Chapter 390: Conflict
When Ryan and Hermione returned to the common room, they saw Ron flipping through a parchment letter. And Harry was talking to him.
"Who gave you the letter?" asked Ryan, curious.
"Percy, he asked me and Harry to settle down a little bit lately. Try to be as transparent as possible in front of Umbridge. Because he found that Fudge's ideas were becoming more and more radical now, and he was worried that the two of us would be involved in this kind of turmoil and the situation would not be able to clean up. Heh, he ran to be a hero himself and was now kicked out of the office, and now he risked his men to patrol a place full of dark wizards and evil creatures, but let his brother hide far away. At this point, Ron made a smack of disapproval.
"Ron, your brother is also good for you. Hermione said. "At least he thinks you're still students and you should enjoy your campus life. And I think at least in this kind of thing we can make sure that they don't mess up, so that they don't have to worry about us, which is a big help to them. β
"He's always right. It's been that way since I was a child. Ron shook his head helplessly. "I'll admit he has a point, but I don't think that means I can't do anything about it. β
"Well, maybe you can do a good job. But you'd better come up with a complete plan than just talk about it. Ryan poured cold water on his head at the right time.
"I'm sure I'll figure it out. With that, Ron and Harry began to bow their heads and write his homework, Professor Snape's paper was not finished yet. No matter what their ambitions were, they wouldn't dare not finish the Potions professor's homework.
Early the next morning, the owl delivered a new issue of the Daily Prophet. The front page featured a large photo of Dolores Umbridge on the front page. She smiled and winked at them, with the headline on it: Ministry of Magic Seeks Educational Reform Dolores Umbridge Appointed First High Inquisitor.
"Fudge looks ugly. Ryan glanced at the contents of the newspaper and said, "When he saw the benefits, he desperately stretched out his mouth and arched in the trough, and even some shameless fellows even stuck their front hooves in." β
"What are you talking about?" asked Harry, somewhat confused.
"In an impromptu operation last night, the Ministry of Magic passed a new decree that gave it unprecedented levels of control over Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For some time now, the Minister has become increasingly uneasy about the current state of Hogwarts. Teaching in this school has gone off the rails, and even most parents are affected by not knowing what is the right way to teach. Hermione picked up the newspaper and read it aloud, attracting a lot of people to read it.
In recent weeks, it has not been the first time that Minister Cornelius Fudge has adopted a new decree to improve the school of magic. Not long ago, on August 30, Education Order No. 22 was passed, ensuring that if the current headmaster was unable to provide a candidate for a particular teaching position, the Ministry of Magic would recommend a suitable candidate.
"Dumbledore couldn't find anyone, so the Minister assigned Umbridge, and needless to say, she was an instant successβ" "What did she do right away?" Harry asked, a little surprised. "Wait, it's not over yet. Hermione said with a straight face.
βan immediate success, a breakthrough in Defence Against the Dark Arts class, and a timely on-the-spot feedback to the Minister on the real state of Hogwarts. This is an exciting new move in the Minister's plan to try to control the so-called decline in education at Hogwarts. The Ombudsman will have the authority to vet her fellow faculty members to ensure that they all meet the standards. Professor Umbridge has been awarded this position in addition to her faculty membership, and we are pleased to report that she has embraced it. β
"But why didn't anyone ask us and the parents for their opinions?" said a voice from the people around them. "My father wrote yesterday that he was worried that I might not pass the final exam. β
"I think we and the parents may have been represented. Ryan took another newspaper and read, "These new measures from the Ministry of Magic have received enthusiastic support from the parents of Hogwarts students. Mr. Lucius Malfoy, now forty-one, said last night at his Wiltshire mansion that many of us who care about the vital interests of our children have been concerned about Dumbledore's strange decisions in recent years, and it is reassuring to know that the Ministry of Magic is keeping a close eye on the situation. β
There were disapproving boos around, especially after everyone found out that the so-called parents were all the heads of those pure-blood noble families. It's a pity that they can't do much as students, and they disperse after venting their emotions. But when I left, almost everyone was discussing what the newspaper content would bring to the school.
Meanwhile, in the Headmaster's office, Fudge is announcing Umbridge's appointment to Dumbledore.
"I won't take it. Dumbledore's blue eyes flickered with fire. "Cornelius, I think you should do something practical, like get those ten escaped Death Eaters back, instead ofβ"
"You have to accept it, it's the decision of the Ministry of Magic. Fudge said toughly, "The senior investigator is Dolores??" Umbridge, Hogwarts is not your school alone!I've spoken to all the school directors before, and the other school directors have accepted this decision, so you have to accept it!Otherwise we'll need to consider changing the headmaster!"
"Well, she can take this position, but she can't have any influence on the teaching in the school, or I'll kick her out without saying a word!" Dumbledore said with suppressed anger. "But I think you-"
Before he could finish speaking, Fudge disappeared from the fireplace.
At Hogwarts, like any other school in the region, the Board of Trustees is the body that holds the power of the school, and the Headmaster is just an employee. As a white wizard with a bottom line, in the case that Fudge is not a dark wizard, Dumbledore must also act according to the rules, and cannot rely on his own strength to directly flip the table. The reason why Fudge was able to go against the grain before also has something to do with this. This is what a gentleman can deceive.
"Let's hope Fudge doesn't get an inch, we can't afford the internal friction when Voldemort has returned. Headmaster Dumbledore, standing by the window, muttered as he looked at the students on the playground.
In the days that followed, things went from bad to worse. Umbridge begins to investigate each professor in an attempt to find a breakthrough that will make her stand on her feet, but it seems that her plan is not going well. The professors don't take such garbage seriously.
"You didn't take this class before, did you?" said Professor Graplan, who had taken Hagrid's Magical Creatures class.
"That's right, I'm glad you found that. Professor Grapeland said, putting his hands behind his back and tiptoeing back and forth, "I'm a substitute teacher, temporarily replacing Professor Hagrid." So I really can't comment on what you asked me about other professors, so please don't ask me this question again and again. Professor Graplan's words choked Umbridge speechless for a long time.
"Well, you can ask whatever you want, and by the way, you can also tell me the answer you want me to answer, lest I answer something that is not in your liking. Looking at Umbridge's pig-liver-like face, Professor Grapeland spread his hands helplessly.
The students burst out laughing, and no one had noticed the professor have such a sense of humor when she was taking Hagrid's place in class.
"You...... You ...... How dare you...... So ......"
"You are not satisfied with every word I answer, and I ask you to tell me what you are satisfied with, but you refuse to say it. I had only been to France for a few months, so how could the requirements of the school change in such a short period of time? β
The students laughed even harder, even some of the Slytherin pure-blood wizards.
