XXXII. Emma's Condition
Archibald approached Winston, the director of the Department of Cardiology, several times for her daughter's condition, and Winston expressed helplessness about Emma's condition: "Mr. Archibald, to tell you the truth, we have tried various treatment options, but there is no obvious effect on Emma, and we can only use conservative treatment at present." "Does Mr. Winston mean that you have basically reached the point where you are helpless about Emma's condition?".
"I can't say that completely, because Emma's condition is extremely critical, and even if conservative treatment can maintain Emma's condition to its current state, I am afraid that only the Royal College of Physicians has the ability to do so," Winston corrected.
"In other words, with the current level of medical care in the world, it is impossible to cure my daughter's disease?" Archibald asked in frustration.
"As far as I know, no hospital seems to have made a breakthrough in this complex heart disease," Winston shook his head slightly.
Archibald was originally a white-collar worker with high quality, and when he heard Director Winston's explanation, it was as if he had reached the end of the world, and his mind was empty and there was no reaction.
"Mr. Archibald ......".
Archibald seemed to be deaf, he walked out with a sluggish pace and dull eyes, and when he came to the door of Emma's ward, he stood outside for a while, he didn't want his daughter and Emma's mother to see his face, if he collapsed, then, Emma must have lost the confidence in treatment.
After making some adjustments, Archibald changed his gentle and kind demeanor and walked into the room, where Emma's mother was sitting in front of Emma's bed peeling fruit, and Emma's face was still bruised.
Archibald greeted Emma with a smile, "My daughter looks very good today, Director Winston said that we will be discharged from the hospital after one more stage of treatment."
"That's great, when we are discharged from the hospital, we will definitely have a full meal at the best restaurant," Emma's mother said before Emma could speak.
Emma smiled sweetly at Archibald, a happy smile in her eyes.
Archibald sat down in front of Emma's bed, stroking Emma's blonde hair, and couldn't help but feel a sour smell in his heart.
"Emma, what are you going to do first thing when you are discharged from the hospital?" Archibald asked, accostingly.
"What I want to do most after I am discharged from the hospital is to make you a hearty lunch to thank you for your deep love for me" Emma's voice was weak, but her words were full of sincerity.
"My good daughter, it's enough to have you" Archibald's eyes were sour, and he reached out to hold Emma's arm, "Let's work together for my daughter's speedy recovery."
After comforting Emma, Archibald walked out of the hospital room, he inadvertently took out a box of cigarettes from his pocket, popped one out of his mouth, and suddenly thought that smoking was not allowed here, so he simply put the cigarette back in the cigarette case.
Out of the Royal College of Medicine, Archibald walked along, he could barely control his agitated emotions at this time, and according to Winston, Emma could only live for three months at most with conservative treatment.
Involuntarily walked into a bar, Archibald sat down at the bar, asked for a glass of whiskey, drank it dry in one gulp, and then asked the waiter to continue pouring the wine.
After drinking three glasses in a row, the waiter's eyes suddenly became a little shocked, the whiskey in the bar was very strong, and according to Archibald's way of drinking, I was afraid that it would not take half a cup of tea to get drunk.
"Pour the wine" Archibald pushed the glass in front of the waiter.
The waiter wanted to say a few words of advice, but when he saw that Archibald's face was unusually ugly, he swallowed back the words to his lips.
Picking up the wine glass again, the mobile phone in the pocket suddenly rang, Archibald did not dare to slack off, in case of an emergency situation in his daughter, he had to rush back immediately.
Glancing at the number, it was his old friend Brooks calling, Brooks greeted a few words on the phone, he seemed to hear Archibald's tone was a little low, so he asked with concern, "Old friend, have you encountered any trouble?" āć
The bar was a bit noisy, and Archibald walked out of the bar and briefly explained the situation to Brooks on the way back to the Royal College of Medicine.
"Archibald, listen to me, I know a Chinese doctor, he is very skilled, that time on the plane, if he hadn't rescued him, I Brooks would have gone to see God a long time ago."
Archibald had known that Brooks had a history of heart disease, and when he heard Brooks tell the Chinese doctor so amazingly, he couldn't help but have a glimmer of hope in his heart.
"Old friend, can you still get in touch with the doctor now?"
"There should be no problem, he is now studying at the Royal College of Physicians."
"What's his name?" Archibald couldn't wait to ask.
"His Chinese name is Lin Siyang," Mr. Brooks said aloud over the phone.
Archibald couldn't help but be stunned when he heard this, isn't this Chinese named Lin Siyang the first doctor when Emma was just admitted to the hospital?
Archibald was stunned for a long time and did not speak, and Brooks did not know what was wrong with Archibald, and asked again and again on the phone.
"Old friend, I offended the doctor, and I don't know if he would help Emma with his illness," Archibald sighed deeply.
After a few more conversations, Archibald invited Brooks to come over and interview him, and Brooks agreed.
After the two met, Archibald explained the situation in detail, Brooks smiled gently, and then said affirmatively, "Old friend, don't worry, my life-saving benefactor not only has superb medical skills, but also noble medical ethics, I don't think he will refuse."
