Volume 1 Chapter 22 Worth it
An old, low-legged cabinet sits next to the bed, the only furnishing in the room other than the bed.
Originally, there should have been a drawer on the cabinet, but now there is only a hole in the drawer. Maybe a thief has visited this place, or maybe this cabinet just didn't know where it was picked up, and it was this broken appearance from the time it was picked up.
On the cabinet lay a small handmade puppet of rough workmanship, a rusty iron box, in which lay a few rag heads, some needles and threads, and a few ordinary buttons.
Hughes raised his hand and carefully rubbed everything over before standing up, closing the door, and turning to leave.
After taking a few steps and thinking about it, he turned back and stuffed the puppet into the tin box and took it with him.
Back at the bottom of the well, placing the tin box beside his pillow, Shuggus turned to face Thor's back, somewhat speechless.
"What's wrong?"
Thor lifted the rod and didn't look back, but apparently sensed Shogues' silence.
The flickering candlelight in the corner stretched Thor's figure long on the ground, looking down at the flickering shadow, Shogues clenched his fists, his voice betraying loss and guilt.
"I'm sorry I messed up and dragged you down!"
The moment the words came out, Shogges's eyes were a little red, not because he bowed his head and admitted that he was wrong, but because Saul had clearly instructed him to stop when he was leaving.
It's okay to go your own way, but in the end, you have to exchange Thor's fish for your own life.
Shogues felt that he was likely to lose his friendship with Saul.
There are too many seemingly trustworthy relationships in this world, which are often not worth mentioning under the impact of interests, let alone survival.
"Drag? about what?"
Thor turned half of his face slightly, with the candlelight on his back, the expression on his face a little unclear.
Taking a deep breath, Shogues gave a general account of his experience today, but did not mention his mother.
After saying that, he fell into a silent wait.
In Shogues's vision, he was willing to endure Saul's abuse, outburst, or rage. Even if Thor finally stood by and watched his life or death, or even let him go, he would not make any excuses, and would just leave gloomily.
After all, Shogues's heart is proud, although this pride has never had any capital.
This mood is probably like a man, no matter how down, no matter how unbearable, he will eventually leave some inexplicable dignity.
After listening to Hugues's words, Thor silently turned his head.
The bottom of the well was silent.
After a while, Thor put down his fishing rod and got up and walked to the debris pile in the other corner, looking down and rummaging.
"A few fish for a right hand, it's a good deal for us. Thor suddenly spoke.
Shugues looked up suddenly, and saw Thor walking towards him, handing over a bottle of potion.
"Drink it, maybe it will have some effect on your injuries. ”
Without hesitation, Xiugus took it and poured it down, slightly sweet, and gradually some warm heat penetrated his body.
He opened his mouth to say something, but he didn't seem to be able to say anything, and Shogues's expression was a little depressed, and Thor raised his hand and patted him lightly on the shoulder.
"There's no time for frustration, and now that things are going in a worse direction, we have to re-plan a little more. ”
As he spoke, Thor crouched down to divide up the existing food, then stood up and faced Shuggus again.
"There may not be many opportunities to eat fish in the future, and now we still have a total of seven live fish in our hands, which is enough for you to deal with the guild for three or four days. ”
"Food is not enough anyway, so let's take these three or four days as our last chance, and be prepared to go through all the corners of the town that we can set foot in. ”
Maybe it's because of the temperature or something, the fishing is becoming more and more erratic. Sometimes at the end of the day, there are no more than two, even on the luckiest day, which is no longer enough to survive.
Thor was going to put this matter aside for a while and put all his energy back into the search outside, so that at least he could numb the heaviness of his heart through physical fatigue.
Pointing to the food on the ground that had been divided into two portions, Thor finally said:
"Let's keep half for ourselves and send the other half to them. It's not much, and it's probably the last support, but since you promised to take care of others, I'll look down on you halfway. ”
Listening to Saul's understatement, Shogues gave him a deep look, and hurriedly tilted his head to the side, so as not to let Thor see his tearful eyes.
Hughes was very uncomfortable with this feeling, as if his lifelong vulnerability had exploded today.
Looking at the silent Xiugus, Thor himself felt a little strange, he didn't have much anger in his heart.
Maybe it's still that reason, since it's already snowing, what does it matter if it rains a little bigger. Or maybe it's because he doesn't know when he has more identification with Shogues in his heart, and he has a friend and brother in this lonely winter.
One orphan and another orphan may not be an orphan, sometimes Thor thinks.
After a moment of silence, Shogues stepped forward and gave Thor a strong hug with his uninjured hand, saying nothing, just raising his hand and hammering Thor the back.
After a brief silence, Saul grabbed Huggers by the shoulders and pushed him away, and said with a look of disgust:
"Damn it, stay away from me, I like women, and I've thought you'd be suspicious since the night you said you wanted to sleep with me in the winter. ”
"Poof......" Shogues, who was caught off guard, couldn't bear it for a while, and snot and tears sprayed Thor all over.

In the quiet darkness, the sisters lay side by side.
It's been a long time since I've had such a relaxing atmosphere after a busy day finally got a moment's respite.
"He's just...... Kiss me. Erin hid some blushing details from last night and briefly answered her sister's question about Thor.
With a doting and teasing look on her face, Corvier pulled the blanket sideways for her sister.
"Then you have to be careful, this may be a trick to seduce, or a little trick to get away with it, what are you going to do?"
"No, but I don't think he'll come back. ”
"And do you want him to come again?"
"I don't know, maybe a sudden predicament can always quickly shorten the distance between people, I can't tell you the specific feeling, but it seems to be reassuring. What about you, sister. ”
Intimate questions are constantly being asked by her sister, Erin is extremely shy, and the best diversion is the same rhetorical question.
Sure enough, overshadowed by Irene's gaze, Covill blinked in a panic and pretended to lie down to avoid her sister's gaze.
After a while, my sister's voice sounded in the darkness, and the shyness became smaller and smaller.
"Shameless guy from Shogues...... Licking all night long like a wild dog all over my body, I hate it to death. ”
"Poof...... Why does it sound like she's showing off?" Feeling the youthful side of her sister, who was always a little strong, Erin covered her mouth with a red face and cooed.
"Ahh
The two sisters laughed in the darkness and fell into the whispers of the maidens.
"Tom... Tom... Tong. ”
There was an abrupt knock on the door, and the sisters in the darkness fell silent.
A moment later, the knock was repeated again.
"It's them. ”
Corvell sat up first, got out of bed lightly, and opened the door to her first floor, and Erin got up to follow.
Although judging by the rhythm of the knocking on the door, it was likely that it was Xiuggoth and the others standing outside the door at the moment, but the sisters were as cautiously prepared as usual, and scattered the most advantageous positions on both sides of the door.
Erin clutched a hardwood stick with a spike tip tied to it in both hands, and Kovill carried the short-handled hunting knife her father had left behind.
The door cracked open a crack at first, then opened abruptly by Corville.
"You're hurt?"
Dressed in a snowstorm, Shogues came in through the door, the wound on his forehead faintly visible the blood that had just congealed, and he only waved his hand calmly in the face of Corvier's questioning.
"Don't worry, this little injury is nothing compared to the fact that I faced the Devilhorn Wolf alone in the wilderness. On the way here I spotted two ill-intentioned homeless men circling around the neighborhood, and I chased them away, and that's it. ”
After the story was written, Shogues hid the solemnity in his eyes, smiled and lifted the cloth bag in his hand and shook it.
"You'd better not go out again lately, at least until you run out of food. Nowadays the town is getting more and more dangerous, you pay attention to safety, take care of yourself, the problem of food...... Well, leave it to me and Thor to deal with it, waiting for our news. ”
Covill nodded silently, a look of concern in her big beautiful eyes, and she stepped forward with a handkerchief in her handkerchief to carefully wipe the blood from her forehead and neck for Shogues.
Taking advantage of her opportunity to observe her injuries closely, a touch of tenderness quietly flashed in Shogues's eyes, and then lewdly turned his face to the dark, greedily sniffing the girlish fragrance in her hair.
For Shoguers, it may have been a day of nothing or even pain.
But it's all worth it.
When he turned to close the door to cut off the wind and snow behind him, Huggers said firmly to himself in his heart.
