Chapter 58: Professor Snape is a good talker
Just as Gawain had predicted, on Sunday morning, the owl brought him the latest Daily Prophet. On the front page was the news of Miranda Goshak's release of the revised version of the Standard Spell, which took up nearly a quarter of the picture of Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic.
As for Gawain?
Thank you, journalists.
They actually got the name half right.
- At least Goldy White is very open-minded.
"How can they do this!"
Hermione grabbed the newspaper and wanted to tear it off.
"At least half a glass of water, isn't it? Besides, I don't have to please everybody. ”
Gawain crossed a line again in his notebook.
"Tom Marvolo Riddle..."
When he mentioned the name Tom Riddle to Ms. Butterworth yesterday, she shuddered, as if she had heard a very vicious expletive. But at Gawain's insistence, she still reluctantly gave a middle name, Marvolo.
"Enough, kid, enough.
I've said enough!"
She flicked her sleeves and walked briskly out of the bookstore.
Gawain had tried many combinations against many of the names in the Modern History of Magic, but none of them corresponded to the name.
Or, more precisely.
He did correspond to a name.
But the name was so dangerous that Gawain had to be very sure.
As Gawain tried to name an Auror called Theseus Scamander, Neville beckoned from afar and walked over.
"Gawain, do you have time today? I mean, I've looked for all those places, and I want to go with you to see them. ”
Neville whispered into Gawain's ear.
Gawain had lent Neville a copy of the map of the living spots, and asked him for help in choosing a few places that would be suitable for the event.
It's not that Gawain doesn't want to borrow an existing classroom, but when he asks Professor McGonagall, she regrets that the application for a classroom is now open until next month, and that it will be given to 5th and 7th graders unconditionally.
"O.W.Ls and N.E.T.Ws students always have to be given some preferential treatment, Mr. White, but they are struggling for the future. Maybe you could consider borrowing a section of the hallway? Mr. Filch will give you advice. ”
Professor McGonagall said.
"Of course, let's go now. ”
Gawain grudgingly closed his notebook, slipped it into his pocket, and followed Neville out of the auditorium.
They went up to the fifth floor first, and behind a large mirror, there was a hidden passageway.
"It's secluded and no one bothers us. There were some mats in the Charms classroom downstairs, and I asked Professor Flitwick if he was willing to lend them to us when the other clubs weren't using them. ”
Neville stuttered a little, but tried to speak as clearly as he could.
This passage is supposed to lead to the outside of the school, and after a long flat hallway, there is a rather steep downward passage. It seems that due to disrepair, the roof of the passage looks very dilapidated, as if it will fall off when a gust of wind blows.
Fortunately, the walls of the corridor are made of red brick and lit by torches, but the disadvantages are just as obvious.
It is not spacious, only one or twelve groups of people can be accommodated at this end, and the narrow corridor is very inconvenient for explanations and demonstrations.
"Let's go to the next one. ”
Gawain shook his head regretfully.
While it would be a good place to make, he was worried that the ceiling would suddenly collapse.
"But maybe you can practice duels here?"
He quietly wrote it down.
The second place Neville chose was behind the hunchback statue of the one-eyed old woman.
"This leads to Hogsmeade, you know, of course. I tried to walk through it once and found that it was the warehouse of the Duke of Honey's shop.
Their boss is willing to lend us a vacant lot of land in our warehouse from time to time, but he wants to... We were able to buy some candy when we went, and we had to promote new products among the students as well. ”
He slurred explanations.
Hogwarts students below the age of third were not allowed to go to Hogsmeade Village, but he really didn't want to live up to Gawain's expectations, and this was the first time he was really responsible for doing something.
"Thank you, Neville. ”
Gawain said honestly that he didn't expect Neville to be willing to do that. When talking to the boss of Duke Honey, he was probably sweating too.
But they still have to go to the next place.
Because it's so good here.
The venue chosen by the club had to be reported to Professor McGonagall, which meant that the elder Filch had to come and check it out. Not only did this mean that their early trip to Hogsmeade was discovered, but it also meant that the road would be closely monitored.
Who can refuse Duke Honey?
As for the third place Neville chose, it was actually the most ideal one.
It's located on the north side of the dungeon, and it used to be used as a torture chamber or something, with a very large open space. Stealthy and safe, it could easily accommodate up to thirty people, and many of the props could be obtained from a nearby Potions classroom.
Gawain took a fancy to this place almost at a glance.
"But, Gawain, you know it's not realistic!"
Neville shook his head desperately.
The only reason he wasn't optimistic about this place was...
It is very close to the Slytherin common room, and Professor Snape's permission is required to use it.
But no sane person would have thought that the shadowy man who had always hated Gryffindor like a big bat would agree to lend it to a society started by Gryffindor's freshmen.
In particular, Harry was one of them.
"Hmm... I can think of a way to do this. ”
Gawain touched his chin, thought for a while, and slammed his right hand into his left palm.
Thereupon...
The Great Hall at night.
"Gorgon's Red Stockings!Gawain, how did you manage to convince that scary old bat to lend us the venue, and he even allowed us to use the props in the Potions classroom?!"
Ron's jaw almost fell to the table in fright when he heard Gawain announce that the issue with the venue had been resolved.
But he wasn't alone, even Neville, who had gone with Gawain to see Professor Snape in the afternoon, looked at him with a confused expression.
In Neville's opinion, Gawain had just gone into Snape's office on his own for a while, and when he came out, he had already received a permission slip signed by the professor.
"About this... I think I'm more convincing sometimes. ”
Gawain scratched his ears and said without shame.
All he knew was that "Lily Evans", or "Lily Potter", meant a lot to Professor Snape.
Because when he asked about potions in the afternoon, he "inadvertently" dropped out of the small drawing, which made Professor Snape excited, and barely thought about it, so he agreed to all his requests, and then violently drove him out of the office.
He didn't even have time to explain where the painting came from.
"But how many pages are there in that journal?"
Gawain felt as if he had picked up a treasure.
