An aperture of 18-55 should be around 8, and imaging is better. The exposure time depends on the situation, if there is no shutter release, and the aurora is relatively bright, the exposure is 30s, ISO200, and the aperture is F4. If the aurora is dark, increase the ISO or open the aperture wide.

If you have a shutter release, you can stop down the aperture and increase the exposure time. However, the exposure is too long, and Yunluo doesn't think it's too good. Because the wind is too strong there, the camera will always shake, and the aurora is changing, and after a few minutes of exposure, the shape of the aurora is not clear.

Experienced people will use the B mode, which fixes the aperture and ISO, and determines the shutter speed based on sensation, because the brightness of the aurora is constantly changing. This cloud falls on bad math. I really can't do it, so I'm using the A mode. Most of the clouds fix the ISO to a maximum of 1600. The shutter speed should not exceed 15 seconds for basic settings. ISO definitely needs to be lower than 1600 otherwise it will become impossible to distinguish between stars and noise, and 15 seconds is the number of seconds that clouds fall to their personal favorite, which can catch the wave feeling when the aurora swings.

Please remember to shoot in RAW file. If you don't use the shutter release cable, remember to use the two-second shooting function, otherwise the shutter will vibrate to the camera and make the photo blurry. Because most of the aurora shots are wide-angle and fisheye, the focal length of the clouds is infinitely far away without worrying about the blurring of the foreground, and the aperture depends on the situation.
