Chapter 67: The Chamber of Secrets is Opened

Black flames swept across the invisible wall that Professor Snape had propped up, and while it made an unpleasant creaking sound, it wasn't actually strong enough to push it away.

It took about five or six seconds for the flames to burn out. Under its shroud, the fourth floor had become tattered, and many of the metal armor had been blackened.

Luckily, it's close to the restricted area corridor, so there aren't any portraits, otherwise... It was hard for Gawain to imagine how even Professor Dumbledore could have managed to restore an oil painting from a pile of black scum.

"Maybe it's only carbon-14..."

Gawain thought, spreading on the ground and not wanting to get up.

He's not hurt, he's just sheer lack of motivation.

"Sirius Black!"

Professor Snape barely squeezed through his teeth, and he reluctantly stood to his feet, chasing Quirrell in the direction where Quirrell had disappeared.

"Professor!"

Gawain shook his head helplessly and chased after him.

Without Professor Snape here, he didn't want to face Professor McGonagall who heard the voice come to him.

"I hope Jane doesn't use my backup plan..."

Thinking of the contents of the parchment that the owl had sent away, Gawain felt a sense of melancholy.

Gawain quickly caught up with Professor Snape, who glanced at Gawain and pursed his lips, but instead of running him away, he walked to the only intact place here.

- Washroom.

There was a faint sound of water waving.

Not to the extent of a twisted tap or two.

"White, stand in the back. ”

Professor Snape took his wand and cautiously stepped into the bathroom. There is a shallow layer of water on the ground, which is rapidly disappearing along the floor drain.

Rounding the wall carved with the sinuous serpent, Snape's wand pointed in front of him, and he swerved sideways forward, lunging out with one lunge.

The red light is already brewing and ready to go.

"Silent Spell Offensive Spell. ”

Gawain's eyes lit up, but his hands weren't idle, "Protego", adding a fragile layer of protection to Snape.

But neither of them thought of it.

Suddenly the screams of girls sounded in the bathroom!

It's not the kind of screaming of pain that is tormented by black magic, but the kind when a girl is in the bathroom and suddenly sees an old man in his forties wearing a black robe with a sallow face and a blank face barging in and looking around.

"Who are you? How dare you! What do you want to do? I... I warn you, voyeurism ... No way!"

Huge handfuls of water were poured at Snape from the basin on the washstand, making his face even more ugly and stiff. And Gawain also confirmed that Snape's new hairstyle definitely took a lot of effort to take care of.

Even if it gets soaked in water, it still doesn't mess up.

"Hello, Myrtle.

We're here to track down a suspicious-looking guy with a bald head and two faces?"

Gawain decided to save the day before Professor Snape tried to kill him. The Potions professor's break-in into the girls' bathroom is bad enough in itself, and if you add the charge of voyeurism into the girl's ghost...

Hermione had complained to him about Myrtle, but she was under the impression that she was mainly staying in the abandoned bathroom on the second floor, and somehow she came to the fourth floor.

"Oh, it's him! He stung me with his wand! But it's gone!"

Because of the anger, the myrtle began to shake.

She lowered her head and covered her face.

"Everybody wants to do something to Myrtle, even if she's already scared and hiding here!

She said as she sobbed, but the ten fingers covering her face were exposed again, peeping at Gawain.

While Gawain and Myrtle were "chatting" to kill time, Professor Snape had circled the bathroom, but he couldn't find any trace of Quirrell.

His face was ugly and terrible, and he opened his mouth to say something, but suddenly snorted.

Fortunately, the arrival of the phoenix broke the deadlock.

"Fawkes!"

Gawain beckoned to it, but it only stepped on Gawain's head twice before flying towards Snape and extending its right leg.

Snape removed the small roll of parchment from its lap and looked at it. The note was short and the handwriting was sloppy.

"White, go back to the Gryffindor common room. Now, more on that later. ”

He tossed the note to Gawain.

Snape didn't say a word, flicked his cloak, and walked down the stairs.

"The chamber was opened, one student was petrified, and one was taken away. Come see me at the office. ”

Gawain looked down at the note, and now he finally understood why Professor Dumbledore's flying curse had failed.

The note was signed "Albus Dumbledore".

And Gawain sincerely hoped that the two victimized students were not his acquaintances.

Along the passage, Gawain quickly returned to the tower of Gryffindor. He shouted out to the fat lady anxiously, and was greeted by a noisy discussion.

"How is that possible! Isn't that a legend!"

"Professor Dumbledore said it, and there are already victims!"

"For Merlin's sake! first haunted, now back to the Chamber of Secrets!"

Gawain noticed that something seemed to be wrong in what they were discussing, and he couldn't help but feel a little weak. He quickly scanned the common room and found that the more familiar people were here.

"Gawain, you're back!"

Neville was the first to spot him, and Harry, Ron, and Hermione followed.

"Where have you been?" Professor McGonagall told us all to come back, saying there was something important to announce. We wanted to go to you, but Professor Dumbledore stopped us, saying he would be responsible for bringing you back. ”

Hermione said anxiously, quietly pointing to the notebook in her hand with her finger. Gao Wenming confessed that she had received her own letter.

After reassuring Harry and them with the excuse of going to the owl shack, Gawain dragged Hermione to the bedroom.

Now that the common room is crowded with people, the dormitory is a quiet place to talk. Gawain first opened a box of cans for the abyss, and cast a "Silencio" spell before sitting down on the bed with peace of mind.

"Gawain, where the hell have you been! I don't think the delivery of the letter needs to hold everyone back and keep them from going up to the fourth floor!"

Hermione's eyebrows furrowed, her face full of displeasure. Just half an hour ago, Gawain wanted her to break about a dozen school rules and stop everyone from going up to the fourth floor.

To make matters worse, she did it, albeit reluctantly, and did it perfectly.

"Well, information exchange, I'll start with that. ”

Gawain smiled wryly and told Hermione what had happened in the hallway on the fourth floor, as well as some of his conjectures about Tom Riddle.

Naturally, he didn't mention the part about the "indescribable" things. But even so...

"Merlin's stroller, Professor Quirrell with the Dark Lord on the back of his head, and you and Professor Snape breaking into the girls' bathroom?"

Hermione had her mouth open, not knowing what to say.

Although the focus of her attention is also quite strange.

But Gawain didn't get nothing either.

"Is it a Slytherin chamber... Was it in the bathroom? But why would he give up the Philosopher's Stone? When he had time to break in? And what Myrtle said?"

He thought while playing a game of "whose palm is on it" with the abyss.

Hogwarts is starting to get interesting.
