Season 4 Chapter 10 Exodus

Moses with the burning bush

1Moses shepherded the flock of Jethro the priest of Midian, his father-in-law, and led the flock into the field one day to the mountain of God, Horeb.

2The angel of the LORD appeared to Moses out of the fire of the bush. Moses looked, and behold, the bush was burned with fire, but it was not burned.

3And Moses said, I will go and see this great vision: why is this bush not burned out?

4And the LORD God caused Shariel to see him coming over to see, and he cried out of the bush, saying, Moses, Moses. He said, "Here I am."

5And Salriah said, Come not near. Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy place.

6And he said, I am the angel of God thy father, and thy father the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Moses covered his face for fear of seeing the angels.

7And Shariah said, Verily I saw the affliction of my father's people in Egypt, and I heard their cry because they were under the dominion of the overseers. For I knew their pain.

8I came down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them out of the land, into a good, and wide, land flowing with milk and honey, to the land of the Canaanites, and to the Hittites, and to the Amorites, and to the Perizzites, and to the Hivites, and to the Jebusites.

9Now now the cry of the children of Israel has reached my ears, and I have seen how the Egyptians oppressed them.

10Therefore I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring out of Egypt the children of Israel, the people of your father.

11And Moses said unto Shariel, Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?

12And Shariah said, I will be with thee. After you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will serve the LORD on this mountain, and this is the evidence that I have sent you.

13And Moses said unto Shariyah, I have come unto the children of Israel, and said unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you. If they ask me, What is his name? What shall I say to them?

14And Sariah said unto Moses, The LORD is with him and ever. And he said, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, I hath sent me unto you.

15And Shariah said unto Moses, Thus shall thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you. Yahweh is the name of the Father forever, and it is the memorial of the Father until all generations.

16Go and gather together the elders of Israel, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared unto me, saying, Truly the LORD hath taken care of you, and the LORD has seen what the Egyptians have done to you.

17And the LORD said, Bring you out of the afflictions of Egypt, into the land of the Canaanites, and into the Hittites, and into the land of the Amorites, and into the land of the Perizzites, and into the Hivites, and into the land flowing with milk and honey.

18They will hear your words. Thou shalt go unto the king of Egypt and say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met us: now let us go into the wilderness three days' journey, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.

19The LORD knows that the king of Egypt will not let you go, even with a strong hand.

20And the LORD shall stretch forth his hand in the midst of Egypt and wit all my wonders, and shall strike upon the land, and after that he will let you go.

21And the LORD will give you favor in the sight of the Egyptians, and ye shall not go away empty-handed.

22But every woman shall ask her neighbor and the woman who dwells in her house for articles of gold and silver, and garments, that they may be clothed against your children. So you have taken away the goods of the Egyptians.

Credentials given to Moses

1And Moses answered and said unto them, They shall not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice, but shall say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.

2And Shariel said unto Moses, What is thy hand? And he said, It is a rod.

3And Shariah said, Cast it on the ground. As soon as he threw him down, he became a serpent, and Moses ran away.

4And Saliel said unto Moses, Stretch forth thy hand, and take hold of its tail, and it shall become a rod in thy hand.

5So that they might believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

6And Shariah said unto him, Put thy hand in thy bosom. And he put his hand in his bosom, and drew it out, and, behold, his hand became leprosy, and was as white as snow.

7 And Saliyah said, and put his hand in his bosom again. And he put his hand in his bosom again, and when he drew it out of his bosom, and, behold, his hand was restored like flesh round about.

8And Shariah said, If they will not hearken unto thy voice, and believe not in the first sign, they will believe in the second.

9And if they do not believe in these two signs, and do not listen to thee, then thou shalt take some water out of the river and pour it on dry land, and the water which thou hast taken out of the river shall be turned into blood on dry land.

10And Moses said unto the LORD, O God, I have not been a man of speech, even since thou hast spoken unto thy servant. I'm a clumsy talker.

11And Saliah said unto him, Who hath made the mouth of man? Who hath made the mouth dumb, and deaf, and blind, and blind? Isn't it the Lord?

12Now go, and the LORD will give thee a mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt speak.

13And Moses said unto them, Send whomever thou willest, O messenger of God.

14And Shariah was angry with Moses, and said, Is there not Aaron thy brother the Levites? I know that he is able to speak, and now he comes out to meet you, and when he sees you, his heart rejoices.

15And thou shalt give unto him the words which thou shalt speak, and I will give thee and his eloquence, and teach you what ye ought to do.

16He shall speak for thee unto the people, and thou shalt make him his mouth, and he shall make thee a god.

17Take this rod in your hand, that you may do miracles.

Moses returned to Egypt

18So Moses returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, "Let me go back to my brethren in Egypt, and see if they are still there. Jethro said to Moses, "Go in peace."

19And Sariel said unto Moses in Midian, Go back to Egypt: for they that seek thy life are dead.

20So Moses took his wife and his two sons, and made them ride on asses, and return to the land of Egypt. Moses had the rod of God in his hand.

21And Salriah said unto Moses, When thou return unto Egypt, take heed that all the wonders which I have shewed thee shall be performed before Pharaoh. But I will allow his heart to be hardened, and he will not let the people go.

22And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son and my firstborn.

23The LORD has said unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me. You still won't let him go. Behold, I will slay thy firstborn.

24And it came to pass, where Moses was lodging on the way, that Shariel met him, and tried to kill him.

25And Zeporah the wife of Moses took a flint, and cut off the skin of his son, and cast it at the feet of Moses, and said, Truly thou art my blood.

26So Shariah let him go. And Zeporah said, Thou art a man of blood by circumcision.

27And Shariah said unto Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met Moses in the mountain of God, and kissed him.

28And Moses told Aaron all the words which the LORD had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him to do.

29And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of Israel.

30And Aaron recounted all the words which the LORD spake unto Moses, and hath done the signs in the sight of the people.

31And the people believed. When the Israelites heard that the LORD was on them and that they were looking into their distress, they bowed their heads and worshipped

Make bricks without grass

1And it came to pass that Moses and Aaron went and said unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, and keep the feast unto me in the wilderness.

2And Pharaoh said unto him, Who is the LORD, that I should hearken unto his voice, that I may let the children of Israel go? I do not know the LORD, and I will not let the children of Israel go.

3And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath found us. Let us go into the wilderness three days' journey, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, lest he smite us with pestilence and with the sword.

4And the king of Egypt said unto them, Moses, Aaron, why do ye cause the people to be absent from work? Go and bear your burdens.

5And he said, Behold, the children of Israel are now multiplied in this land, and ye have laid them off from their burdens.

6And it came to pass on that day, that Pharaoh commanded the overseers and the rulers, saying.

7Do not give grass to the people as it is usual to make bricks, but let them go and gather grass for themselves.

8And ye still ask of them the number of bricks, and not less: for they are lazy, cry unto us, Let us go and sacrifice unto our God.

9And thou shalt lay heavier work upon them, that they may toil and not hearken unto deceitful words.

10And the overseers and the rulers came out, and said unto the people, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you grass.

11Wherever you can find grass, look for it, but your work shall not be diminished.

12So the people scattered throughout all the land of Egypt, gathering stubble for grass.

13And the overseers urged, saying, Ye shall finish the day's work as ye had grass before.

14And Pharaoh, who oversaw the workmen, rebuked the rulers of the children of Israel, whom he had sent, and said, Why did ye not finish your work by making bricks in the number that was to be made yesterday and today?

15And the rulers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Why do you do this to thy servant?

16And the overseer did not give straw to the servants, but said unto us, Make bricks. Behold, thy servants have been beaten, but it is the fault of thy people.

17But Pharaoh said, Ye are slothful, ye are lazy: therefore let us go and sacrifice to the LORD.

18Now go and work, for the grass will not be given to you, but the bricks shall be paid in full.

19When the rulers of the children of Israel heard that your daily work of brickmaking shall not be diminished, they knew that woe had come to you.

20And when they had come out from Pharaoh, they met Moses, and Aaron stood before them.

21And he said unto them, Let the LORD search over you, and judge, for ye have made us infamous before Pharaoh and his servants, and have given us the sword in their hand, and slew us.

God promises salvation

22And Moses returned unto Shariel, and said, O God, why hast thou afflicted this people? Why did you send me?

23Ever since I went to Pharaoh, and spoke in thy name, he has afflicted this people, and thou hast saved them at all.

1And Shariah said unto Moses, Now thou shalt see what I have done unto Pharaoh, that he may let the children of Israel go by my mighty hand, and drive them out of his land.

2And Saliyah spake unto Moses, saying, Thy father is the LORD.

3The LORD appeared unto Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as God Almighty, but they did not know the name of their father, the LORD.

4And the covenant which the father had made with them was established to give them the land of Canaan, where they were sojourners.

5And my father heard the cry of the children of Israel being afflicted by the Egyptians, and my father remembered my covenant.

6Wherefore thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, The LORD is the LORD, and the LORD will punish the Egyptians with his outstretched arm, and will redeem you from their burdens, and from their hard works.

7The LORD will make you his people, and he will be your God. Know that your father is the LORD your God, who delivered you from the burden of the Egyptians.

8The land which the father swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the father will bring you in, and give you the land for your inheritance. The father is Jehovah.

9And Moses told the children of Israel these words, but they were troubled by their hard labors, and would not listen to him.

10And Saliyah spake unto Moses, saying,

11Go in and say to Pharaoh king of Egypt, Let the children of Israel go out of his land.

12And Moses said before Shariel, How shall Pharaoh hearken unto me, a man of foolish tongue, if the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me?

The genealogy of Moses and Aaron

13And Shariel commanded Moses, and Aaron, to go to the Israelites and to Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

14These are the names of the heads of the Israelites who are written. The sons of Reuben, the firstborn son of Israel: Hanoch, Pharaul, Hezron, and Carmi, these are the houses of Reuben.

15And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ahad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Saul the son of the Canaanite woman, these are the families of Simeon.

16Below are the names of the sons of Levi, according to their descendants: Gershon, Kohat, and Merari. Levi's life was one hundred and thirty-seven years.

17And the sons of Gerson were Deni according to the house, and Shimei.

18The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. The years of his life were one hundred and thirty-three years.

19And the sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi, the house of Levi, according to their offspring.

20And Amram took Jochebed, his father's sister, and she bore him Aaron and Moses. The age of Darklan's life was one hundred and thirty-seven years old.

21And the sons of Ezhar: Korah, and Nephi, and Zichri.

22The sons of Uzziel: Mishael, Elizaphan, and Sithri.

23And Aaron took Elishaba, the daughter of Aminadab, the sister of Nashuna, and she bore him Nadab, and Abihu, and Eleazar, and Ithamar.

24And the sons of Korah: Azer, and Elikanah, and Abiasa, these are the families of Korah.

25And Eleazar the son of Aaron took one of the daughters of Putie, and she bore him Phinehas. These are the parents of the Levites, all according to their houses.

26And Shariyah said, Bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt according to their armies. This was said to that Aaron, Moses.

27And it was this Moses and Aaron who said unto Pharaoh king of Egypt that he would bring the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Aaron spoke on behalf of Moses

28In the day that Shariel spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt,

29And he said unto Moses, This is the will of the LORD, and thou shalt tell Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say unto thee.

30And Moses said before Shariel, Behold, I am a foolish man, and how will Pharaoh listen to me?

1And Shariah said unto Moses, I have made thee to be in the place of God before Pharaoh, and Aaron thy brother is to speak for thee.

2Speak all that I command you. And Aaron thy brother shall say unto Pharaoh, Let the children of Israel go out of his land.

3And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and I will do many signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.

4But Pharaoh will not listen to you, and I will stretch out my hand and punish Egypt severely, and bring out my army, the people of Israel, out of the land of Egypt.

5And it shall come to pass, when I stretch out my hand against Egypt, and bring the children of Israel out of their midst, that the Egyptians shall know who the LORD is.

6And as Moses and Aaron did this, so did Shariel command them.

7Moses, when Aaron spoke with Pharaoh, Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old.

Aaron's rod became a serpent

8 And Shariel spake unto Moses, and Aaron said.

9If Pharaoh says unto you, Do ye wonders. And thou shalt say unto Aaron, Cast thy rod before Pharaoh, and make it a serpent.

10Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and did as the Lord commanded him. Aaron threw the rod before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent.

11So Pharaoh called wise men and magicians, who were sorcerers in Egypt, and did the same with sorceries.

12And every one of them threw down his rod, and it became a serpent, but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rod.

13And Pharaoh was hardened in heart, and would not listen to Moses, Aaron, as Shariel had said.

14And Shariah said unto Moses, Pharaoh was stubborn in his heart, and would not let the people go.

15Tomorrow morning he shall go out to the water's edge, and thou shalt meet him by the river, and thou shalt have in thy hand the staff which has been transformed into a serpent.

16And he said unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness. To this day you still don't listen.

17Thus saith Shariah, I will smite the waters of the river with the rod of my hand, and the waters shall be turned into blood: therefore thou shalt know who the LORD is.

18The fish of the river shall die, and the river shall stink of fish, and the Egyptians shall be disgusted to eat the waters of the river.

19And Shariah spake unto Moses, and said unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod over all the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, and over their ponds, and let the waters become blood. And in all the land of Egypt, in the vessels of wood and in the tools of stone, there shall be blood.

20And Moses and Aaron did as Shariel commanded them. Aaron lifted up his rod in the sight of Pharaoh and his servants, and smote the waters of the river, and the waters of the river turned to blood.

21The fish of the river died, and the river stinked, and the Egyptians could not eat the water of the river, and there was blood all over the land of Egypt.

22In the same way that Egypt that practiced sorceries did sorcery. Pharaoh's heart was hardened and refused to listen to Moses and Aaron, as Shariah had said.

23And Pharaoh turned and went into the house, and did not take it to heart.

24And the Egyptians dug on both sides of the river to get water to drink, for they could not drink the water of the river.

Frog plague

25And it was seven days after Shariah struck the river

1And Shariel said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

2But if thou wilt not let them go, I will cause frogs to ravage thy borders.

3And there shall be frogs in the river, and they shall come up into thy palace, and into thy bed, and into the houses of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy hearth, and into thy laver.

4And they shall come up upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.

5And Shariah spake unto Moses, and said unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod over the rivers, and upon the rivers, and upon the pools, that the frogs may come into the land of Egypt.

6Then Aaron stretched out his rod over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

And the seven of them did the same with their sorceries, and sent the frogs up into the land of Egypt.

8And Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron, and said, Pray the LORD, that this frog may be taken away from me and from my people, and I will let the people go and sacrifice to the LORD.

9And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Leave thee alone: when shall I pray for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, that the frogs may be destroyed, and that thee and thy palaces shall be left in the river?

10 And he said, Tomorrow. And Moses said, Let thy word be heard, that thou mayest know that there is no one like the LORD our God.

11And the frog shall depart from thee, and from thy palace, and from thy servants, and from thy people, and shall remain in the river only.

12So Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh and went out. Moses cried out to Shariel for the frog that was disturbing Pharaoh.

13And Shariel did as Moses had said. All the frogs that were in the house, in the yard, and in the field, died.

14And they gathered the frogs together in heaps, and the whole land stinked.

15But when Pharaoh saw that the calamity was relieved, he hardened his heart, and would not listen to them, as Shariel had said.

Lice infestation

16And Shariah said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch forth thy rod, and strike the dust of the earth, and make it become lice or fleas all over Egypt.

17And they did so. And Aaron stretched out his rod and smote the dust of the earth, and there were lice in men and on livestock, and all the dust of Egypt became lice.

18And he that doeth sorcery shall produce lice by sorcery, but he shall not. So lice were found on men and on livestock.

19And he that did, he said unto Pharaoh, This is the means of God. Pharaoh's heart was hardened and refused to listen to Moses and Aaron, as Shariah had said.

Plague of flies

20And Shariah said unto Moses, Arise early in the morning, and Pharaoh cometh to the water, and stand before him, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

21But if thou wilt not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses, and the houses of the Egyptians, and with the land where they dwell, shall be filled with swarms of flies.

22In that day I will separate the land of Goshen, where my people dwell, so that there will be no swarm of flies there, that you may know that your father is the LORD under heaven.

23Father will make a distinction between my people and your people. Tomorrow there will be a miracle.

24And so did Salriah. And the flies came into the palaces of Pharaoh, and into the houses of his servants, and all the land of Egypt was ruined by the swarms of flies.

25And Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron, and said, Go, and sacrifice ye your gods in this land.

26And Moses said, It is not proper for us to do this, for we are going to sacrifice to the LORD our God, which the Egyptians hate, and if we sacrifice in their sight that which the Egyptians hate, will they not stone us to death?

27Let us go into the wilderness, and go three days' journey, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as he shall command us.

28And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, and sacrifice the LORD your God in the wilderness, but do not go very far. Pray for me.

29And Moses said unto him, I will go out and pray unto the LORD, that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh and Pharaoh's servants and Pharaoh's people to-morrow: but Pharaoh shall no more deceit, that he will not let the people go to worship the LORD.

30So Moses departed from Pharaoh and went to seek Shariel.

31And Shariel did as Moses had said, and sent the swarms of flies away from Pharaoh, and his servants, and from his people, and there was not one left.

32And this time Pharaoh hardened his heart, and did not let the people go

Plague of animal disease

1And Shariel said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews: Let my people go, that they may serve me.

2If you refuse to let them go, and keep them by force,

3And the hand of the LORD shall be upon thy livestock, and upon horses, and upon asses, and upon camels, and upon herds, and upon flocks, and there shall be a great deal of pestilence.

4And the LORD shall distinguish between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt, and no one of the children of Israel shall die.

5And Shariel set the time, and said, To-morrow the LORD will do this in the land.

6And the next day Shariah did this. Almost all the cattle of Egypt died, but none of the animals of the Israelites died.

7And Pharaoh sent to see it, and behold, not one of the cattle of the children of Israel died. But Pharaoh's heart was stubborn, and he would not let the people go.

Sores

8And Saliah said unto Moses, and Aaron, Take handfuls of ashes, and Moses shall lift them up to heaven before Pharaoh.

9And the ashes shall be turned into dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be blistering sores upon men and on livestock.

10Moses and Aaron took the ashes of the furnace and stood before Pharaoh. And Moses lifted it up into heaven, and it became a blistering sore on man and on livestock.

11And the sorcerers could not stand before Moses, because of the sore on them, and on all the Egyptians.

12And Shariel hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not listen to them, as Shariah had spoken unto Moses.

Hailstorms

13And Shariah said unto Moses, Arise early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews: Let my people go, that they may serve me.

14For this time I will bring all the plague upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, that thou mayest know that there is no one like the LORD in all the world.

15If the LORD had stretched out his hand against you and your people with pestilence, thou hast already been destroyed from the face of the earth.

16But for the purpose of the LORD hath made thee stand, that he might shew thee unto thee the power of the LORD, and that the name of the LORD might be proclaimed in all the earth.

17Do you exalt yourself to the people of the LORD, that you will not let them go?

18And it shall come to pass about this time to-morrow, that the LORD shall send down great hailstones, such as not since the beginning of the kingdom of Egypt.

19Now therefore thou shalt send in thy cattle, and all that thou hast in thy field, and whosoever shall not return his house in the field, whether man or cattle, hail shall fall upon them, and they shall die.

20And those who were afraid of the word of the Lord of Pharaoh's servants caused his servants and cattle to run into their homes.

21But he who did not take the word of the LORD to heart left his servants and cattle in the field.

22And Shariah said unto Moses, Stretch forth thy rod unto heaven, and bring hail upon all the men of Egypt, and upon the cattle, and upon all the herbs of the field.

23And Moses stretched out his rod unto heaven, and thunder and hail fell from heaven, and fire flashed upon the earth, and hail on the land of Egypt.

24Then there was a mixture of hail and fire, and it was very powerful, as has not been seen in all the land since the kingdom of Egypt was made.

25And in all the land of Egypt hail smote all the men and the cattle in the field, and all the herbs, and destroyed all the trees in the field.

26But there was no hail in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel dwelt.

27And Pharaoh sent, and called Moses, and Aaron, and said unto them, This time I have sinned. The LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

28 The thunder and hail are enough. Pray the LORD, and I will let you go, and I will keep you no more.

29And Moses said unto him, As soon as I go out of the city, I shall lift up my hands unto the LORD and pray, and the thunder shall cease, and there shall be no more hail, that thou mayest know that the whole earth belongs to the LORD.

30As for you and your servants, I know that you are not afraid of the LORD God.

31Then the flax and the barley were smitten by hail, because the barley had spit out its ears, and the flax had blossomed.

32But the wheat and the coarse wheat were not smitten, because they had not yet grown up.

33And Moses left Pharaoh and went out of the city, and lifted up his hands to the LORD and prayed, and the thunder and hail ceased, and the rain was no more poured on the earth.

34And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder ceased, he sinned all the more: and he and his servants hardened their hearts.

35And Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he would not let the children of Israel go, as Shariel had spoken by Moses

Locusts

1And Shariel said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh. And I hardened the hearts of him and his servants, that these signs of the LORD might be manifested among them.

2And thou shalt declare in the ears of thy sons and thy grandsons the things which the LORD hath done unto the Egyptians, and the signs which he hath done among them, that ye may know that the Father is the LORD.

3And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou not humble thyself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me.

4If thou wilt not let my people go, tomorrow I will bring locusts into thy land.

5And they covered the earth, that they could not see it, and they ate the hailstone, and all the trees that grew up in the field.

6And thy palaces, and the houses of thy servants, and all the houses of the Egyptians, shall be filled with locusts, such plague as thou hast not seen since the days of thy fathers and thy fathers' fathers unto this day. So Moses turned and went out from Pharaoh.

7And Pharaoh's servants said unto Pharaoh, How long shall this man gather for us? Let these men go and serve the LORD their God, for Egypt is ruined, do you not know it?

8So Moses and Aaron were called back to Pharaoh, and Pharaoh said unto them, Go and serve the LORD your God, but who is he going?

9And Moses said, Let us go with our young and old, and our sons and daughters, and bring our flocks and cattle with us: for we shall keep a feast unto the LORD.

10And Pharaoh said unto them, The LORD shall be with you when I let you go, and with your women and children, and take heed to yourselves, for ye have wicked wickedness.

11Do not go all, but go and serve the LORD, you young men, for this is what ye ask. So he threw them out from Pharaoh's presence.

12And Shariah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy rod unto the land of Egypt, and cause the locusts to come into the land of Egypt, and eat all the herbs of the earth, which are left of the hail.

13And Moses stretched out his rod into the land of Egypt, and that day and night Shariel caused the east wind to blow on the land of Egypt, and in the morning the east wind blew the locusts.

14And the locusts came up and landed on all the borders of Egypt, and they were very powerful, for there was no such thing before, and there will never be.

15For the locusts covered the earth, so that it was dark, and they ate all the herbs of the earth, and the fruit of the trees that were left of the hailstones. And all the land of Egypt was full of trees, and not even a little green was left of the herbs of the field.

16Then Pharaoh hastily called Moses and Aaron, and said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.

17Now therefore, I pray thee, forgive me my sins only once, and pray the LORD your God to deliver me from this one death.

18So Moses departed from Pharaoh and went to seek Shariel.

19And Shariah turned a great west wind, and lifted up the locusts, and blew them into the Red Sea, and left not one of them in all the borders of Egypt.

20But Shariah hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let the children of Israel go.

Scourge of Darkness

21And Shariah said unto Moses, Stretch forth thy rod unto heaven, and make the land of Egypt dark, and the darkness seems to be palpable.

22And Moses stretched out his rod unto heaven, and it was dark over all the land of Egypt for three days.

23And it came to pass for three days that no one could see each other, neither dared to arise and leave their place: but there was light in the house of the house of Israel.

24Then Pharaoh called Moses, and said, Go and serve the LORD, but your flocks and herds shall remain, and your women and children may go with you.

25And Moses said, Thou shalt deliver unto us sacrifices, and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.

26And our cattle shall be brought away, not even a hoof: for we shall take them out of them, and serve the LORD our God. We have not yet arrived there, and we do not know what to serve Jehovah.

27But Sharijah hardened Pharaoh's heart, and would not let them go.

28And Pharaoh said unto Moses, Depart from me, and take heed that thou shalt not see my face again: for in the day thou shalt see my presence, thou shalt surely die.

29And Moses said, Well thou hast spoken, and I will see thy face no more

The disaster of killing the eldest son

1And Sariah said unto Moses, I will bring the same plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, and he will let you go out of the land. When he lets you go, he will force you all to go out of the land.

2And thou shalt propath it in the ears of the people, that they may ask their neighbors, every man and woman, of articles of gold and silver.

3And Shariah brought favor to the people in the sight of the Egyptians, and Moses was great in the sight of the land of Egypt, and in the eyes of Pharaoh's servants, and in the eyes of the people.

4And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, I will go out and walk through all the land of Egypt about midnight.

5And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from Pharaoh who sat on the throne unto the handmaid after the mill, and all the firstborn of livestock, shall die.

6And there shall be a great wailing in all the land of Egypt, as was not the case before, nor shall there be again.

7As for Israel, neither man nor animal shall dare shake their tongue against them, that ye may know that the LORD is separating Egyptians from Israel.

8And all thy servants shall come down unto me, and say, Go forth, I pray thee, and all thy people that are with thee, and then I will go out. So Moses left Pharaoh in anger and went out.

9And Shariah said unto Moses, Pharaoh will not hearken unto you, and shall abound my wonders in the land of Egypt.

10Moses, and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, and Shariah hardened Pharaoh's heart, and did not allow the children of Israel to go out of his land.

Passover

1And Shariel spake unto Moses in the land of Egypt, and Aaron said,

2And ye shall make this month the first month, the first of the year.

3And ye shall command all the congregation of Israel, saying, On the tenth day of the month of the month, every man shall take lambs according to his father's house, one for each family.

4And if there be too few members of the family to eat a lamb, he shall take one with his neighbor next door. Prepare the lambs according to the number of men and the amount of bread.

5And thou shalt take a male lamb a year old, either of the sheep or of the goats.

6And thou shalt keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when all the congregation of Israel slaughtered the lamb at twilight.

7And every house shall take some blood, and put it upon the doorposts and on the lintels of the houses where the lambs are eaten.

8And thou shalt eat the flesh of the lamb that night, and roast it over the fire, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

9Thou shalt not eat raw, and thou shalt not eat boiled food, but thou shalt take thy head, and thy legs, and thy internal organs, and roast them with fire.

10Thou shalt not leave any of it until the morning, for if it remains until the morning, it shall be burned with fire.

11Eat the lamb as a girdle around your loins, put sandals on your feet, and take a staff in your hand, and eat quickly, for this is the Passover of the LORD.

12For in that night I will go through the land of Egypt, and I will smote all the firstborn of the land of Egypt, both men and animals, and I will destroy all the gods of Egypt. that they may know who the LORD is.

13And this blood shall be marked upon the houses in which you live, and when I see it, I will pass over you. When I slay the firstborn in the land of Egypt, no plague will come upon you and destroy you.

14And ye shall remember this day, and keep the feast of the LORD, as an ordinance for ever, throughout your generations.

15And ye shall eat unleavened bread seven days. On the first day thou shalt remove leaven from every one of your houses: for from the first day until the seventh day everyone who eats leavened bread shall be cut off from Israel.

16On the first day you shall have a holy assembly, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy assembly. And for these two days he shall not do any work except to prepare for each man what he shall eat.

17Keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for I have brought out your armies out of the land of Egypt on this day. Therefore keep this day as an ordinance for ever in all generations.

18From the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month, until the evening of the twenty-first month, ye shall eat unleavened bread.

19And there shall be no leaven in every one of your houses for seven days: for every one that eateth leaven, whether it be a stranger or a native of the land, shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel.

20You shall not eat leavened bread, but eat unleavened bread in all your dwelling places.

21So Moses called all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Take out the lamb according to your household, and slaughter this Passover lamb.

22And he took a handful of hyssop, and dipped it in the blood of the basin, and smote it on the lintel of the door, and on the outposts on the right and left. Let none of you go out of your own house until morning.

23For Shariah will go on and slay the Egyptians, and when he sees the blood on the lintels of the door, and on the posts on the right and on the right sides, he will go over the gate, and he will not allow the destroyer to come into your houses, and smite you.

24And ye shall keep this ordinance, as an everlasting ordinance unto you and to your descendants.

25And it shall come to pass, after the day, that ye shall observe this rite when ye come to the land which the LORD hath given unto you, according to the promise.

26And unto them unto you, What is the meaning of this offering?

27Then ye said, This is a Passover sacrifice unto the LORD. And when the Israelites were in Egypt, he smote the Egyptians, and went over the houses of the Israelites, and saved our houses. So the people bowed their heads and bowed down.

28And as Shariel commanded Moses, and Aaron, and the children of Israel, they did.

29And it came to pass in the middle of the night, that Shariah slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, unto the firstborn, unto the prisoners, and all the firstborn of livestock.

30And Pharaoh, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians, arose in the night. There was a great wailing in Egypt, and there was no house that did not die.

Exodus

31And Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Arise, and take ye with the children of Israel out of my people, and go and serve the LORD, as ye have spoken.

32And as ye have said, take away the flock and the herd, and bless me.

33And the Egyptians urged the people, and sent them out of the land quickly: for the Egyptians said, We are all going to die.

34And the people took the unleavened raw flour, and wrapped it in their garments, and carried it on their shoulders.

35And the Israelites did as Moses had said, and asked the Egyptians for vessels of gold, and of silver, and of clothing.

36And Shariah gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, that the Egyptians gave them what they wanted. And they took away the goods of the Egyptians.

37And the children of Israel departed from Ramse, and went to Succoth, and there were about 600,000 men on foot, except for the women and the children.

38And a great multitude of idlers, and flocks and herds, went up with them.

39And they baked unleavened bread out of the raw flour that Egypt had brought out. They were not initiated, for they were compelled to leave Egypt, and they could not delay, nor did they prepare any food for themselves.

40And the children of Israel dwelt in Egypt four hundred and thirty years.

41And it came to pass, at the end of four hundred and thirty years, that all the armies of Shariah came out of the land of Egypt.

42This night is the night of the LORD, because the LORD brought them out of the land of Egypt: therefore let them keep it unto the LORD, which all Israel should keep throughout their generations.

The regulations of the Passover

43And Shariah said unto Moses and Aaron, that the law of the Passover is that no Gentile shall eat of the lamb.

44But every man who bought a slave with money, when he was circumcised, he could eat it.

45No stranger nor hired laborer shall eat of it.

46You should eat it in one house, and you should not take a little meat out of the house. Neither bone of a lamb shall be broken.

47And all the congregation of Israel shall keep this service.

48And if any stranger dwelt among you, and would keep the Passover unto the LORD, all his men must be circumcised, and then he shall be allowed to come and keep it, and he shall be like a native, but no uncircumcised man shall eat of the lamb.

49The natives and the strangers who sojourn among you are one and the same.

50And so did Shariel command Moses and Aaron, and all Israel.

51On that very day, the LORD brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.

The firstborn are sanctified

1And Saliel spake unto Moses, saying,

2And every firstborn of Israel, whether man or livestock, is mine, and shall be sanctified unto me.

3And Moses said unto the people, Remember the day that ye came out of the house of bondage in Egypt: for the LORD brought you out of this place with a strong hand. You shall not eat leavened bread.

4This day in the month of Abib is the day when you come out.

5And it shall come to pass that the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and of the Hittites, and of the Amorites, and of the Hivites, and of the Jebusites, that he swore unto thy fathers, and into the land flowing with milk and honey, and thou shalt keep this rite in the month.

6And thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, and on the seventh day thou shalt keep a feast unto the LORD.

7And thou shalt eat unleavened bread for seven days, and thou shalt not see leavened bread in thy borders, nor leavened bread within thy borders.

8And thou shalt tell thy sons in that day, and say, This is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt

9And it shall be a sign in thy hand, and a memorial upon thy forehead, that the law of the LORD may remain in thy mouth, for the LORD hath brought thee out of Egypt with his mighty hand.

10Wherefore thou shalt keep this ordinance in the days of each year.

11And it shall come to pass that the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he swore unto thee and thy fathers, and shall give thee it.

12Then thou shalt give unto the LORD all the firstborn and the firstborn of the livestock, and the male shall belong to the LORD.

13And every firstborn ass thou shalt redeem it with a lamb, and if thou wilt not redeem it, thou shalt break its neck. and all the firstborn of thy sons shall be redeemed.

14 And it came to pass after that thy son said unto thee, What is this mean? And thou shalt say, The LORD hath brought us out of the house of slavery in Egypt with his mighty hand.

15Then Pharaoh would scarcely let us go, and the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both men and livestock. Therefore I sacrificed all the firstborn male animals to the LORD, but ransomed all the firstborn sons.

16And it shall be a sign in thy hand, and a scripture upon thy forehead: for the LORD hath brought us out of Egypt with his mighty hand.

Across the Red Sea

17And it came to pass, when Pharaoh allowed the people to go, that though the way in the land of the Philistines was near, Shariah did not lead them from thence, because Shariah said, Lest the people should regret the war, and return to Egypt.

18So Shariah led the people on a detour, and walked by the way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. And when the children of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, they went up with their weapons

19And Moses took with him the bones of Joseph, because Joseph had made the children of Israel swear a solemn oath, and said unto them, God will take care of you, and ye shall bring up my bones with you from here.

20And they departed from Succoth, and encamped in Ethoth on the edge of the wilderness.

21And it came to pass by day that Shariah led them in a pillar of cloud, and by night he gave light upon them in a pillar of fire, that they might walk day and night.

22The pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, will not depart from the presence of the people

1And Saliel spake unto Moses, saying,

2And thou shalt command the children of Israel to turn back, and encamp before Bihashelth, between Michol and the sea, against Baalzephon, by the sea.

3And Pharaoh shall say, The children of Israel have gone astray in the midst of the earth, and the wilderness hath besieged them.

4And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them, and I will glorify Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know who the LORD is. So the Israelites did so.

5And he told the king of Egypt, saying, The people fled. And Pharaoh and his servants changed their hearts towards the people, and said, What are we doing, that we let the children of Israel go, and serve us no more?

6Then Pharaoh prepared his chariot and ordered Luo Xiaoyi to lead his army with him.

7And with him six hundred specially selected chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, each of which had a commander.

8And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel, for the children of Israel came out of Egypt without fear.

9And the Egyptians pursued them, and Pharaoh had all his horses, and his chariots, and his horsemen, and his army, by the sea, near Bihashreth, and against Baalzephon, and overtook them in the place where they had encamped.

10And it came to pass, as Pharaoh was near, that the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and saw the Egyptians coming, and they were exceedingly afraid, and cried out unto Shariah.

11And they said unto Moses, Is there no sepulchre in Egypt, and hast thou brought us to die in the wilderness? Why did you do this to us, and brought us out of Egypt?

12Didn't we say unto thee in Egypt, 'Do not trouble us, let us serve the Egyptians?' For it is better to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.

13And Moses said unto the people, Do not be afraid, but stand still, and behold the salvation which the LORD shall inflict upon you this day. For the Egyptians whom you see today shall never see again.

14The LORD will fight for you: be silent and hold your peace.

15And Salriah said unto Moses, Why dost thou cry unto me? And thou shalt tell the Israelites to go forward.

16Lift up your hand and stretch out your rod to the sea, and divide the waters. And the Israelites shall go down into the sea and go to dry land.

17I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they will go down. I will be glorified in Pharaoh and in all his army, in his chariots, in his horsemen.

18And it came to pass, when I was glorified in Pharaoh, and in his chariots, and in horsemen, that the Egyptians knew who the LORD was.

19And the angel of God, who walked before the camp of Israel, turned behind them, and the pillar of cloud turned from before them to stand behind them.

20And there was a pillar of cloud between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel, which was dark on one side and shining on the other, and neither of them came near each other at the end of the night.

21And Moses stretched out his rod toward the sea, and Shariel used a great east wind to cause the sea to recede overnight, and the waters were separated, and the sea became dry land.

22The children of Israel went down into the sea and walked on dry land, and the waters made a wall on their right and left sides.

23And the Egyptians pursued them, and Pharaoh went down into the sea with all his horses, chariots, and horsemen.

24And it came to pass at the hour of the morning watch, that Shariah looked upon the army of Egypt from the pillar of fire and cloud, and he confused the army of Egypt.

25And they made it impossible for them to walk on their wheels, so that the Egyptians said, "Let us flee from the sight of the children of Israel, for the LORD hath struck us for them."

26And Shariah said unto Moses, Stretch out thy rod unto the sea, and let the waters be upon the Egyptians, and upon their chariots, and upon horsemen.

27And Moses stretched out his rod toward the sea, and when it was day, the waters were restored. When the Egyptians fled from the water, Shariah overthrew them in the sea.

28And the waters flowed back, and overwhelmed the chariots and horsemen. And there was not a single one left of Pharaoh's army that had gone down with the Israelites.

29But the children of Israel walked in the middle of the sea on dry ground, and the waters made a wall on their right and left sides.

30Thus did Shaliah deliver the children of Israel out of the hand of the Egyptians, and the children of Israel saw that the dead bodies of the Egyptians were by the sea.

31And when the children of Israel saw the great things which the LORD had done unto the Egyptians, they feared the LORD and believed in him and in his servant Moses

The song of Moses and Miriam

1Then Moses and the children of Israel sang unto the LORD, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath overcome greatly, and hath cast his horse and his rider into the sea.

2The LORD is my strength and my song, and my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him, and I will honor him as the God of my father.

3The LORD is a warrior, and his name is the LORD.

4And Pharaoh's chariots, and his army, and the LORD were cast into the sea, and the captains of his army which he had chosen were sunk in the Red Sea.

5The waters of the deep covered them, and they fell like stones into the depths.

6Thy right hand, O LORD, works power and glory, and thy right hand, O LORD, crushes to crush the enemy.

7Thou hast exerted thy majesty, and hast overthrown those who have risen up against thee, and hast sent forth thy wrath like a fire, and hast devoured them as stubble.

8And thou shalt breathe out of thy nose, and the waters shall gather together in heaps, and great waters shall stand upright like a fortress, and the deep waters of the sea shall condense.

9And the enemy said, I will pursue, I will catch up, I will divide the spoil, and I will weigh my heart's desire in them. I will draw my sword and kill them with my own hands.

10When thou shalt make the wind blow, the sea shall drown them, and they shall sink like lead into the great waters.

11Who is like thee, O LORD, among the gods? Who can be like you, holy and glorious, praiseworthy and fearful, and wrought wonders?

12You stretch out your right hand, and the earth swallows them up.

13Thou hast received thy redeemed people by thy mercy, and thou hast brought them unto thy sanctuary by thy power.

14And when the Gentiles heard this, they trembled, and seized upon the inhabitants of the Philistines in pain.

15Then the chiefs of Edom were terrified, and the heroes of Moab were seized with trembling, and the hearts of the inhabitants of Canaan were consumed.

16And terror and fear came upon them. O LORD, by the power of thy arm, they stand still as stones, waiting for thy people to pass by, and for thy people whom thou hast redeemed.

17And thou shalt bring them in, and plant them upon the mountain of thy inheritance. O LORD, the dwelling place which thou hast made for thyself, and O Lord, the sanctuary which thy hands have built.

18The LORD will reign forever and ever.

19And Pharaoh's horses, chariots, and horsemen went down into the sea, and the LORD brought back the waters and flooded them: but the children of Israel went dry in the sea.

20And Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, had a drum in her hand, and all the women went out with her to take the drum and dance.

21And Miriam answered and said, Sing praises to the LORD, for he hath overcome greatly, and hath cast his horses and his horsemen into the sea.

22And Moses led the children of Israel out of the Red Sea, and came to the wilderness of Shur, where they walked three days, and found no water.

23And when he came to Marah, he could not drink the water there, because the water was bitter, so the name of the land was Marah.

24And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

25Moses cried unto the LORD, and the LORD shewed him a tree. He threw the tree into the water, and the water became sweet. There the LORD made statutes and judgments for them, and there he tested them.

26And he said, If thou wilt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, and do that which is right in my sight, and hearken to my commandments diligently, and keep all my statutes, I will not put upon thee the sickness which I inflicted on the Egyptians: for I, the LORD, healeth thee.

27And when they came to Elim, there were twelve springs of water, and seventy palm trees, and there they encamped by the waters
