Chapter I

The so-called 'relying on the mountain to eat the mountain, relying on the water to eat the water', only from this name can be understood, this Cuiping Village is relying on Cuiping Mountain to live, although this Cuiping Mountain is not majestic and magnificent, but it is rich in products, whether it is wood in the mountains, wild vegetables, or all kinds of mountain delicacies, it can be said that there is everything, it is rare that this Cuiping Village is not conducive to making Zhi dizzy, in addition to usually playing some firewood, all the wood needed to build houses and cut down, will be replanted more. Pen × fun × Pavilion www. biquge。 infoIf you go into the mountains to hunt, you will avoid spring, and you will never hunt young animals and pregnant animals, and if you fall into the trap, you will be released. It is precisely because of this that Cuiping Mountain can feed Cuiping Village to this day. [1]

Cuiping Village doesn't know when it settled here, just look at the appearance of the house, the mottled wall skirt, you should know that it has existed for more than a hundred years! [2] From time to time, the sound of chickens and dogs barking can be heard from the village, which is home to about 30 families,[3] many of which have clothes and quilts hanging in front of their doors, as well as all kinds of wild vegetables. The women of the village gathered together in front of the door of one house and in the courtyard of another, holding needles and threads in their hands or dustpans; There are also some older men who smoke dry tobacco pouches and weave bamboo utensils in the yard; A group of children of about five or six years old were chasing, playing, and from time to time there was a crisp laughter, and sometimes there would be a cry or two, and when they heard the shouts and scolding of the adults, they scattered in a hurry, and it was not long before they were together again; There are also girls who are humming songs, watering flowers, or occasionally pouring water in a basin at the door, and disappearing in a flash, although they are wearing coarse cloth and hairpins, they still can't hide their beautiful nature; Several middle-aged men are slowly walking out of the mountains and forests with firewood knives, logs and bamboos; In front of the village is a green vegetable field, mixed with some cauliflower and wild flowers of various colors, this vegetable field is about twenty or thirty acres, planting vegetables from various families, and some women of different ages are busy working in the field; There is a small stream next to the village, about a zhang wide, originally nameless, after the people of Cuiping Village named it Huaxi, because the wild flowers on both sides of this stream are everywhere, many of them are still planted by the people of Cuiping Village, especially the young men and women are the most popular, there are flowers in all four seasons, [4] the stream is crystal clear, and occasionally you can see a few small fish swimming happily; Next to the stream was a cultivated field, also two or three hectares [5], and there were many men working in the fields at this time, teenagers, young people in their twenties, middle-aged men in their thirties and forties, and old men in their fifties and sixties.

There is a small pond in front of the vegetable field, ten zhang square,[6] from the northeast corner of the flower stream water injected, from the southwest corner of the flow out, is the village people plant lotus fish place, wait until summer, lotus fragrance; There are also many geese and ducks playing in the water, and a few women and girls are washing clothes; Because it is injected with living water, the water in the pond is not muddy and dirty, and there will be children in the village playing in the pond in summer; There are a few thatched pavilions on the pond, a circle of willow trees is planted around the pond, from the pond to the village, there is a big road paved with bluestone slabs, poplars are planted on both sides of the road, just in response to the sentence of 'willow according to the law', but also elegant.

It's just that I don't know when this Cuiping Village was built, and who pointed out the surrounding scenery. Such a scene is nothing more than a paradise!

Relying on this Cuiping Mountain and these few hectares of cropland, Cuiping Village has a fairly prosperous life, although it has to pay various taxes to the government every year, but because there are descendants of the village in the county government who serve as officials, they are not afraid that there will be more than the scope of the levy apportionment. If it is a good year, every household can have some surplus, and even in a disaster year, they can eat enough. Therefore, there has never been a tragic incident of starvation to death or the sale of children and daughters in this Cuiping village. The neighbors in the village are harmonious, the concubines are close, the father is kind and the son is filial, the brothers and friends are respectful, and the scene is peaceful and warm. Many girls from other villages want to marry in, many young men also want to marry a woman from Cuiping Village as a daughter-in-law, and even a few families come to the door. However, the people of Cuiping Village are gentle, and they do not look down on the men who are rich. [7]

The girls in Cuiping Village are not only outstanding, but also good at managing their finances, not only because 'the children of poor families are in charge of the house early', but also because they have learned from their own mothers since they were children. Therefore, if it is a foreign marriage,[8] not to mention a rich dowry, even the daughter-in-law's conduct can also make the family harmonious, and the man has no worries outside, and naturally loves the family, as the so-called 'family has a good wife, and will not suffer misfortune'. If you marry in, your mother-in-law will not be too tricky, and your sister-in-law will not be too difficult.

It's just that this Cuiping Village has a characteristic, that is, it is grouped, and xenophobic, generally not married with the outside world, and the marriages are all communicated in the village, and the relatives are added to the relatives, only in the past ten years, there are more people who take in and marry out; [9] In previous years, there were also people from other places who wanted to move in, but they were all refused, and only a few families who had married girls from the village could gain a foothold in the village after the death of their parents. [10] There are several orphaned elders whose children are married or go to the city to work, because there are clan elders in the village, and the village is all relatives, so there is no one to support them. [11] As the saying goes: "On the second day of February, the dragon raises its head; The large warehouse is full, and the small warehouse flows; Everybody small family ploughs cattle. ”

This day happens to be the second day of February, which is called the Zhonghe Festival, also known as the Spring Dragon Festival, the Nongtou Festival, commonly known as the 'Dragon Raising its Head'. Legend has it that on this day, the dragon king, who is in charge of the mountains and rivers, will wake up from his slumber, which is also known as the 'dragon raises its head'. From then on, the rain will gradually increase, the earth will begin to thaw, the weather will gradually warm, spring will return to the earth, everything will recover, and the insects, birds and beasts that have gone through hibernation will begin to wake up. So as the saying goes, 'On the second day of February, the dragon raises its head, and the scorpion and centipede show its head'.

On this morning, before people get up, they should first say, "On the second day of February, the dragon raises its head, and if the dragon does not raise its head, I will raise its head." After getting up, I had to shine a lantern on the beams of the house, and read while taking a look: "On the second day of February, the beams of the house will shine, and the scorpions and centipedes will have nowhere to hide." Every household then takes advantage of the dawn to carry lanterns to the well or river to fetch water, and when they return home, they light lamps, burn incense, and make offerings, this ritual is called "leading the field dragon". Noodles should be eaten for breakfast, which is better than "picking the dragon's head and supporting the dragon's beard"; fried oil cake than as "eat gentian"; Eating fried beans is better than "golden beans bloom, the dragon king ascends to heaven, the clouds spread rain, and the grains are abundant" to show auspiciousness. After breakfast, you should 'attract the money dragon', that is, use stove ash, sprinkle a zigzag gray line, from the door to the kitchen, around the water tank.

At noon, the name of eating wontons is "eating longan", and eating dumplings is called "eating dragon ears", eating spring cakes is called "eating dragon scales", spring cakes are pancakes, and the pancakes are to bury the dragon king's birthplacen, and eating pancakes is to chew disasters for the dragon king;

For dinner, we had rice, a 'lazy dragon' and a pig's head. Eating rice is called "eating dragons"; Eating the "lazy dragon" can relieve spring laziness, the so-called "lazy dragon" is the flower roll; And the pig's head is to pay tribute to the ancestors, to worship the heavens, the pig's head can not be eaten casually in ordinary times, the general farmers have worked hard for a year, to the twenty-third year of the month of the month when the pig slaughtered the sheep. From this day on, the food began to be improved, every day the meal had to see some meat, Chinese New Year's Eve the whole family had a reunion dinner, the first day of the new year to eat dumplings, the fifth to eat dumplings, the fifteenth day of the first month to eat the Lantern Festival, and so on the first month of the first month, the year has passed, the festival has also passed, the pork killed by the month is basically eaten, and finally only one pig head remains, this pig head can only be eaten on February 2. The dragon king is in charge of the rain, so the best sacrifice should be offered to the dragon king to eat.

On this day, women are not allowed to move needles and threads for fear of hurting the dragon's eyes; You can't wash your clothes either, for fear of hurting the dragon skin. Because people believe that "Longwei Dafa" will be smooth in the wind and rain, in order to have a good harvest, so the diet on this day is mostly named after the dragon. All this is to awaken the dragon king and pray for the dragon king's blessing of a good harvest in the year.

At 7 a.m. ---- 9 a.m., all the men, women and children of Cuiping Village, who had breakfast, gathered in the fields at the east end of the village under the call of the village elders to start the annual 'Spring Festival' ceremony. Because the time of the hour belongs to the dragon, it needs to be carried out in the time of the hour. The sky was a little overcast, and it looked like it was going to rain. In the gentle spring breeze, people do not feel warm, but a little cold, which is the so-called spring cold! Despite this, everyone was smiling, and there was no displeasure in the slightest. Because on this day, if it rains, it means that the dragon king has woken up, and this year must be smooth and rainy, and it must be a good year for a good harvest.

The patriarch[13] also changed his clothes at home and prepared the rituals; In the field, three young men in their twenties[14] were busy preparing the arrangements needed for the ceremony, led by three middle-aged men in their thirties and forties[15]. These three middle-aged men are the sons of the three surnames (Zheng, Wang, and Zhang) in Cuiping Village, and the three young men are their sons-in-law. This sacrificial matter is solemn and solemn, and the concubine and the woman cannot touch each other. Originally, every family in Cuiping Village did not have a concubine, but over the years, life has gradually improved, people's minds have changed, and greed has also arisen. [16] Others gathered in groups and cheered in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere.

For a while, there was music in the distance, and when people heard it, they all looked back, and saw a group of people walking slowly from the entrance of the village, and in front of them were three old men, all dressed in black ceremonial clothes, with brown clothes and embroidered water moire; On his head, he wears a Shumin Jueben, which is red and slightly black, and the color is like purple and brown. [17]

The three old men walked steadily, looking very slow; The old man in the middle is about seventy years old, and his hair is white, which is the old man of the Zheng clan who is the head of the three surnames and three clan elders in the village. The two old men on the left and right look like they are also in their sixty or seventy, but they can still see a little black silk between their hair, which seems to be younger than the old man in the middle. The old man on the right is the elder of the Zhang family of the three surnames in the village, and it is the Li character of the Zhang family, because the name of the Li character is not good, so it is changed to the word Peng, the name is Pengju, and the villagers are all honored to raise the old. Fang Lao held a colored staff made of five-colored silk with both hands, while Hua Lao and Ju Lao hid their hands in their sleeves and hugged them in front of their chests.

Behind the three old men are three younger old men (the ancients can be called old men after fifty), one in the middle holds a pig's head in both hands, and the left and right two people each hold a fruit bowl, which seems to be a sacrifice to all, these three people are the patriarchs of the three surnames in the village, and the middle one is the patriarch of the Zheng family, with a word and a name, named Youxin; On the left is the patriarch of the Wang clan, Anzi, named Ande; On the right is the patriarch of the Zhang clan, the water character generation, named Shui Yuan. Behind the three patriarchs were four middle-aged men, carrying a wooden plank on which stood a clay sculpture of a painted ox. The earth ox is draped in red and hung with colors, and there are clay farmers and farm tools on the side.

This spring cow, which is made of clay and the size of a real cow, is very delicately carved. A bowing and pulling plough action depicts even the bulging muscles at the shoulder blades. The oxtail swings lightly, seemingly to repel mosquitoes and flies, and it is vivid. In today's ceremony, the mud cow is the protagonist.

Behind Cainiu are four drummers, all middle-aged men. Behind them were eight young men, none of whom were carrying the same farming implement, with a plow, a flail, a plow, a flail, a plow , whips, hoes, rakes, sickles, gauntlets.

In a few moments the group went out into the field, behind the offering table, before the crowd. The three patriarchs put the tribute on the offering table, and stood aside, and there were two big red candles on the left and right sides of the offering table, in the middle of which was the tribute (pig's head and fruit), in front of the tribute was an incense burner, and a handful of incense was placed next to the incense burner; There is a larger incense burner in front of the offering table, and three futons in front of the incense burner. Four middle-aged men placed the oxen on the ground, and eight young men placed farm tools on either side of the ox.

People stand according to men and women, old and young, and respectful. Two drummers stand on the left and right sides of the table; The three elders at the back of the offering table are at the front, because they are the elders of the village and the chief priest; On the left of the three elders are the patriarchs of the three surnames, followed by the sons of the three surnames, and on the right are the wives and daughters-in-law of the three surnames.

Behind the clan elders, men stand on the left and women on the right, and the left is:

Five people with the highest seniority in the village, over 80 years old;

followed by eight of the highest seniors, over 70 years old;

followed by 11 of the highest seniors, over 50 years old;

This is followed by 15 people with the highest seniority, over 40 years old, and the next highest seniority, over 50 years old;

This was followed by thirteen of those who were of the next generation, over forty years of age;

They were followed by seventeen of those who were in their Chinese New Year's Eve or older;

Nineteen followed, Chinese New Year's Eve or older;

After that, there are twenty-two people who are fifteen years and older;

This was followed by 24 people of the second generation, those who were over the age of five and those who were the least of the lowest rank, who were over the age of five;

The remaining boys under the age of five worship with their mothers.

On the right:

The second woman is the wife of the elder of the clan, Wang Zhang, and the wife of the old Zheng is deceased;

6 people with the highest seniority in the village, over 80 years old;

followed by 10 of the highest seniors, over 70 years of age;

This was followed by fourteen of the highest seniors, over 50 years of age;

This was followed by 18 people with the highest seniority, aged 40 or above, and the next senior, aged 50 or above;

After that, sixteen were those who were over forty years old;

They were followed by seventeen of those who were in their Chinese New Year's Eve or older;

Twenty followed, Chinese New Year's Eve or older;

After that, there are 24 people who are 15 years old and above;

This was followed by 12 people who were over 5 years old and those who were the least of 5 years old;

The remaining girls under the age of five worship with their mothers.

The first item of the ceremony was to sacrifice to the Dragon King, and I saw Hua Lao come out and say: "The auspicious time has arrived, and the sacrifice has begun." Then he raised the old man and said, "Clean your hands and burn incense." The three women on the right came over with a basin, after the three elders washed their hands, the three daughters-in-law stepped forward to hand over the hand towel to wipe, after wiping, the three sons of the clan stepped forward to hand over the fire fold, the three elders stepped forward, the two elders lit candles, Fang Lao lit incense, and then raised the old and Hua Lao to retreat, Fang Lao three bowed three times and then inserted the incense in the incense burner, Hua Lao and the old man bowed again, into the incense. Then, Elder Fang took a step forward, took out a sacrificial text from his sleeve, and began to chant. After chanting, the incense burner in front of the table of the sacrificial text and the rain offering, leaning down and worshipping again, everyone behind him followed to worship, although there are only a few hundred people in Cuiping Village, but at this time it looks like it is also a black press, and the atmosphere is solemn and solemn. After the three prostrations, the prayer is finished.

The second item of the ceremony is the whip spring ox, that is, the clay sculpture of the colored ox, the three clan elders walked to the spring cow, at this time the eight young people holding the farm tools have picked up the farm tools again, separated on both sides of the spring ox. After the elder in the middle had chanted again, the old and weak women and children withdrew, while the other able-bodied men surrounded the spring oxen in the middle. The clan elder held a colored staff and slapped the spring cow twice, and the other two clan elders beat them in turn, and the salute was finished. So the three clan elders retreated, and Elder Fang shouted: "The ceremony is over, and spring is full of the earth." Before the words were finished, the people around the spring cow buzzed towards the spring cow and began to 'grab the spring cow', and those who grabbed it automatically retreated. The bigger the spring cow, the better, which is a good sign.

After snatching the spring cattle, those who have married daughters in each family will go back to their parents' homes. In the first month, "aunts" are not allowed to live in their parents' homes, and they must rush back to their mother-in-laws' house on the same day after visiting their parents' house on the second day of junior high school. On the second day of the second month of February, the mother's family came to pick up the daughter and live for a few days or half a month. The second is that the new year has just begun, and she is going to be busy again, so treat her. In the days when she was picked up, in addition to eating and drinking, "aunt and grandmother" chatted at the door, relaxed and happy.
