14. Temptation
When I came out of the ward, I happened to bump into Aunt Chen, who came back with a bunch of fruits. When she saw Wu Jue, she looked very enthusiastic, with a smile on her face, but maybe because she was afraid of making noise to Lin Jiahe in the ward, her voice was very low: "Miss Lin, are you leaving?" β
Wu Jue nodded and smiled at her: "Well, there are still some things." Somehow, she has an indescribable sympathy for the people who work under Lin Jiahe, maybe she really subconsciously imagines him as a heinous demon.
Aunt Chen seemed to be a little disappointed, lowered her eyes, and seemed to say to herself: "Mr. Lin rarely allowed a friend to visit him, why did he leave?" β
Wu Jue was a little stunned, although Lin Jiahe had told her not to tell others about his illness just now, she could imagine Lin Jiahe's indifference and detachment, but she even had to refuse a friend's visit, she really didn't dare to imagine what kind of Cheng DΓΉ he had come, or that he had no friends at all.
So, what about Cheng Yuzheng?
After pondering for a while, he remembered his situation, so he could only smile and explain to Aunt Chen: "Actually, I didn't come to see Mr. Lin here, but I just happened to come to the hospital for a physical examination and bumped into him getting sick." β
"Oh." Aunt Chen nodded with some sudden realization, but in this suddenness, there seemed to be a little doubt.
Wu Jue didn't have the heart to say too much, besides, Lin Jiahe was only separated from them by one door, it was hard to guarantee that he wouldn't hear this conversation, and she always understood this truth if she said too much.
Politely saying goodbye to Aunt Chen, Wu Jue left the hospital and no longer thought about what would happen to the people in the ward.
A good weekend rest. When I got back to work, I was refreshed.
Wu Jue naturally didn't gossip about Lin Jiahe's illness and hospitalization to a colleague, and he didn't even go around the bush to ask Cheng Yuzheng. In fact, she suspected that he might or may not have been discharged from the hospital.
Whatever!
When it was almost noon, she suddenly received a call from Cheng Yuzheng, only to realize that the other person was no longer in the office for a long time, and he was on the phone with the words that made Wu Jue confused: "Where did you buy that porridge yesterday?" What's the name of the store, why didn't I see it? β
"What?" She was a little baffled.
"It's the yam porridge you bought for Mr. Lin when you saw him yesterday."
Wu Jue thought about it and realized what was going on, but he was a little puzzled, so he asked him, "Are you in the hospital?" β
"Hmm." He replied in a casual manner, and his tone was a little ridiculous, "Just running errands to buy porridge for the big boss." β
"Oh." She nodded, forgetting that she was talking on the phone, and he wouldn't see her response, and remembered the porridge, so she told him the location of the store.
In the afternoon, Cheng Yuzheng did not come to the office, Wu Jue guessed that he was roughly in the hospital, and it is unknown whether he was offering hospitality. Anyway, the boss is not there, and he is at ease. Although at present, Cheng Yuzheng has nothing to do with the word strict.
Time flies neither fast nor slow, work is not done well or badly, in short, this day seems to have passed so uneventfully.
When I got off work, because I still had some things at hand to finish, I worked extra shifts as usual. Compared with going home, sometimes, Wu Jue actually enjoys the feeling of working overtime, at least there is something to do, and there is a lot less time to think about it, and he will not feel how lonely and lonely he is.
By the time the work was done, the people in the office were almost gone. When he was packing up and preparing to leave, Cheng Yuzheng came back in a hurry, saying that he was taking something, and asked her to wait for him for a while, so that he could give her a ride by the way.
Wu Jue didn't care about saving a few yuan in fares, not to mention getting too close to his boss of the opposite sex would inevitably cause gossip. It's really not annoying to have a positive personality in the process, and she just has no reason to refuse his kindness.
After getting into Cheng Yuzheng's car, I found that he had been glancing at her with some strange expressions, and the appearance of wanting to speak made her really uncomfortable, so she asked him, "What's the matter, can you say it?" β
These days, Wu Jue and he are also familiar with each other, and occasionally joke and talk, no longer as polite and detached as at the beginning.
"I've been wondering what the hell is going on between you and Lin Jiahe?" He deliberately made a confused look, but it seemed that he was snooping on other people's secrets, which was a little unnatural.
Wu Jue felt that his question was really a bit ridiculous, and couldn't help laughing, and asked him, "What do you think?" β
"He is a very arrogant person, and he usually doesn't let people see his weakness, but when he is sick, he will let you visit him, and he will never forget the porridge you bought for him."
"Didn't you go to see him too?"
Cheng Yuzheng seemed to be stunned for a moment and shrugged: "I won't tell you, I am very good friends with him." β
"Nepotism." Wu Jue was just joking, but unexpectedly, his tone was still a little unconsciously ridiculed.
Cheng Yuzheng was not annoyed, and sneered indifferently: "If it weren't for the fact that I was a friend, I wouldn't have come to Lin Zheng to help him." He paused, and then said, "But you and him, what is going on?" β
"Since we're friends, you can just ask him." Wu Jue looked out the window, at this time, the afterglow of the setting sun gradually disappeared into the night that came up from all sides, and the mood that was good a moment ago became a little depressed.
"He didn't say anything."
"That's nothing." She replied lazily, and after half a ring, she didn't wait for a response, turned her head and glanced at it, and saw that Cheng Yuzheng still looked thoughtful, so she had to say again, "I happened to meet Mr. Lin during the hospital examination, and I happened to know that there was a good porridge shop near the hospital, and seeing that he didn't want to eat the white porridge brought by the nanny, he volunteered to buy a yam porridge and befriended his boss." β
"Is that so?" Cheng Yuzheng still seemed to be a little skeptical, "But what about the promotion?" I didn't ask, but I always had doubts in my mind. β
Wu Jue suddenly smiled: "Then what do you think?" What do you think I have with Mr. Lin what improper relationship between men and women? And then he was promoted to me because of that relationship? β
"Nope." Cheng Yuzheng shook his head and smiled, "Lin Jiahe is not this kind of person, and it has always been his principle to distinguish between public and private." I just don't understand why he would put so much emphasis on a staff member who has only been on the job for a year. β
"Maybe he's looking for my resume and my ability to work." Wu Jue paused, and gently raised the corners of his mouth, "It's not too modest to say, for the work I am engaged in, I think my ability is not bad." β
"Of course." Cheng Yuzheng shrugged his shoulders very Westernly, "The accountant of a top firm, Jin Lin Zheng has a zero error rate for a year, which may not only be described as not bad." β
Wu Jue was noncommittal about this, and just turned his head slightly to look out the window.
"It only shows that every minute of your work is 100 percent concentrated, or 100 percent cautious." He paused, "I wonder if you're doing your job with all your heart, or are you being too careful?" β
He said it lightly, as if it was just a momentary inadvertent.
"Caution is indeed an essential quality for a finance worker." Wu Jue replied to him lightly.
"Really?" Cheng Yu is looking ahead, "But I think being careful and cautious is a necessary quality for financial workers." β
After a pause, he suddenly raised his mouth and smiled again: "I seem to be chewing words, in fact, it's about the same, right?" β
Wu Jue hummed in a low voice, as if perfunctory, but also as if he really agreed.
There was silence in the car for a long time before Cheng Yuzheng spoke again: "Anyway, Lin Jiahe is a very clear person who distinguishes between public and private, Wu Jue, I think you are also the kind of person who knows what you are doing." β
Is it advice?
Wu Jue smiled lowly and didn't make a sound.
