Chapter 401 Natural Crystal
This Bodhisattva holding the Vajra wears a crown on his head, the wonderful appearance is solemn, although it is a male appearance, but rich in the feminine softness, holding a blue lotus flower in the right hand, holding the vajra pestle in the left hand, the expression is compassionate, full of the unique tranquility and peace of Buddhism, reflecting the Buddhist feelings of "universal compassion" after taking refuge in Buddhism. However, opposite him, there is also a bodhisattva holding a vajra, his body leaning slightly to the right, his right hand making mudras, and wearing a gorgeous and intricate crown full of various ornaments on his head.
His eyes do not have the humility of holding the lotus bodhisattva, with a bit of cold arrogance and solemn worldly feelings, although these two paintings are painted of Vajra Bodhisattva, but one is compassionate, the other is cold, so the feeling is completely different.
"I don't know much about Buddhist bodhisattvas, so let's wait until I go back to China and find some Buddhists to study carefully!" Mo Xie didn't have time to study this now, he was actually interested in the exquisite characters in the painting.
As Mo Ye kept moving these grottoes, some of the pictures inside the grottoes were also exposed to the sun.
These murals, if in the dark grotto, are not so conspicuous, but in the sun, they look too gorgeous.
Mo Xie moved these grottoes, all because of the simplicity of the ugly, how suitable and how to come, so he completely relied on the structure of the original mountain, especially some cracks, to divide these grottoes.
For example, now, according to a naturally weathered crack, he cut a little, and moved two grottoes, these two grottoes are more than 30 meters high, more than 80 meters long, and more than 30 meters deep into the mountain, such a huge grotto, even here is considered rare.
The frescoes and stone carvings inside and outside these peeled out grottoes, which are monks' houses and meeting places, are covered with frescoes on the walls, pillars and roofs.
The exquisite Buddha statues in the grotto form a Dharma seal, and there are carvings of deer under the Dharma seat, symbolizing the **** of the beginning of Sarnath, and such a situation can be said to abound here.
It can be said that each cave here has its own characteristics, for example, Cave 4 is the largest monastery here, but it was never completed in the end.
According to an inscription in the cave, the cave was excavated in the 6th century AD and consists of a corridor, a multi-columned hall and a large hall with an antechamber and a connected section of unfinished monks' meditation rooms.
Its most magnificent building is the statue of the first **** Buddha behind the main hall, and there are 28 pillars in this cave.
Considered to be the oldest cave by Mo Ye, Cave 10 is a mural of cow dung, clay and powdered stone and rice mixed into a pulp and brushed on the wall, and then coated with a thin layer of green clay.
A very shallow base is then traced and then colored with a mixture of resin and glue.
Dark colors are shaded, white is painted, and finally varnish is applied to the picture to play a fixed role.
But with the passage of time, now the murals have fallen off in many places, but you can still see the general picture, however, there are also some strange murals here, such as the Bodhisattva holding a fish in his hand, it is more strange, you must know that Buddhism is about not killing, not eating meat, and now a Bodhisattva is holding a fish in his hand, what does this mean?
The No. 16 grotto was excavated in about 475-500 AD, there are two elephants at the door, Master Xuanzang also saw these two elephants that year, and recorded in the "Tang Dynasty Western Regions Chronicle", this is not strange, but the strange thing is that not far from these two elephants, is two cute guard poodles!
Cave 24 is an unfinished grotto, the grotto has basically been excavated, the ground has not been leveled, it can be seen that the excavation of the grotto is from the outside to the inside, from top to bottom, gradually excavated.
According to Mo Ye's identification, the work may have been stopped in the 5th century, and according to this age, it is speculated that it may be due to the sudden collapse of the Vagataka Dynasty in the 5th century, which led to the sudden cessation of the ordered work.
And in this cave, Mo Ye saw a lot of seated Buddha statues, not sitting cross-legged, but sitting on chairs and thrones, just like modern people, sitting with their feet together.
And this is in the birthplace of yoga, there are Bodhisattvas who can't sit cross-legged, it's really incredible!
Cave 19 was excavated around the 5th century AD, and the front and interior of the cave are richly carved.
The Buddha statue in the cave is integrated with the stupa, the top reaches the roof, and the umbrella on the top of the stupa is typical of Mahayana Buddhism.
The grottoes are carved from the natural mountain wall, and the style imitates the wooden temple, and the Buddha hall is carved with pillars and beams and domes in imitation of wooden buildings.
The ceiling is cylindrical in shape, and the supporting rafters are also carved, and this is only to make it more solemn and beautiful, to make it more like a wooden building.
In addition, the vaulted dome and column plate frame in Cave 19 are covered with wonderful carvings, and the window of lighting is opened in front of the grotto, Mo Ye is here, see the Buddha statue on the pagoda behind the Buddha hall, let the Buddha statue exude ten thousand golden light, that kind of scene, it is a proper Buddha light to shine!
Therefore, when moving Cave No. 19, Mo Ye was very careful, he calculated several times before he was ready to start.
The building here is very special, and after Mo Ye was ready to move away, he also calculated the direction to let this scene of Buddha's light shine again.
After precise calculations, Mo Ye was amazed by the construction and design of these grottoes, because the Buddha's light here did not appear by chance, but was formed after precise calculations and architectural design.
It was only after calculating the directions, measuring the time and the trajectory of the sun and the earth, and even drawing the images that Mo Ye included these special buildings in the space one by one.
As this cliff was gradually emptied, Mo Ye's operation here was about to end.
In recent days, Chen Erlei and the others have become numb, they can only look at the silence of the cave that disappears day by day, and the most they are in awe of this great power.
No matter what Mo Xie did or how he did it, as long as he didn't say it, Chen Erlei and the others would never ask again.
When the cave disappeared in the back left, Chen Erlei and others held a celebration in the evening, of course, the food was mainly provided by Mo Ye.
"Be careful!" Chen Erlei had just taken out a cantaloupe when he was frightened by Mo Ye's exclamation.
Then, Chen Erlei saw a black shadow passing in front of him, it was a local long-tailed monkey, such a scene, they saw it almost every day.
"No wonder these Asan believe monkeys, so many monkeys live here, they are naturally the Buddha's guards!" Escaping the attack of the long-tailed monkey, Chen Erlei said a little angrily.
"These are Hanuman langurs!" Mo Ye has not seen this kind of monkey much recently, so he knows that myths originate from life, and the only ones who are really made up out of thin air are probably only those real Buddhas.
For example, this kind of Hanuman langur really exists, they are called the sacred monkey, in many cities in India, you can see a monkey species called the long-tailed langur, they are the warriors of the monkey god Hanuman in the mythology of Asan, so they enjoy the special worship and tolerance of the locals.
There is a legend of the monkeys, these long-tailed langurs live a carefree and well-fed life in the city of Ah San, and people live next to these monkeys: they share a clay pot for drinking; tasting delicious flowers and cakes that people bask on the rooftops; Swaggering away from vendors of fruits and vegetables.
Because it is related to Hanuman, the Indians also call the long-tailed langur Hanuman langur.
In this grotto, Mo Ye found too many murals of the monkey, so he also has a deep understanding of this monkey, according to legend, Hanuman can fly in the air, its face and body can change at will, can move mountains and seas.
He also said that Hanuman had a face like a ruby, a golden coat, a tall body, an unusually long tail, a roar like thunder, great strength, a moving mountain, and a catching cloud.
It is said that when Hanuman was born, when he saw the sun, he thought it was edible, so he grabbed it in his hand, and in order to save the sun from accidents, Indra hurriedly struck Hanuman's jaw with thunder, and Hanuman was also called "the one who was struck by his jaw".
With four faces and eight hands, he rescued Sita, the wife of Rama, the prince of Ayuta, and fought against the Rakshasa demon Ravana.
He is the embodiment of wisdom and strength, who is the embodiment of wisdom and strength.
Therefore, after seeing the murals of those divine monkeys, Mo Ye once suspected that Sun Wukong may have evolved from Hanuman, because Hanuman in the mural is very similar to the image of modern Sun Wukong, especially his upper lip.
Of course, Hanuman's lips Mo Ye didn't care, he cared about Hanuman's face, because in some Hanuman murals, its face was inlaid with rubies, and such murals, Mo Ye hadn't seen two of them.
And what does it say that there are so many Hanuman murals whose faces are as red as jewels?
Although it is relatively easy to make money in ancient Buddhism, it is not normal for so many rubies to appear here, and the biggest possibility is that there is still this ruby vein here.
However, no matter how Mo Ye searched recently, he only found some white crystals and obsidian, and the white crystal Mo Ye had already found it, but the ruby was never found.
Just as Mo Ye was thinking about whether he would continue to look for rubies here, Chen Erlei spoke: "Shouldn't we leave?" ”
"Something?" Mo Ye was stunned.
"The movement we made is a bit big, and it has aroused the suspicion of the local government, and someone may come here to check it out in the next few days!" Chen Erlei said.
Mo Xie thought for a moment and said, "Stay for three more days, I'm going to collect some white crystals!" ”
"That thing isn't worth much, is it?" Chen Erlei said a little puzzled.
In his impression, the crystal thing seemed to be worthless, and it was everywhere, Mo Ye didn't need to stay here and waste time because of some white crystals, right?
"Haha, you're talking about artificial crystals, but here are natural crystals," Mo Xie said with a smile.
