The Authority and the Church of the Holy King
The Authority and the Church of the Holy King
This time, let's write something about the setting of the world view, which is also a question that I often think about. Without further ado, let's get started.
1. Time and Space Administration
I think I think I started thinking about this problem after I started reading "Sts", and when I was translating the "Glossary" of the "Naiha" series, I began to have some ideas about the Authority as an organization.
This can be said to be a huge organization, with its own armed forces, including active duty and reserve forces (there are specialized schools and teaching teams trained by magistors), and even people without magical qualifications, as long as they have management skills, can occupy a place in the Authority, which shows that the functions of this organization are very clear. In addition, the scope of the power of the Temporal and Space Authority is also extremely wide, not only do many of the management worlds have their stations or facilities, but even the management of the outer worlds will intervene in the event of dimensional crimes.
However, such a large institution does not serve a particular political system, and the Authority itself has almost no form of "diplomatic" activity, which may be due to the fact that the author himself is not involved in this area, but at least from the work itself, there is no description of this. Further, you will find that the members of the Administrator are also from different dimensional realms, different countries and races. In other words, the Authority is an independent armed organization that is not subordinate to any dimensional realm or country. This reminds me of the secret organization "Mithril" in "Full Metal Mania", the two are really very close, but "Mithril" is underground, and even the world does not know that such an organization exists, and the Time and Space Administration is completely open in the world of magic knowledge.
But it's a big question whether such an organization can survive.
First, the huge sources of funding needed for the organization to function. The Mithril in Fullmetal Frenzy is funded by private sponsorship and some of Mithril's own for-profit organizations. At this point, it is not impossible to copy the way of "Mithril", but in terms of the scale of the Authority, the construction of facilities alone is probably several orders of magnitude higher than that of "Mithril", not counting the operation of the organization.
Second, such an open organization, in the course of exercising its functions, will inevitably encounter resistance from other dimensional realms. However, no country with independent sovereignty will accept an organization like the Temporal Authority to make a big move in its own territory, unless there are two situations, one is that the country of the Dimensional Realm is under the institutional management of the Authority, and the other is that the Authority wants to be the enemy of the armed forces of the entire country. No matter how you look at it, it's problematic.
So what kind of organization is the Authority? At least in terms of the management world that has appeared in the current works, the concept of "state" has not appeared, well, let's put this question aside for the time being, and let's take a look at the history of the Authority.
The Glossary describes it as "an organization founded about 150 years ago to eradicate the quality weapons of the Dimensional World and to manage the primeval heritage." Seventy-five years before the beginning of the management of the various dimensional realms, the Authority system was established, and the era entered a new era. ”
Two points in time are mentioned here, one is about 150 years ago, as can be seen from the chronology of the dictionary, 150 years ago was the time point when the quality weapons of the Dimensional Realm such as Midcherda and Belka were flooded, and at this time the Time and Space Administration was established. It is said that it is true, it may be just a prototype under the concept, and a small number of people with lofty ideals in the world of magic have gathered some armed forces to correctly "guide" the development of the dimensional world with the strength of the armed forces that are not subject to any country or political system.
Then 75 years ago, the establishment of the Authority system. This shows that the entire system within the Authority was a gradual and slow process from 150 years ago to 75 years ago (that is, 75 years before the beginning of the new calendar), which is described in the chronology as "a decision to ban the use of quality weapons, and the era name was changed to 'New Calendar'".
Let's start with the issue of changing the era name. For an organization that does not belong to any country, there is no point in such a thing as an "era name", although it is said that in different "dimensional worlds", a unified "Greenwich Mean Time" is needed, but this should not have been such a "demand" just 75 years ago, but has been formed since the era of dimensional world exchanges. If that were the case, the Authority would have changed the chronology for the sole purpose of declaring sovereign independence.
My personal bold guess is likely to be the case, 150 years ago, when mass weapons flooded the Dimensional Realm, many Dimensional Realms were devastated, including Belka during the ancient war, and the people and materials that survived were not enough to sustain the establishment of a "country", so in such a context, before these "countries" were recovered, the Time and Space Administration was managing these Dimensional Realms as a "temporary government", Of course, if dimensional crimes occur in these jurisdictions, the Authority is obliged to deal with these incidents. This echoes the description in the chronology that "75 years before the beginning of the management of the Dimensional Realms, the Authority system was established", and it also explains the relationship between the previous Authority system and the Dimensional Realms.
To sum up, it is very likely that the "management world" under the jurisdiction of the Time and Space Administration does not have its own independent national system. At the same time, the situation of Belka is also a bit special, in the north of Midcherda set aside a part of the area for the Belka Autonomous Region, since it is an autonomous region, it means that there is an independent management system, and in fact the autonomous region is indeed under the management of the Holy King's Church, but if the autonomous region only has the Holy King's Church, I am afraid that it is meaningless to set up such a district, I think that in the north of Midcherda, there should be more Belka ethnic groups, and those people may be the descendants of the ancient Belka chaos.
It should also be added that the chronology mentions that "from the first year of the new calendar, it was decided to prohibit the use of quality weapons", in other words, this guiding ideology may not have been established until then. Some people may say that it is because the Authority was not formally established before that, but 75 years ago, that is, in the first year of the new calendar, it was only the Authority that established its own system, and the so-called concept could not be born and determined in an instant, but there must be a process. So what was it like in the 75 years before the new cause? Struggle! I believe that there will be two different factions within the original Authority, one insisting on relying on "clean power" or magic to achieve their ideals, and the other group that is reluctant to give up quality weapons for various reasons (most of them do not possess magical qualifications). As a result, the "Three Admirals" won the most decisive victory in the political struggle, pushing the Dawn Authority into a new era.
Perhaps, the real world is not so ideal.
2. The Church of the Holy Kings and Belka
I mentioned earlier the administrator of the Belka Autonomous Region, the Holy King Church, so let's talk about the Holy King Church, it can be said that such a religious group that "seems" to be able to compete with the ground headquarters of the Time and Space Administration in "Sts" is actually a religious group, which is really ......
The description of the Church of the Holy Kings in the Glossary reads, "The worship of the 'Holy King.'" This 'Holy King' was originally the king of the ancient Belka, and the Holy King Cult has since developed by promoting the Holy King as the spokesman of God. ”
Judging from this passage, I always feel that it is a bit of a cult organization. However, just reading this passage still does not explain one of my questions - did the appearance of the Church of the Holy King come before or after the death of the Holy King himself (in this case, I am afraid it should be based on the source of Vivio's genetic factor, the Holy Lady of Olivier)? Personally, I think it seems unlikely that the deification of a nation's kings as an object of faith while they are still alive, and although the propaganda of the Church of the Holy Kings is "the spokesman of God", all kings since ancient times have proclaimed "divine authority of kings", but still no king will be deified while he is alive. Therefore, I believe that the appearance of the Holy King's Church was after the death of the Holy King, and from the fact that the holy relics managed by the Holy King's Church are genuine (because of the successful reproduction of Vivio), it may be that shortly after the Holy King's death, the Holy King's cronies or people directly related to the Holy King received the holy relics (shrouds) and the idea of establishing the "Holy King's Cult" germinated. Because if the interval between the ages is relatively long, it has been lost and sold several times, and it is difficult to ensure that the relics must be genuine, and if it is a fake, the birth of Vivio will be meaningless.
In the end, relying on the belief in the Holy King and the favorable conditions of holding the Holy Relic, the Holy King Church has become the administrator of the descendants of Belka today, although the responsibility is not light, but the power is not small. Moreover, the Autonomous Region of Belka is the only known autonomous region recognized by the Temporal and Space Authority, which of course can be considered that it does not appear in the work but does not mean that it does not exist, and it is also possible that the Dimensional Realm where Belka is located has become uninhabitable (the history of Belka in "SoundStageX"), so the Authority has to "borrow" the land of Midcherda to live, so the Authority assigned part of the northern region to Belka for autonomy. This is the right to enjoy the treatment of the "state", why would the Authority prescribe such good conditions? Maybe it's the policy of Huai Rou, because even if the land of Belka is destroyed, but there are still a large number of descendants, among whom there are many excellent talents like Karim, if they are not properly handled, it will bring unimaginable consequences, and if they are used properly, it is a rare force for the Authority, so the pros and cons are clear at a glance.
As for the Holy King Church, it seems that the characteristics of proclaiming its own teachings "in the name of the Holy King" are more obvious than the belief in the Holy King. And as a royal family that waged a war of unification (which was also a war of aggression against other small nations), it was strange how to gain the accepted respect of Belka's bereaved descendants. I tend to believe in the "doctrine" of the king, and that the king itself is just a symbol. Perhaps the Holy King's Church made a notable effort to rescue Belka's remnants after Belka's demise, and its teachings and deeds were preached to each other, eventually gaining the influence it has now.
On the other hand, there may be exceptions to the discussion of the deification of living kings. This idea is estimated to be more direct to guess from the "emperor", although the divine power of the monarch is granted in ancient times and there are countries in the past, but the king's bloodline is directly deified, and in essence there is no change in the emperor system. The emperor of Japan is a god descendant, so of course there is no problem with faith. Of course, the setting of the magic cannon, especially the Belka setting, leans towards medieval Europe......
About the Authority for the Management of the World Realm. The debate over whether peace in the world should be based on a magical system or a scientific system (in this case, a weapon of quality) is an inconclusive debate that has been fought in many works. I'm also in favor of consequentialism here, and the magical energy faction has succeeded.
As for the way the world world operates, although I am in favor of judicial organizations, it does have such a high authority to "change names", which is not something that judicial organizations can do. Of course, there is no such thing as the "Mead calendar" that clearly highlights the First Generation, and the Provisional Government is a good idea (although it seems that the "governance" of the Authority is now only reflected in the management of dimensional crimes and lost property)
There is another possibility that you may find unreasonable, that is, the Authority actually only controls the armed forces, and the specific governance of the people's livelihood is carried out by the governments that manage the world, that is, the Authority only manages the stick, and the carrot has an independent administrative side. Here, the General Administration only acts on cross-dimensional crimes, while the Ground Headquarters enforces the order management of the world. Of course, such an executor is very unflattering, and in fact, most of the world's world has indeed settled down, so that the system of the Authority has been maintained until now, in fact, it is also a thin ice.
But let me quote a little bit about the real world, the Japanese people have full trust in their own police system, and although detective films always make fun of the police's IQ, they generally do not question the attitude of the police when facing a case. After removing the halo of the protagonist of the series, the police are even more respected by the people.
Combined with Lieutenant General Reggias's dissatisfaction with the lack of strength in the above-ground headquarters and the concentration of powerful people in the General Administration, it can be inferred that when the Authority system was established, strict restrictions were imposed on the armed forces of the above-ground headquarters and the conditions for the intervention of the General Administration, and the open military intervention of the StS General Headquarters also involved the activation of the Cradle of the Ancient Heritage. If the Authority arbitrarily breaks through this scale, then it is not surprising that it will be resisted by the management world. From this point of view, it is really similar to "Mithril".
The setting is expanded because it wants to continue the story.,But there's always an idealistic side.,Can you say that's the consideration of Tsutsuki now? Of course, as the story progresses, at least more and more people die during the incident......
Regarding the operation of the system of the world, let's continue to look at Force and continue to revise the speculation
In a sense, the "world realm" is more like a "city, a village, or a group of landforms" than a "country" in reality. In these two episodes, the world is shuttled, and then linked to A's and other animation scenes, "The world of the world" is often used as "landforms" to leave an impression on readers, which is only possible in small and medium-sized countries even in reality. Maybe it's because the concept of "global village" has become a concretization after the transportation technology has reached the dimensional level (far away)
The following is a personal sentiment, if the magic cannon pursues the "reality" set by the institution, it may further weaken rather than enhance its own independent existence, although there is also a feeling of constant weakening now......
It is impossible to determine whether or not the Holy King Church is "pretending" in the name, after all, the person who founded the Holy King Church no longer exists. Then the subject of faith you mentioned is doctrine, which does not seem to be very in line with the logic of religion, religion is generally because of the belief in a certain (or more) gods, so as to abide by the doctrine, to say how the church can get so many Belka descendants to agree, this is probably not true, at present we know that the number of people in the Tao is only a few of the characters who appear on the stage, even if many of the staff in the church are not necessarily descendants of the ancient Belka, so how many people supported the Holy King Church in that war-torn era, It's hard to know for sure. At the same time, it is very likely that the Holy King was a relatively powerful state at that time, so it is possible that there will be more people willing to follow the Holy King, and later the Holy King's Church, and I also mentioned in the text that the Church was very likely to be founded after the death of the Holy King, assuming that the death of the Holy King also represents the end of the Belka War period, then the power of other countries is likely to be wiped out, so the Holy King's Church can stand alone and become the "only" large-scale religious group remaining in ancient Belka.
Of course, this point only exists in one hypothesis, but here is a question that cannot be explained at present, that is, which are the main contradictions in the unification war of the Holy King? If the three families of the Saint King, Hades, and Overlord who have appeared now were involved in the confrontation back then, then the relationship between them now seems too unreasonable (of course, this is the need of the plot), even if they know that Vivio is just a clone, such a reaction is quite unreasonable. Taking a step back, even though they were dependent on each other at the time (assuming that the other two were vassal states of the Holy King), it was difficult for the alliance in the war to really elevate to such a level. At this point, all I can think of is "not only is Vivio a clone, but the other two are probably not the kings of the past, but descendants". This may also explain the age of Icks and Einhardt.
In addition, I still doubt that there will be a church that will worship the Holy King himself when he is alive, after all, religion uses a living person as a god to worship it, which only makes it more difficult to operate. As for the ground headquarters, Regias should be a typical representative of the hawks, and perhaps his three backstage members are the losers of the struggle back then (laughs).
The last thing you mentioned about the visual perception of the "world world" in the film is like this in most works, to set up a non-existent world or country, the only way to distinguish it from the impression is to use the landform and environment. For example, "hot", "cold", "dense forest", "urbanization", "desert", "swamp", etc., this kind of drastic change will be more impressive to the audience than the name.
And what kind of concept is the "world world", there is still no way to find too good evidence for this.
When I said earlier, I meant that the population was small compared to the entire ancient Belka period, and even if there were thousands of believers, it was only a drop in the bucket of the population at that time. Assuming that if the fact that the Holy King was not the only ruler at the time is reliable (i.e., it was not an imperial age, but a state), it is hard to imagine that most people would have been willing to follow the Church, and if the "majority" of those who survived became believers in the Church, I can only believe that it was because more people on the Holy King's side survived. If you push it back again, there will be such a result, and it is very likely that the strength of the Holy King at that time was superior to that of other countries.
Of course, this must be based on other assumptions. And I also think that there should still be descendants of ancient Belka who are on the opposite side of the Holy King and the Holy King's Church, such as the Knights of the Storm, from the current point of view, they should not have much connection with the Holy King, and they are now working for the Church to a certain extent, also because the Church is more of a symbol of Belka, than the Holy King, and Vivio's appearance is just accidental, which I also agree with.
The identity of the "Holy Princess", I prefer that she is the Holy King himself, if it is the crown prince, the title should be different, and it is not easy to say whether Einhardt is a clone or not, so I have not officially studied this issue, but I guess it should not be, after all, there are two clones that seem to be very unoriginal.
When it comes to the origin of religion, in fact, the example you gave does not contradict my point of view, how the Church of the Holy King originated is not very clear, and it is possible that there was such an organization when the Holy King was alive, but in the real sense, it must have been transformed into worship for the Holy King and deified after the death of the Holy King; At the same time, it is also possible that the Church of the Holy King was founded after the death of the Holy King, and both of these are possible, and they all have one thing in common, that the formal formation must have been after the death of the Holy King.
As for the Supreme Council, if they are a staunch supporter of the Authority's charter and maintain and manage order in the world with their magical power, then there must be a reason why they are willing to use quality weapons because the Authority's personnel adjustments have made the defense of the ground headquarters insufficient? This does not seem to be convincing enough, if there is no enough reason for them to change, it can only be said that they have not changed, and they have advocated not giving up quality weapons from the beginning.
They were initially willing to experiment with mana, but at the same time were not adamantly opposed to quality weapons. Now that I see that the amount of mana is not enough to completely change the world, I think about returning to the quality weapon, or maybe I want to use both kinds of power.
It is also possible that Einhardt is a remnant of the Overlord royal family, which is different from the Holy King Hades, although it is one of the most natural possibilities
The Holy King's Church, first of all, I am not arguing that the Holy King's Church was still in existence in the ancient Belka period, and that it was probably only those who supported the Holy King's faction.
It doesn't matter whether the surviving people supported the Holy King or not, because the countries that were not annexed at that time had already given up the name of ancient Belka, which means that unless they deliberately researched the origin of the regimes of the various worlds, these descendants of the Belka of the world no longer regard themselves as blood relatives of the Belka world, but only residents of this new world. Therefore, unless the "organization" that "does not support the Holy King and insists on Belka's legitimacy" is formally proposed, this possibility will not be considered for the time being.
Moreover, when the Holy Royal Clan perished, there was also the possibility that other "infidels" who had been resisted for a long time would take the opportunity to eliminate the believers of the Holy King who had lost their main combat effectiveness, after all, the royal family that had been extinct for hundreds of years, no matter how much the force of the Church Knights was purely relied on, it would not be enough to deal with the overall situation. Because the Holy King was once strong, the current believers must be derived from the believers at that time, and there are more than them, and they are not absolute.
Let's put it this way, the Crusaders also had some bad history in those days, but the strength of Catholicism today cannot be said to be a direct consequence of the force of the time. The Church of the Holy King may have been once a political tool, but its current prestige cannot be achieved by the history of the Holy King's existence alone.
The Storm Knight was born much earlier than the Saint King's Unification War, so there was no question of opposition or opposition at all
As for the anti-church or anti-Authority, this will be the setting of the line towards war, and there is always a possibility, not to mention this aspect, the interests are different
