Chapter 488: The Tomb of the Dragon's Head
In April 2002, the archaeological team discovered a walled cemetery in Basilit Town, Kent Province, 322 kilometers northeast of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, which included at least 30 unopened mausoleums. This tomb is called "most likely the tomb of Genghis Khan". However, four months later, the archaeological team abruptly abandoned the excavation operation and withdrew from Mongolia. Rumor has it that during the expedition, some of the staff of the American archaeological team were bitten by many poisonous snakes that suddenly gushed out of the walls of the mausoleum, and their vehicle parked on the side of the mountain also slipped down the hillside for no apparent reason, so the archaeological team decided to abandon the excavation.
Therefore, it is rumored that Genghis Khan has appeared. However, the real situation is said to be that the archaeological team was prevented by the Mongolian government and the civilian population. Because according to Mongolian tradition, digging up the land brings bad luck, and touching the grave of an ancestor destroys his soul. Therefore, when the Mongolian people learned of the news, they strongly opposed the excavation, and the Mongolian government ordered the archaeological team to stop the excavation and withdraw from the area. As a result, the main investor, Kravez, had to announce the cessation of the expedition.
On October 6, 2004, the British "Times" suddenly reported that a joint archaeological team from Japan and Mongolia recently announced that they had found the "key" that may open the mystery of Genghis Khan's mausoleum - Genghis Khan's spiritual temple. If the identity of the temple is confirmed, the tomb of Genghis Khan will be locked within a 12-kilometer radius of the temple.
On 4 October 2005, a joint Japanese-Mongolian archaeological team discovered the ruins of a 13th- to 15th-century spiritual temple built on a quadrangular pedestal near the village of Dargenhaan, in the city of Avlagatar, about 150 miles from Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Underneath the temple is a stone platform that is almost in ruins, and there are many pits hidden under the stone platform, in which the ashes and bones of many war horses are buried. Judging by the number of remains of war horses, it is clear that the owner of this mausoleum is of an extraordinary position. The foundation stone and pillar pit that remain as the remains of the spiritual temple were also found on the 25-meter-square pedestal, and because no tiles and bricks were found, it is speculated that the earth surface should be built on zhangpeng.
Archaeologists believe that this stone platform should have been the original foundation of the mausoleum. In the temple, a 40-centimeter-high stone wall with a height of about 40 centimeters was also found in the "convex" shape from above, and there were traces of fire burning on it. Pits of buried ashes and horse bones have been found around the altar, which is believed to be evidence of "rice-burning" rituals such as burning horses to worship Genghis Khan, which is consistent with the records of Chinese historical records. In addition, on the south side of the temple, an incense burner engraved with the dragon as a symbol of the emperor was unearthed, which is consistent with the records of Persian history books in the 14th century.
One of the leaders of the archaeological excavation team, Professor Norinosuke Shiraishi of Niigata University in Japan, said that the mausoleum is densely packed with the tombs of Mongolian leaders from all eras within seven miles of the tomb. There are all kinds of indications that this should be the long-legendary tomb of Genghis Khan.
Pan Zhaodong, a researcher at the Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Sciences, and Zhu Yaoting, the screenwriter of the TV series "Genghis Khan", both questioned the astonishing discovery of the Japanese-Mongolian joint archaeological team in Mongolia.
Pan Zhaodong believes that several conditions must be met to discover the tomb of Genghis Khan. First of all, there must be a coffin; secondly, there must be physical evidence, like what Genghis Khan used during his lifetime; Again, there must be an exact written record, such as a stone inscription and the like. Otherwise, it cannot be proven to be the tomb of Genghis Khan.
Pan Zhaodong said that the vicinity of the Alzhai Grottoes found in the Etuoke Banner on the Ordos Plateau may be the real burial place of Genghis Khan. It is less than 200 kilometers away from the tomb of Genghis Khan in Ordos City, and the characteristics of landform and place names are extremely consistent with the description of Genghis Khan's burial place in historical materials such as "Secret History of Mongolia", "Historical Collection" and "Records of the Mughal History". In Cave No. 28 in the Alzhai Mountains, there is a mural closely related to the burial of Genghis Khan. Pan Zhaodong believes that this mural should be "Genghis Khan's Burial Map". This was once the rear of Genghis Khan, with heavy troops stationed and the distance from Liupan Mountain can be reached within 3 days.
Zhu Yaoting believes that only based on the joint archaeological discoveries of Japan and Mongolia is not enough to show that it is the tomb of Genghis Khan. According to historical records, at that time, the coffin was made by cutting the middle of the oak wood, and then in order to prevent the wood from decaying and disintegrating, three or four gold hoops were used. If you find Genghis Khan's burial ground, you must find these 3 golden hoops. For gold never decays. There should also be a large number of burial goods, according to records, Genghis Khan's burial with weapons and bows and arrows, there should also be war horses and palace maids, as for gold and silver treasures, many people have different opinions, but at least there should be something with the burial.
Judging from all these sources, we may be the messengers who uncover this secret at this moment. Mu Xiu and An Xiangfei quickly set up camp, and a small fire was lit on the grass, illuminating the dark night.
"We're going to do this tomorrow?" An Xiangfei asked first, and sat down next to the fire as he spoke.
"Tomorrow we will go up to the halfway point of the snowy mountain, and then find the dragon's eye, and we will be able to enter." As he spoke, Mu Xiu flipped the compass in his hand, his expression more solemn.
"Isn't this tomb dangerous, should we write something?" That's what worries me the most.
"The tomb of the dragon's head, once in a thousand years, no one has robbed it before, even the Maoshan technique in my memory is just a few simple words, the tomb of the dragon's head, gods and ghosts exist, if you want to youzou, treat it with respect." Makushu said.
"That means I don't know what to do." An Xiangfei scratched his head.
"When the time comes, let's go in and talk about it, there will always be a way." I said.
"yes, that's all there is to it." Mu Xiu said lightly, the compass was put into his arms again.
The temperature dropped quickly at night, and the three of us hid in our respective zhangpeng early, and slowly heard the sound of the wind whistling outside, long and long like the whimper of a woman and like the wail of a soldier on the battlefield and the neighing of a war horse.
Somehow, all of a sudden, I felt that the air around me had become heavier after this gust of wind, and the chill gradually penetrated the barrier, directly invading my body, and I tried my best to curl up my body, but at this moment, suddenly a few muffled thunders rang out again, which frightened me into a smart tremble.
Unexpectedly, it was pouring rain outside, and I used the walkie-talkie to call An Xiangfei and Mu to hear their reply, and my heart was calm, but I couldn't sleep anymore, and an inexplicable sense of fear was born in my heart.
