Chapter 745: The Gathering of Storms
About three kilometres from the centre of Kathmandu lies the Swayamburat Temple, one of the oldest Buddhist monuments in Asia, built in the 5th century AD. Since its inception, the mountain road in front of the gate has been trampled by Buddhists who come one after another every year, and it is covered with stone marks everywhere.
Swayambulat means "self-light" in Nepali. Because it is home to hundreds of wild monkeys that are regularly fed by monks, it is also known as the "Monkey Temple".
The base of the tower is a white hemisphere of the covered bowl, and the tower is 10 meters high. The circle on the first floor of the pedestal symbolizes "earth"; The second layer is square, symbolizing "qi"; The third layer is a triangle, which symbolizes "water"; The fourth layer is umbrella-shaped, symbolizing "fire"; The spiral of the fifth layer symbolizes "life". The body of the tower is a square spire, golden and brilliant. The four sides of the tower are painted with a pair of Nepalese eyes.
The tower cone is a thirteen-layer gilded wheel ring, representing thirteen levels and knowledge, which is the path to Nirvana, and a huge gem is embedded in the spire of the canopy at the top of the tower, representing Nirvana. Standing in Suwayambhu, looking at the panoramic view of Kathmandu is a treat. When the weather is nice, you can see the Himalayas from the tower, and at sunset, there is another glorious scene.
And after years of construction by the Nepalese government, the Buddha in the Swayambulat temple is solemn, the stele is towering, and the rich sandalwood is diffused in it, such as weaving visitors walking between the smoke and clouds, it is really as if it is a holy realm as wonderful.
But there is one place in the Swayambulat Monastery that is blocked by numerous Tallinns and ordered to be closed to tourists.
But if you look inward from a distance across Tallinn, you can see that the grass inside Tallinn is full of fragrant grass, and there are countless unknown flowers blooming, but on this fresh grassland, there is no gorgeous building like the pagoda outside, but simply built a thatched hermitage, but although this thatched hermitage is simple, it seems to have a strong spirit, across the world, and it does not fall.
And at this moment, outside the thatched hermitage, there was a young monk in white clothes like snow. This monk looks ordinary, but his eyes are clear and spiritual, and there seems to be electric flashes in them, and there is compassion for the heavens and people. At this time, he folded his hands and stared at a few wild flowers in front of him in a daze, as if he was thinking about the true meaning of the Buddhist scriptures when the monk smiled at the flowers.
"Gasha, come in!" Just when the young monk looked demented, and a smile was about to bloom at the corner of his mouth, a call suddenly came from inside the hermitage, and the voice was as small as silk, almost inaudible.
The monk did not show the slightest sense of impatience with the person who disturbed his comprehension of Zen machine, and slowly bowed to the few wild flowers swaying in the mountain breeze on the ground, then got up and walked towards the hermitage.
The interior of the thatched hermitage is as simple as the appearance, there is only a dim oil lamp in the house, although the light is faint, but it makes people feel a sense of tranquility, and around it is a dense Buddhist scripture scroll, in addition to the yellow lamp and blue scroll, the only remaining furnishings in the house are two futons laid on the ground.
And on one of the futons, an old monk was also sitting. This old monk, like the Buddha monk, wears a spotless white robe, but the white robe is very loose on the thin monk on the ground, and the mountain wind blows through the thatch, so that the white robe sways with the wind, as if his whole person may be blown away by the wind at any time.
The old monk's eyebrows and beards were white, and his age was unknown, and his face was densely covered with wounds, and even a few wounds were still dripping with blood, as if they had just appeared on him not long ago. This hideous face, coupled with an extremely thin body, if ordinary people see it, they are afraid that they will think that this old monk is a zombie.
But in fact, he was not a zombie, and when he heard the footsteps and walked in front of him, the old monk slowly opened his closed eyes, and his eyes were like those of the Buddha monk, as if they contained countless electric light, and his eyes were extremely firm.
After slowly glancing at the monk, a smile slowly appeared on the corner of the old monk's mouth. The smile is very compassionate, and with the appearance of this smile, it seems that the light in the hermitage is much brighter, so that people can't help but want to pay homage, and this gentle smile with his terrifying cheeks will not have the slightest sense of disobedience, but make people feel that it should be so.
When he saw the white robe worn by the old monk, the originally slightly smiling face of the monk became solidified, and his expression was extremely solemn, and then he slowly knelt down on the other futon, staring at the old monk, silent, but the corners of his eyes were a little red.
"You just watched the flowers bloom and fall outside the house, have you ever understood the feeling when Venerable Ka Ye smiled at the flowers?" After a moment of silence, the old monk spoke slowly, his voice was soft, without the slightest wave, just like an ordinary teacher instructing the younger generation in their homework.
The throat of the monk shook for a moment, his face was full of sadness, and he said softly: "The Dharma of the World-Honored One, how can it be obtained so easily, the disciple has been thinking for a long time, although he has felt it in his heart, but he has not yet found the true meaning of it. ”
"There are many good materials in the world, some people are born to know it, and some people are still confused until death! If you get it, you will get it, and there is no need to break the vows of lying and fool me. I was born stupid, and although I have worked hard for half my life, I have gained nothing after all, and these are the fate of the World-Honored One......"
"Master, the injuries on your body can be recovered as long as you take a little rest, and there will be no accidents, all the senior brothers outside the temple will go to collect medicinal materials, and I will go to get them later, Master, after you drink the potion, you will be able to recover as before!" The monk shook his head slowly, glanced at the outside of the hermitage, and then opened his mouth in a deep voice.
The old monk laughed slightly when he heard this, and then gently raised his hand and put it on the shoulder of the Buddha monk. Under the dim light, the old monk's hands were already extremely thin at this time, and the skin outside the bones was like crumpled paper, without the slightest elasticity and luster.
When the monk saw the appearance of these hands, his face was full of sadness, and he cried silently, and his eyes were suddenly full of sorrow, and two tears slowly fell on the old monk's withered hands along the corners of his eyes.
"Birth, old age, sickness, death, love and separation, resentment and hatred, unwantedness, and the five aggregates are prosperous. The Buddha said that there are eight sufferings in life, but I have tasted all seven of them in addition to the sufferings of life! Even if you die, you can be considered satisfied. The old monk slowly raised his hand, wiped away the tears on the face of the monk, and slowly continued with a silent smile on his face: "Do you know why I called you? ”
"I don't know!" Shakyamunia bowed his head and shook his head, trying his best to calm his voice, but the sadness in his chest could not be erased, but it made his words more sad.
The old monk laughed slightly, and then said: "I am about to pass away, and I call you to come, so I will naturally explain what will happen in the future." ”
"A few senior brothers have already gone to decoct the medicine, Master, your illness will definitely be cured, and there is no reason to say such things!" The monk shook his head, trying to make his face smile more of the past, but the smile he forced out was more ugly than crying.
"Idiot, the master has tasted the hardships of life, what else is there to be nostalgic for!" The old monk smiled slightly, waved his hand, and after coughing slightly, his expression suddenly became extremely solemn, and he looked at the monk and said in a deep voice: "You have to keep in mind what I said next, and you can do it if you want, don't pay attention to my future!" ”
"The snow moves Kunlun, the dragon rises in China, the land of the Buddha's birth, the light is replayed! You go to Lumbini and look for Shuangmu Kazubai, and he will help you do what I left behind. After the old monk slowly finished reciting the sixteen-character verse, his face returned to calm, and he reached out to caress the top of the head of the monk and said slowly: "Under the pretense of the four great things, the mind has no cause for life. If there is no heart in the future, there will be no sin and blessing like illusions......"
The voice of the words gradually faded, and finally it was almost inaudible, and then the thatched nunnery was completely calm, and the old monk's eyes slowly closed, and his body was like a wood carving and stone sculpture, and he no longer moved.
The light of the oil lamp trembled and then slowly extinguished, and the Himalayan mountains behind the hermitage suddenly began to burst into bursts of rumbling sounds, and countless snow blocks fell downward, and the sound was unparalleled for a while.
When the monks in the temple heard the sound of the avalanche, their faces changed dramatically, and regardless of the reaction of the tourists, they hurried towards the hermitage. They understood that the avalanche represented the death of the old monk.
After a long time, the monk slowly stretched out his hand, and his trembling fingers gently touched the hideous wound on the old monk's face, and his movements were extremely gentle, as if he was afraid that if he was not gentle enough, the deceased monk would feel the piercing pain.
After doing all this, the monk got up slowly, didn't pay attention to everything behind him, and didn't pay attention to the strange eyes of the monks outside the hermitage, and walked quickly towards the outside of Swayambulat Monastery.
Many monks looked at this scene in front of them, their faces showed a look of incomprehension, they really couldn't understand why the monk and disciple of the Buddha who usually respected the master the most could become like this today, and even did not dispose of the remains of the master after his death, so they hurriedly rushed to the outside of the temple, all this is really incomprehensible.
……………………
In Lumbini, the bell chimes in countless temples suddenly sounded without wind, and the Bodhi tree born in Shakyamuni swayed in the wind, and the leaves collided with each other, making a loud sound, although the sound was silent, but it was with inexplicable sadness. And among the many white clouds above the Bodhi tree, there was suddenly a colorful rainbow.
"The bell chime rings, the Bodhi tree shakes, and the rainbow runs through the clouds, which monk in Nepal has passed away?" Looking at the various visions above the canopy, Lin Bai's expression changed suddenly, and he turned his head to look at Chen Bai'an and said in a deep voice.
Chen Bai'an shook his head slowly, but his expression was also solemn, a vision from the sky, what will happen next?!
