Chapter 69: The Sewers

Although it has been decided to deal with the Chamber of Secrets and the Basilisk before Dumbledore is kicked out of Hogwarts.

But he actually really needed to do it.

It's just a matter of finding the location of the secret room.

Gawain wasn't ready to act like a fool, carrying a wand, and rushed into the secret room to find Quirrell and Riddle desperately.

As for the basilisk that had been trapped in the waterways by Professor Dumbledore?

Just lead a team of roosters.

The problem is solved.

The basilisk was terrified of the crowing of the rooster, which was a deadly threat to them.

The location of the secret room is actually not difficult to find.

Quirrell's whereabouts have revealed too many clues. And no matter where the thing is hidden, there must be a way through the bathroom on the fourth floor.

But the real danger is that there is likely to be a Quirrell hidden in the current secret room, as well as Riddle with the back of his head.

So, in the case of a choice.

Gawain wanted to avoid finding his way through the bathroom on the fourth floor.

After leaving the principal's office on the eighth floor, Gawain did not go straight back to the Gryffindor Tower, but went straight down to the dungeon.

More precisely.

It is in front of the Potions professor's office in the dungeon.

Snape was so inhospitable that Gawain knocked on the door for five or six minutes before he saw his unhappy face and wet hair.

Even so, when he heard Gawain's request for help, he was very enthusiastic to agree.

"How the hell does this old bat know how many diaries I still have in my hand?"

Walking up the stairs, Gawain thought very incomprehensibly.

Snape stared at him.

Like a hungry wolf, sparkling!

Calling out the fat lady, Gawain returned to the Gryffindor common room, where he saw Hermione sitting by the fire with a large bag waiting for him.

This suddenly gave him a bad feeling.

"Gawain, Fred and George said you bought all the saltpeter from Jokowi, do you want to blow up the whole of Hogwarts!"

Hermione frowned as she stared at Gawain and whispered as if she were going to throw the bag of saltpeter into the fireplace if he couldn't give him a solid reason.

"Of course not!"

Gao Wen shook his head violently.

He just wanted to blow up a few... A washroom.

"Jane, do you know the Slytherin Chamber of Secrets?"

When confronted with an angry Hermione, justification is never as effective as changing the subject.

"Supposedly that was before Slytherin left Hogwarts, wasn't it? he wanted to be more careful in selecting Hogwarts students, believing that magic could only be taught to pure wizarding families.

Slytherin disliked Muggle-born students and considered them untrustworthy, and even got into a big fight with Gryffindor over it. Legend has it that he left some weapons in it, able to..."

Hermione had undoubtedly memorized the information about the Chamber of Secrets in its entirety, almost without pause.

What she didn't say was self-evident.

- Eliminate the little wizards from ordinary people.

"Then if I say, these saltpeters might help us find where the entrance to the secret room is?"

Gawain blinked.

They sat on the chaise longue in front of the fire, and in front of them were two thick stacks of books, useful or not, relevant or not, at least there first.

"No, there's no mention of the Chamber of Secrets here.

What we do know now is that Tom Riddle got the Special Contribution Award, right? But why did he get that medal? You know, he's not that helpful guy?"

Hermione flipped through Hogwarts: A School History, but was sure there wouldn't be anything of value there, as she had seen it too many times.

She grabbed her messy hair and said irritably.

"Maybe we can look at what else happened that year? Fifty years ago... It is said that a girl died in an accident and that a student was expelled from Hogwarts. ”

Gao Wen followed her train of thought and looked up the school calendar. That was when he had asked Hermione to borrow it from the library when he wanted to check Kiro's background.

"What's her name?"

Hermione asked casually.

"Myrtle Elizabeth Warren. ”

Wait?"

"Crying myrtle?!"

They shouted in unison.

After surviving the next morning's class, Gawain and Hermione went to the abandoned bathroom on the second floor. They were accompanied by an owl.

It was for "Professor Snape flew in".

Pushing open the hidden door, Gawain carefully examined the bathroom. It's not much different from the boys' one, with a large washstand in the center.

It consists of eight trapezoidal white porcelain basins clustered like petals of a flower, and above the white porcelain basin is a regular hexagonal decorative roof.

"Is this broken?"

On one of the dragons' heads, Gawain found the ornament of a small snake that snailed. He tried to twist away, but no water came out.

In the corner of the mirror behind the dragon's head is engraved the unfamiliar name "Corvinus Gaunt".

"You're here again, are you looking for me?"

In the toilet bowl behind Gawain, a wet ghost suddenly appears, and she is naturally a crying myrtle.

"Of course... Oh, yes. ”

Gawain subconsciously wanted to refuse, but Hermione glanced at him fiercely and told him to "think about it" again.

His words undoubtedly made Myrtle very happy.

She even jumped out of the toilet bowl and hugged Gawain.

"Myrtle, your last name is Warren, right?"

Gawain tried his best not to shiver, and took a step back and said. Being pierced by a ghost, as if it had been immersed in ice water, was shockingly cold.

Myrtle nodded.

"I want to ask, you..."

Gawain racked his brains to consider the language, but he couldn't imagine how he could say "How did you die" elegant and decent!

"How did you die?"

Hermione gave him a blank look and picked up.

But Myrtle's whole appearance has changed, and she looks like she's never been asked such a question to her taste.

"It was horrible. ”

She said in a hoisted voice, looking interested.

"That's what happened here, I died in this little room, I remember it clearly.

I hid because the boy was always making fun of my glasses. I was crying when I locked the door when I heard someone come in.

He said something weird, I guess it must be a foreign language, but it was definitely a boy. So I opened the door, called him to use his toilet, andβ€”"

Myrtle triumphantly emphasized, her face beaming, "I'm dead." ”

"How did you die?"

Gawain and Hermione looked at each other.

"I don't know," Myrtle said abruptly, in a quiet tone, "I just remember that I saw a pair of huge yellow eyes, so big."

My whole body seemed to be lifted, and then I floated away......" she looked at Gawain obsessively, "and then came back. ”

"Right there!"

Myrtle pointed to the faucet that Gawain had felt a little strange at the beginning.

Everything makes sense.

The Chamber of Secrets is hidden in the sewers of Hogwarts, and this is the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets.

And Gawain was pretty sure that the bathroom, if it had a protective spell, had been added later, not from Slytherin.

Because Hogwarts' sewer system was the result of learning from Muggle architecture hundreds of years ago, even the great Salazar Slytherin could not have foreseen this.
