Chapter 60: Holly
"We're gathered here today because of some unspeakable dark secret, aren't we? Of course, that secret might smell a little bigger. β
Gawain stood on the low platform in the center and said that it was a place set aside for explanations and demonstrations.
"We love garlic but can't always eat it. β
His words made many people laugh out loud.
"Thanks to Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick, we have the best instructors. Thanks also to Professor Snape, for him, our venue is as handsome as his new hairstyle. β
Gawain exaggeratedly held his hair and motioned to Professor Snape's new look after washing his hair.
"How can we forget Mrs. Pince and Mr. Filch, who provided us with valuable equipment. God, I wish I said that would make the next time I get a feather duster a little less energetic. β
Mrs. Pince was merciless in throwing a feather duster at anyone who dared to speak out loud in the library. Gawain "experienced" it once, and it hurt.
But the gossip is pretty much there.
It's time to get down to business.
"We are a pure learning community, where mutual aid, equality, and exploration will always be our pursuit. There are two regular study sessions and one special event per week, and the specific activity time will change every week. β
He pressed his hand down and looked at Harry and Katie, signaling that the Quidditch team's training would not conflict.
"Special events are not limited to the form, it may be a duel, it may be a discussion, it may be a lecture. But trust me, they're going to be interesting. β
Gawain paused.
What follows will be the really important content, the inspiration he took from Miranda.
"We only have one rule, or requestβto bring back what we get from here. What you think after each activity, research after being inspired, and anything else you think might help. β
Gawain continued.
"Of course, it's completely voluntary. Each time you submit an activity experience, you will receive 5 points. Individual studies will be awarded higher points based on value.
Spend 3 points to check the experience of others, and more points can be used to check the success of the study, or invite members for private guidance. β
This is Gawain's true purpose.
He is not lacking in talent, but he lacks enough imagination and valuable ideas.
As for points?
He was in charge of the audit, just by the way...
After he finished speaking, the room suddenly fell silent.
Until suddenly someone raised their hand.
"Uh... Autumn?"
"What about the results of the research? I mean, you can't share it with anyone else?"
She asked, frowning.
Many chimed in.
Gawain stepped out of the way, and Hermione walked in front of him.
"I'll explain that. Once submitted, you will still be free to share your research, and the choice is entirely up to you. β
She spoke clearly, deliberately slowing down the speed of her speech, looking serious.
"Professor McGonagall promised me that she would reward the house with points and the opportunity to apply for a scholarship for particularly good submissions, just like Gawain did!"
Hermione raised her head, brown shivering.
Gao Wencai didn't want to take up all the highlights, and it wasn't his credit alone.
"Any questions?"
Gawain clapped his hands and asked everyone.
After answering a few more questions about the use of points, there were no objections.
Harry was a little worried, though.
The Hufflepuff fourth-graders looked at him with hot eyes, as if they wanted to swallow him alive.
"Well, we only have one last step left to do β come up with a name for our community. How about calling it Avalon, I propose?"
Gawain said with a satisfied smile.
However, his proposal was rejected by everyone faster than the French surrendered, and was eventually named the "Holly Society".
Take a holly branch as a badge.
The name was coined by Harry, and his wand was made of holly wood.
- Holly wood is characterized by precision, and is often seen as a symbol of battle, protection, and the fight against evil. And because it is an evergreen plant, it often represents persistence and patience.
In terms of organization, Gawain is the president, Hermione is the secretary, and Ravenclaw's Cho and Parvati are the joint officers.
"Next, it's the content of our first event. Sister Penelope, the stage is handed over to you. β
Gawain stepped under the table.
"I thought you're going to sleep on it? Ahem, I'm Penelope from fifth grade Ravenclaw, and I'm going to teach you a spell today. β
Penelope teased Gawain, then deftly took out his wand and pointed forward.
"Protego!"
A silvery transparent wall of qi was suddenly erected, and it shimmered with a faint fluorescence.
"Percy!"
"Expelliarmus!"
Percy's wand, which had been waiting on the other side, shook and shot out a fiery red light.
The red light was extremely fast, but in an instant, it had already pierced the transparent wall, dissipating into a burst of light and shadow.
"As you can see. This spell creates an invisible wall that blocks opponents' attacks. If it's skilled enough, it can do something like this... Percy!"
Penelope's wand waved, and the changes in the qi wall were no longer so transparent, but instead had a milky white, looking like egg whites.
"Expelliarmus!"
The same red light flashed, but this time the difference was that the light hit the wall and did not go out, but went back the way it came.
Percy's wand took off and flew out in a whirl!
"Just like this! As long as your will is strong enough and the wall formed is strong enough, it can bounce back the curse that came from the attack!
It can't resist spells that are too strong, such as..."
Penelope stopped talking.
"Of course, that's what you'll need to know later. Now, I think you all can't wait to learn?"
"Of course!"
The answer is almost unanimous.
Next, everyone was divided into teams of two, one using the spell and the other throwing the mat against it, and the two took turns.
And Gawain finally understood the reason why he had always struggled to improve when he practiced this spell by himself.
- He didn't really want to protect.
"Gawain, you have to know that this spell will only show its strongest power when you really want to protect something from the bottom of your heart. β
Penelope frowned, she watched Gawain demonstrate several times, but it was always a very shallow layer, and she looked shaky.
"That's right, when you shout a spell, try to think of something positive, like I'm going to think about Friday's book club, or... Oops!"
Percy said seriously, and was forced by Penelope to turn an elbow and gasp in pain.
"Thank you. β
Gawain politely thanked them and turned around and threw a mat at Hermione, but it slammed into the transparent wall halfway through and slid down.
"Maybe Mr. Ollivander is right, I'm better suited to aggressive spells and shapeshifts. β
Gawain thought a little sullenly.
But he doesn't have many regrets either.
After all... As long as he can lay all the enemies down, he doesn't have much need to protect them, does he?
