Chapter 69: The Arrow of Assassination

Cleohigan is known as the "Silver King" because of his ability to transfer silver from ore veins into any container. At first, he discovered his magic with great generosity, and the poor people around the Temple of Dionysus benefited from his magic, and Clio was then the prince of the Land of Wine Valley, and was loved by the people and succeeded to the throne. It didn't take long for the cost of magic to be revealed—the silver mines around the Temple of Dionysus were rapidly depleted, the mine owners and countless miners they depended on were unemployed, and the severance money given to them by Clio was struggling to make ends meet, and these people became thieves, pirates, and outcasts who had fled to the Land of the Mountains.

In order to secure his rule, the king no longer used magic, but his hair began to turn white, which was said to be the result of long-lost magic, and silver followed his hair out of his skin, seeped into his bone marrow, and became a part of his body, and even his sons were all silver-haired and black-eyed, and the Hagen family became a veritable silver family.

Accustomed to the wealth that came at his fingertips, Cleo certainly did not give up his magic lightly, and he began to travel around the world, and everywhere he went, a barracks could be built in the palace of the Temple of Dionysus, which was why his mother Chloe never invited him to the Land of Midsummer.

After the battle on the reef, Brant didn't mention the Mountain Dwarves again, but Vanessa guessed that maybe the Silver King was their ultimate goal, and by taking a second son hostage, Cleo might go to the border a few times less, leaving some Mithril for the poor dwarf.

It has to be said that having such a king and neighbors is a real headache. Now, the Silver King is setting his sights on the Land of Midsummer, and once he lands on Queen's Point, the silver mines and silversmithing industry in Midsummer will be paralyzed, the balance of the economy will be upset, and the end result will be a new batch of pirates and mobs, causing more disasters.

Can't let him get his way, so Vanessa decides to settle the trouble once and for all.

The guard of honor in front of him was a hundred men, made up of the king's guards, knights, magicians, and retainers, who formed an impermeable wall that encircled Clio and the future queen in the center.

This is the outermost alley of the Temple of Dionysus, where Paladin is said to have hidden. Vanessa insisted on coming in person, and the Silver King had no choice but to accompany her.

Originally, the princess wanted to say that Paladin lived in the forest, but a rain last night disrupted her plans, and the soil in the forest was so soft that it would expose Reina's footprints.

Doors, one by one, were knocked open. Cleo's face began to look bored.

Reina, where are you? Vanessa quietly drank half of the antidote, deliberately leaving the slightly sweet liquid in her mouth, and she could distinguish the ingredients of nightshade root and poisonous weed.

The last door.

The guards pushed open the heavy door, and Prince Creon stood inside the door, looking at them in amazement.

The next few seconds grew like centuries.

The prince leaned his back against the earthen wall, took up his longbow, and drew an arrow from his quiver, with a black shaft and a white feather tail. The arrow caught the bowstring of the deer's tendons, and the prince bent the heavy and smooth yew wood with the force of his arms.

Although wild boars have fangs and black bears have claws, they are not half as deadly as white goose feathers.

Everyone's eyes widened and they didn't have time to react.

Whoosh - the air was sliced, and the feathered arrows pierced through the guard's colourful hats, through the gap between the knight's hand and the hilt of his sword, through the magician's fingers flaring out above his head, through the silver king's ornate saddle – to Cleo's lower abdomen!

It wasn't until Cleo fell from his horse that the people around him understood what had happened, "The king has been struck!" The eunuchs let out a deafening scream.

"Catch him!" Vanessa commanded the Kingsguard, "Capture this Assassin!" She didn't call the prince by his first name, but she didn't have any scruples about doing things for the Kingsguard.

Creon seemed stunned by his actions, and he stood still, neither fleeing nor justifying, but allowed himself to be surrounded by countless iron swords that flashed with cold light, and finally was hit in the back of the head by the handle of the sword, and he fainted.

No one noticed that on the oak table beside the prince, a string of blood-red gemstone necklaces was quietly disappearing
