Chapter 5: The City of Warriors
We packed our bags early in the morning because a new journey was about to begin.
In the morning, Captain Faense gathered us all together and made an exciting announcement to us. He tells us that the orcs are suffering like never before, and that this may well have something to do with the dark forces we have been searching for.
To do this, we'll pack our bags and get ready to set off on our way through the Misty Swamp to the ancient Orc Lands.
The mercenaries had already begun to pack the resources that the camp could take with them, and the tents and food in the camp alone were filled with several large wagons.
Soon, all of us finally loaded everything we could from the camp into the car. Mighty carriages and bands of mercenaries marched towards the misty swamp west.
The journey was fairly peaceful, and there were no encounters with orcs and stinger spiders.
After about five days' journey, we arrived at Sagre, the main city of the orcs, with the Iron Wolf Mercenary Regiment.
Saglo means 'City of Warriors' in Orc language, and was forged in the blood of the orc's martyrs.
However, when we actually stood under the castle of the orcs, we saw a very different story than we had imagined.
"How so, what's going on!" Baturu said, looking in shock at the crumbling walls of Oglu, speaking in fluent human language
"I didn't expect it to be so fast. Farnes said beside him
Without saying a word, Baturu rode the frost wolf into the city as fast as he could. The orc guards on the watchtower saw that the orc was rushing towards him, so they did not use their ballistas to shoot at the orc.
However, soon the orc guards noticed a group of humans coming not far away, and they immediately went into a state of alert, but fortunately, the group of humans stopped outside the city.
Seeing that Sagre's walls were heavily guarded, Faense ordered the mercenaries to set up camp at the place of Demi, five days before the city.
Baturu, who rushed into the city, was stunned by the scene in front of him, but he didn't expect that after more than ten days of not coming back, the place would become devastated.
The burned-out houses, the crying orcs, the corpses of the orcs piled up in the streets, all of this made Baturu's heart wreak.
He came to the tribal chieftain's hall, where he saw the wounded guards guarding him.
Baturu walked in, only to see the orc general Balk and the minotaur chief sitting there with sad faces.
Seeing Baturu walk in, Balk was taken aback, and then he was ecstatic and stepped forward to hug Baturu, he couldn't believe his eyes, Baturu was still alive.
It turned out that at Moonblade Castle that day, the wolf knight who had disappeared when Baturu set off had returned to Saglo alone.
Fearing punishment, he told the orc chieftain that the humans did not agree to send troops to the aid of the orcs, and in a fit of rage, he had Baturu put to death.
When Balk heard that his brother had been killed by humans, he was stupid. For a moment anger and sadness took over his heart, and he asked the orc chief to avenge his brother.
The orc chief once again sent the wolf cavalry to the Moonblade Fortress to ask for an explanation, but this time he didn't bring any explanation.
There was only a well-armed human army, and the corpses of those wolf riders.
For the next three days, the human army launched a fierce attack on Sagre.
It wasn't until the fourth day that the orc army was finally unable to withstand the onslaught of the humans. The gates were breached by an army of humans, and the Imperial army rushed in and burned and looted the orcs.
In the end, the orc chief Victor was taken hostage to the Moonblade Fortress, along with hundreds of orc children, which is the foundation of the future of the orc tribe.
The human commander called the orc general Balk to sign a treaty that stated that fifty carts of gold would be handed over in a month, or the orc chieftain and orc children would be put to death.
At the time of this distress, I didn't expect Baturu to suddenly return.
"I'm going to cut off the head of that fool who lied about the military. Balk remembered the wolf knight who had come back to say that Baturu was dead, but he sat down slowly.
Because the wolf knight had already died in the war against the humans to protect the chieftain, this is the orc, who can not obey the orders of the chief, but must be loyal to his own people.
Every orc is a warrior and deserves respect.
Balk also told Baturu that after the end of the human siege, the Black Tide swept through Sagre, although he eventually held on to Saglo after the orcs fought him. And that's just the forerunner of the Kuroshio, which turned out to be an army of zergs that came out of nowhere.
I don't know when Kuroshio will return here, and I don't know if the orcs will be able to withstand it then.
After learning about what had happened these days, Baturu told his brother not to worry that everything would be okay, and that he had already brought a reinforcement army.
Balk was silent for a while after listening to what Baturu said about the origin of the support army.
"It doesn't matter if they're humans or elves, the humans who can help us fight those abominable bugs and the Moonblade Fortress are our friends. The Minotaur Chief said after hearing this
"Okay, these are extraordinary times, unite all the forces that can be united. General Balk said to his brother.
That night, at the invitation of Baturu, Faense went to the Hall of the Orc Chieftains.
Along the way, Faense saw wounded orcs everywhere, and the orcs looked at Faense with hostile eyes.
"Don't mind, after all, we've just been robbed by humans. Baturu said to Faense
"I can understand it, and I'm the same if it were me. Faennes didn't take it to heart either
As soon as they entered the chief's hall, Balk and the Minotaur chief had already been waiting there for a long time.
Balk looked at the burly human with his eyes, and it was clear that his first impression of Faennes was not bad. Orcs are a powerful people, and they have a natural respect for the strong.
"Hello General Balk, I'm Faens, the head of the Iron Wolf Mercenary Regiment. ”
"My brother has already introduced you to me, and I am grateful that you have come to help us orcs, and we orcs are willing to help you in any way we can. Balk said
In this way, the atmosphere of the meeting between the leaders of the two sides was quite harmonious.
"Right now, in addition to the Kuroshio, the humans of the Moonblade Fortress are also our enemies, and I don't know if Your Excellency will be able to stand on our side. "The question from the Minotaur Chief is a bit unkind
"We don't plan to get involved in the affairs between the orcs and the empire for the time being, and for now, solving the crisis of the Kuroshio Tide is the top priority. Faennes said
"Okay, okay, since we want to cooperate, the most basic thing is to trust each other, and we can't do anything without trust. Baturu said immediately
"We orcs are not without hope, we still have some hope. It's just that our tribes are too scattered and fragmented. As long as anyone can reunite our orcs, he is the benefactor of our orc race, and we are willing to go to the trouble for our benefactor. Balk said
