The 175-meter water storage line of the Three Gorges Project will submerge a land area of 632 square kilometers, involving 20 counties (cities) in Xiaobei Province and Dongchuan City, involving 2 cities, 11 county seats, and 116 market towns, 1,599 industrial and mining enterprises affected by inundation or inundation, and a total of 24,500 hectares of cultivated land below the inundation line of the reservoir. During his tenure as vice premier of the State Council and vice chairman of the Three Gorges Project Construction Committee, Wu Jiaan attached great importance to the resettlement work, stressing that it is necessary to do a good job in the relocation and resettlement of the migrants, correctly grasp the mentality of the migrants, and do a good job in the ideological and political work of the migrants in a targeted manner, so as to ensure the smooth progress of the construction of the Three Gorges Project and to ensure social stability and long-term peace and stability in the Three Gorges reservoir area and the resettlement areas.
