Volume 1 The World Volume 2 Thank you, and talk about the update
(Thank you for the red reward of Hanxue directly half of the alliance, it's too cruel!) At the same time, thank you to the third uncle. I wish "The Destiny Master" to continue to be popular! )
The night before yesterday, I received QQ messages from several Shenmen brothers and sisters, saying that you made an appointment? Ha ha.
Feibai sent me two very sincere long messages, very touched, I know you are afraid that I will suffer, and I also know that the network serialization is different from magazines and physical books, if you can update as much as possible, it will be beneficial to the growth of recommended votes and the increase of new readers, thank you Feibai! Lie's mother also sent a message, very touched too, she will definitely insist on being a fox and live a good life. There are other brothers and sisters, not one by one, your care for me, I am impressed!
Recently, I've been so busy writing and doing a lot of things that I haven't had time to get on the Q group, but I think you should have discussed the issue of updates, so that's why you've left me messages. Regarding the update, I would like to start by telling you about my daily writing schedule. Generally speaking, I use the morning to conceive a detailed outline of small chapters, to see if there are any logical problems, and then I actually start writing in the afternoon. In other words, for 7 or 8 hours a day, the ratio of ideation to writing is about 3:5 (sometimes even more). If you have to deal with some trivial matters, or go out to meet friends to talk about things (which is often the case lately), or if you are sick (which you have been doing a lot lately), you often have to postpone your writing time until 12 p.m.
In the past, when I was writing "Sou Shen Ji", except for the interval between each volume or each story unit (about 12 weeks), I wrote 8,000 words a day, which was very stable. When I wrote "Savage Story", I wrote 7,000 words in 8 hours a day, which was stable, but I spent more time on ideation. Because the story is long, it is necessary to ensure balance and consistency of logic. After writing a story unit, it's often necessary to go through it again every other day to make sure there are no mistakes. This habit has been preserved to this day.
But I have to admit that when I wrote "The Wizard of the Clouds", I was not the energetic teenager I was ten years ago, with no family chores and no other cooperation matters to disturb. I also want to try to get back to more than 6,000 a day, and I want to do two or even three more shifts a day, but at least for now, it's hard to do. But I did do my best.
From the day I quit my job in 2002 to write full-time, I tried to demand professionalism from myself. The so-called professionalism is not just about rushing back at night to prepare for the day's update after talking about things outside during the day; It's not just about sticking to daily ideation and writing when you have stiff necks or colds and fevers for more than ten days in a row; Of course, it's not just about writing on a tablet after a party with friends or a family member with a daughter...... I have always believed that these things do not need to be explained to outsiders, because since it is a profession, unless you are very sick, you should not let the Si affairs of the Si people interfere with your work, and everyone who works is like this. That's the minimum level of professionalism that we have.
But what I want to make clear is that in my opinion, there is a more important and worthy professionalism than these. Since I have made writing my life's work, I must not waste my time and my own life writing things that are perfunctory to my readers. The professionalism that I have always tried to adhere to is to use all my efforts to try my best to imagine an interesting world, interesting stories, and interesting people, and tell them to you in an interesting way, so that you can remember them for a long time after reading them.
I have also carefully studied many current writing methods, and I have also considered that if I simply use Xu Xuan to subdue the four beasts, seize the magic weapon of the cheats, and constantly upgrade the structure of the girl, to continue this story in an infinite loop, then maybe it will be much faster to write, and it will also maximize my interests in a short period of time. But I ended up vetoing it. There are many reasons for this. The most important thing is, of course, that this way of writing does not allow me to experience the thrill of creation myself, and it also goes against the professionalism I follow. Even if it's a pot of instant noodles, I still hope to use a good soup as a base, add some beef or pork ribs, spread an egg, and add some fresh vegetables, so that you can feel that it still has some worth remembering and some nutrition.
You can call me obsessive-compulsive, or you can say that I have a tendency towards pseudo-perfectionism, but I really can't write a story that doesn't move me regardless of the idea, regardless of logic, and put aside the character setting and outline. Since it takes up precious time in my life, it should have a longer value.
A few years ago, when I was chatting with friends such as Toad and Luoshui, I mentioned some authors with tens of thousands of words, and while I was envious and jealous, I said that since the speed of writing is far less than others, then I have to try to make the reader's time stay and read in proportion to my writing time. I said, let's not compete with who is more popular than who is now, but who is more popular for a longer time. We don't want to compare the income that writing brings us, but the various copyright benefits that writing brings us.
Each author has their own different strengths, as well as their own specific market and readership. Any side-by-side comparison is meaningless. For me, the only thing I can grasp and must insist on is to demand myself with professionalism, and write works that are not perfunctory to myself, not perfunctory readers, not waste my life, and have long-lasting meaning. And only such works can bring me sustainable and rich returns.
Again, brothers and sisters, I can't promise to give you 2 or 3 more times a day, but I can promise to give you a good story to write as best I can. Because waste is shameful.
Lu You said: "Kung Fu is outside the poem", to write a good poem, you need not only to practice the rules behind closed doors, but also to live a good life. A person who does not live well cannot write good poetry. Even the most whimsical stories need real characters, real emotions, real life and understanding. So I especially like the sentence in the message of the strong mother: be yourself and live well.
Thank you all, the Hand Remnant Emperor will work hard!
