Chapter 12 Flying Lessons
Throughout the weekend, Ryan was called by Hermione to read books in the library except for a walk around the Black Lagoon on Saturday morning. Originally, Ryan didn't want to go, but after observing in the common room for a few days, he found that the entertainment in the wizarding world was nothing more than some chess and card projects or Quidditch, which was really boring for Ryan, who had traveled from the information age. In contrast, the various books on the wizarding world are more interesting.
In addition to reading, Ryan sat by the fire in the common room and chatted with his classmates on the evening of the holiday.
While helping his classmates, Ryan finally knows why professors get angry when it comes to grading assignments. Some people copy the original text in the textbook in large paragraphs, and some people don't make sense at all in the paragraphs, and the most extreme ones even take a paragraph of Potions homework after the transformation class when the number of words in the homework is not enough. Not to mention the sheer number of grammar and spelling mistakes that even Ryan hadn't made in his previous life.
It can only be said that the teachers at Hogwarts are very good-tempered. If he were to be the teacher, he would definitely swell the paws of a few opportunistic bear children.
Looking at the pleading eyes of his classmates like small animals, the soft-hearted Ryan could only sigh silently. Little by little, these little ones were inspired to write their homework and taught them the format of writing essays in their previous lives.
On Sunday night, though. Ryan also firmly refused the requests of individual students to copy their homework.
As the days passed, Ryan slowly established the image of a principled and good person among Gryffindor's classmates. Of course, there is also the image of Hermione Granger as a somewhat withdrawn nerd at the same time. Ryan had hinted to Hermione a few times about the problem, but she still went her own way.
Finally, a little over a month after the start of the school year, a notice was posted in the Gryffindor common room that flying lessons would begin on Thursday - Gryffindor students were to take lessons with Slytherin students. Aside from the fact that it was a bit frustrating to be with Slytherin, the rest of the news was quite exciting.
Within a few days of the notice being posted, everyone from the wizarding family was chattering about Quidditch, with the exception of Neville Longbottom. Ryan had heard a lot of stories, but he couldn't really grasp the fun of Quidditch.
However, Ryan also learned from the chat of his classmates that every few years, there would always be one or two young wizards who were forced to apply for exemption because of their insurmountable fear of heights, and then they were treated as cowards in the hospital and died socially. He prayed silently that he wouldn't be one of the unfortunate ones.
Amid everyone's heated discussion, it was Thursday. In the morning at breakfast, Hermione kept muttering about some flight instructions she had read from a library book called Quidditch Origins. Everyone except Neville was a little tired of her chatter.
Seeing this, Ryan made a quiet gesture to Hermione. "It's actually the same as swimming, no amount of theoretical learning is of much use, the most important thing is to give it a try. Hermione opened her mouth as if to retort something. But the owl's letter interrupted what she was about to say.
Neville's grandmother sent her a memory ball. It was almost snatched by Malfoy, but Professor McGonagall quickly arrived to deal with the matter.
At half-past three in the afternoon, the Gryffindor and Slytherin first-year students were on the front field for their first flying lesson. The weather was nice and it was a good day to fly.
There are dozens of flying brooms neatly arranged on the ground, and I heard the seniors say that these brooms are all old, and even a few can be called antiques.
Ryan glanced at the broom. It turned out that many of the broom branches had fallen off a lot, and the place where the end of the hand was held was also warmly glowed. It seems that the situation with these brooms is worrying.
Their teacher, Mrs. Hodge, came. She has short gray hair and two yellow eyes, like the eyes of an eagle. She is a very capable-looking lady.
"Okay, what are you all waiting for?" She snapped, "Everybody stands next to a broomstick. Hurry, hurry, hurry. ”
When everyone stands up. Mrs. Hodge shouted in front: "Stretch out your right hand, put it above the broomstick, and say, 'Get up!.'"
"Get up!" came out in a jumbled voice.
Less than one-fifth of the brooms obeyed. It was clear that Ryan was four of the fives, and his broom was just rolling on the ground.
Fortunately, after a dozen repeated shouts, the broom finally jumped into his hand.
Mrs. Hodge then showed them how to mount a broomstick without slipping off it. Ryan watched very carefully, though he knew that Madam Pomfrey was very good at her craft. Even if the bones of the entire arm are gone, they can be regrown in one night. But as a normal person, I definitely don't want to enjoy the advanced medical level of the wizarding world.
After correcting everyone's gestures, it entered the actual operation stage, and after a whistle, everyone floated up and levitated to a place about one meter above the ground. After a few minutes of testing, Ryan realized that he might not be good at broomsticks, and no matter how much he practiced, he was at best a level of riding.
Just as Ryan had just returned to the ground following Madame Hodge's instructions, an exclamation was heard from the side. It turned out that Neville was too nervous, which caused his broom to get out of control and the whole person to rise rapidly. Then he didn't grasp the broom steadily, and as a result, he fell from the sky.
Ryan, based on his memories of the original books, thought Neville would fly up and have an accident before Mrs. Hooch blew the whistle. So be prepared to act ahead of time to avoid things from happening. But until Mrs. Hodge blew the whistle, there was no problem, and Ryan thought that his butterfly wings had fanned the accident away.
After seeing Neville soar, Ryan subconsciously pulled his wand out of his pocket. Later, when he fell, he recited the levitation charm to him.
It's a pity that Ryan's spell is self-taught, and it doesn't work very well. Neville paused in the air for less than a second, then slammed into the grass.
Mrs. Hooch nervously ran up to check on Neville.
"I broke my wrist and it was probably a bit of a cracked bone. Everyone heard her whisper. It seems that the levitation spell still has some effect, which is much better than the original fracture. However, it is likely that the system did not respond because the change was not large, but at least it helped one person, and Ryan felt quite happy.
All right, kid - it's all right, you get up. Mrs. Hodge said as she lifted Neville up.
She turned to the rest of the class and warned them to put the broom back in its place. After that, he took Neville to the school hospital.
