of the harvest was definitely something she had never experienced before.
After settling the bill, Ryan took out his pocket watch and found that the appointed time was almost up, so he and Hermione hurriedly ran to the Blotted bookstore.
