Chapter 334: The Himalayas

The road Tang Feng took was actually one of the roads in the Karakoram Corridor, and the source of Kashmir sapphire was in the mountains on both sides of the Karakoram Corridor.

From Muzaffarabad along the Neelum Path, apart from the mountains to the Neelum River, the mountains here are not like those in the Hengduan Mountains, which are the highest and most majestic Himalayas in the world.

Although the Karakoram Corridor is located at the intersection of the Karakoram and Himalayas, it is still a mountainous area.

Originating from the glaciers of the Karakoram Mountains and the Himalayas, the Neelam River is a river that winds through the mountains and valleys, and sometimes less than two kilometers away, you can see a small river that flows from between the nearby mountains into the Neelum River, contributing to the rapid flow of the Neelum River.

The valley through which the Neelum River passes, flanked by mountains more than three or four thousand meters high, and less than forty kilometers north of the upper reaches of the Neelum River is the ninth highest peak in the world, Nanga Parbat. And 400 kilometers northeast of the world's ninth peak, which is known as the world's fourth most difficult to climb, is the world's second highest peak, which is the fifth most difficult mountain in the world to climb.

Of the world's 14 peaks over 8,000 meters above sea level, five are in the upper reaches of Neelem, and there are countless peaks over 7,000 meters here.

The Neelum Path, which follows the Neelum River, also runs through the mountains, and sometimes when you look up, you can only see a small patch of blue sky overhead, with blue-gray mountains on both sides, and the real glimmer of heaven is nothing more than that.

Tang Feng has never walked such a road. Even Hansen, who has been in Afghanistan for several years, has never taken such a path. In contrast, the Portsville path that Tang used to drive in the Australian outback is like paradise.

Driving on this kind of road is extremely testing the driver's driving skills, although each of them has very good driving skills. However, driving on this kind of road requires 100% attention at all times.

It's very tiring to drive, but fortunately there are often small plains in the middle of the mountains, which are actually dams formed by the alluvium of the Neelum River over tens of millions of years. These small dam areas, which are only one or two square kilometers in size, are now inhabited, and these settlements have become the best resting places for drivers to relax.

Tang Feng's destination this time is a small town called "Kohl" located deep in the Himalayas, which is also the end of the Neelum path and an area where three rivers converge. Three rivers from different glaciers come together here to form the Nielum River, which stretches for hundreds of kilometres.

From Muzaffarabad to Kohl. It is almost 300 kilometers away, and if you are on the highway in the plains, with the performance of the Mercedes-Benz GL65, this 300 kilometers can be reached in less than two hours. But in this valley surrounded by mountains, these 300 kilometers almost allowed two GL65s with excellent performance to run for a whole day!

Tang Feng set out early in the morning in Muzaffarabad, but by the time they arrived at Kohl, it was already dark because it was really in the valley. The surrounding area is surrounded by peaks several kilometers high, so the dark weather of Cole comes very early. The sun was already blocked by the mountains as early as about two o'clock in the afternoon.

Cole's altitude is already close to four thousand meters above sea level. It is the last large human settlement to enter the Himalayan glacial region. Cole is a town built on the hill, and when it is said to be a town, it is actually a larger village. There are about a thousand houses in the town, scattered on the slopes of the north bank of the Neelum River, about two or three kilometers long.

The houses here are not at all different from the villages in China. In China, even if it is a village in the mountains. The houses are quite close to each other, that is, huddles, and the layout of the village is quite orderly. But here, although some of the houses are quite close to each other, the houses of the whole town are as if Hercules has sprinkled a handful of sand. There is no order at all.

Tang Feng was even thinking that if the building pattern here was seen by the domestic housing authority or urban management, he would have to declare that these houses were illegal buildings!

Although Cole's architectural plan is disorganized, there are still things that should be here, gas stations, hotels, restaurants, everything, and even Tang Feng saw a big house on the side of the road that obviously didn't look like a good place, and Tang Feng was very surprised that there were such facilities in such a place

Although Kohl is located less than three kilometers north of the India-Pakistan ceasefire line, it is a popular place for tourists, after all, it is close to the world's ninth highest peak, Nanga Parbat, and many tourists choose to stop here and then follow a tributary of the Neelum River and further north to see the charm of the world's ninth highest peak up close.

Although most of them are unable to climb Nanga Parbat, the world's ninth highest peak attracts a large number of tourists with its unique charm.

Of course, if you were to follow the main stream of the Neelum River eastward, there would still be a few small human settlements along the way, not much larger than the ones Tang encountered on his road trip along the Elkm road last year.

Tang Feng's goal this time was naturally not to continue eastward, but to stay overnight in Cole, and then follow a tributary of the Neelum River to the north and enter the mountains at an altitude of 4,500 meters. According to Tang's information, there is a large amount of alkaline basalt in that area, and most importantly, it is close to the famous Kashmir sapphire mine.

Tang Feng naturally wouldn't be stupid enough to go to that old mine to survey now, after all, it has a history of nearly one hundred and fifty years, and if there were still Kashmir sapphires, they would have been dug up a long time ago.

Tang Feng is looking for an area with the same geological conditions as that mine, and then uses the star core to investigate, once a new sapphire vein can be discovered, then the rest of the work is done by the star core.

Whether it is here or Sri Lanka in the south, or Thailand and Myanmar closer to China, there is no range of 5,000 kilometers beyond the maximum distance of the star core vein carrying function, as long as a suitable deposit is found, Tang Feng can transport these treasures back with the star core one by one, and then mine them calmly (to be continued......
