Tang Feng didn't expect that on the first day of departure, he encountered a big problem, that is, he almost didn't find a way out.

Admiral Brown Station is located on a small, jutting peninsula off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, which borders the Southern Ocean and is just over eight meters above sea level. However, to enter the real Antarctic Peninsula from this small peninsula, it takes Tang Feng to climb all the way up from this peninsula at an altitude of less than 10 meters to an altitude of more than 1,800 meters in a short fifteen kilometers.

There is no way to do this, although it is possible to walk in a relatively flat area along the coast, but the coastline of the Antarctic Peninsula is so tortuous that if you want to follow the coastline all the time, the distance will at least double that of the distance.

Crucially, it's the warm season, and the glaciers near the coastline are not stable at all, and it's not uncommon to see chunks of glaciers falling off the Antarctic ice cap and plunging into the icy Antarctic Ocean, forming iceberg after iceberg.

Therefore, it is very dangerous to go from near the coastline in the warm season, and you may be able to make it all the way to catch the glaciers in this area falling off and then you will be floating in the Southern Ocean.

Therefore, walking on the Antarctic continent in the warm season, it is better to enter the ice field area honestly, at least the glacier in the ice field area will not fall into the Southern Ocean.

It is precisely for this reason that after coming out of the scientific research station, Tang Feng had to start climbing. Don't look at the low altitude of that small peninsula. That's because the ice caps on that small peninsula aren't that thick. However, the thickness of the ice cap in the inland of the Antarctic Peninsula is different, and in the inland of the Antarctic Peninsula, at least it is covered with an ice cap more than a kilometer thick.

Moreover, the Antarctic Peninsula itself is an extension of the South American continent, and has a geological condition very similar to that of the Andes Mountains in South America, containing the remains of volcanic arc erosion and many sedimentary rocks. So, the terrain of the Antarctic Peninsula is actually very rugged. If it weren't for the ice caps, the roads here would not have been walkable at all.

It is absolutely impossible to climb the ice cap of the Antarctic Peninsula from the small peninsula where the research station is located, and even if the Prino full-track snowmobile has a gradient of more than 60 degrees, it is a fool's dream to climb those glacier-covered mountains.

Therefore, if you want to enter the interior of Antarctica, you have to follow the glacial channel. These glacial channels can be found everywhere along the coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, and some huge ice masses that have broken away from the glaciers sometimes slide down these slippery glacier channels into the Southern Ocean. As a result, these glacial channels are not only very flat, but also very smooth.

However, it is not difficult to climb from an altitude of more than 10 meters to an altitude of more than 1,800 meters along the glacier river in a distance of 15 to 20 kilometers.

About three kilometres south of the small peninsula is a glacial channel that leads directly to the inland plateau, and a wide glacial channel leads east to the inland ice fields of the Antarctic Peninsula.

Tang Feng drove a snowmobile. It took a full hour just to walk from the research station to the mouth of the glacier. It's not that the speed of the snowmobile is not good. But this section of the road along the coastline is too difficult to walk, and from time to time huge ice blocks will fall off the coastline of Anver Island, six or seven kilometers away, and the loud noise made by falling into the water can be heard very clearly by Tang Feng here.

The glacier channel is about a kilometre wide, which means that at least a kilometre of ice has ever fallen in the channel. Tang's snowmobile looks as small in this river as if it were a children's toy car made of plastic on an eight-lane road.

Although the slope of this glacier is not small, the bottom of the river is relatively flat, after all, I don't know how many pieces of ice weighing tens of thousands of tons have fallen into the Arctic Ocean from this river, and those heavy ice blocks are like the hardest steel files, which have already filed the bottom of the entire river.

The 2.0-liter gasoline engine of the snowmobile roared and began to run at speeds of more than 15 kilometers per hour in this flat glacial river with a 600-kilogram snowmobile and 600 kilograms of provisions.

Equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol engine, the Prino full-tracked snowmobile can reach speeds of up to 29.5 km/h on flat ground. But on this kind of flat river, because of the slope, even if Tang Feng stepped on the accelerator to the bottom, the fastest speed of this car is this.

In fact, the car was modified, and the original Prino full-tracked snowmobile should have a trailer attached to the back, and after the trailer was added, the snowmobile could pull fifteen passengers at a time. On both sides of the river are snow-capped mountains that are thousands of meters high and nearly 2,000 meters high, and the top of the mountain is filled with white snow mist, which is the scene formed by the floating snow on the mountain being blown up by strong winds, and the white clouds in the sky are extremely spectacular.

The hard-working snowmobile is like a tireless and cold old cow, pulling Tang Feng and Sanxiao, crawling slowly in the empty and dead glacial river, and it took a full hour and a half for Tang Feng to finally walk out of this more than ten kilometers long glacial river.
