Chapter 15: A Little Secret in the Garden of Eden
After walking for an hour on the grass as soft as a blanket, George dragged his sprained leg and couldn't hold on any longer, and he begged the long-legged snake that had been walking slowly ahead of him: "Shall we rest for a while? It's getting dark, and I'm too tired to walk!"
"It's almost there, don't you smell it? The smell in the wind is different!"
George had already smelled the tempting fruity aroma of the warm evening breeze that made his hungry stomach scream even harder.
"Is it the fruit of the tree of wisdom that you said? It smells good, but I can't see it when I'm old!"
"It's still far away, but the grassy beach that often haunts humans is not far away. β
"How is that possible? It tastes so strong, it's like the fruit is hanging on the tip of my nose!"
"That's why humans can't help but want to eat themβGod forbidden!"
"God doesn't let humans eat it, so can we eat it?" said this, George's saliva was already running down his chin.
"Hey, God isn't here tonight, you can try!" said the long-legged snake, smiling slyly at George. "But let's talk about it first, you want to eat it yourself, I didn't tempt you!"
"Don't you want to eat it? It must taste so good!"
"I'll tell you quietly," said the long-legged serpent, and when George limped closer, he lowered his voice and continued, "I have eaten it a long time ago, when the first fruit grows on that tree!"
"Wow, you're so lucky!"
"I lived on that tree, and at first I didn't know what it was, but I thought it was beautiful and big, and the leaves would shine at night. It was not until the first fruit grew on the tree, and I was seduced by the fragrance and swallowed it in one gulp, that I suddenly realized that it was the most magical and wonderful tree of wisdom in the world!"
"You have eaten that fruit to make you so smart?" asked George, looking at the snake with envy, and longingly.
"Yes, it's as if the fog that fills my head suddenly dissolves, as if my numb heart is suddenly relieved, and the feeling at that moment is very strange, even if the stars of the world suddenly light up for me, I can't be so happy!"
"Oh my God, I want to eat it too!"
But then I felt more sad than I had ever felt before, and you know why, because I found that I was living in a dull world, surrounded by stupid animals who couldn't understand what I was saying, and couldn't understand everything I was doing. So I climbed down the Tree of Wisdom and searched in the Garden of Eden, until I found a man who looked very much like God, a man and a woman, but they were as ignorant and stupid as the animals: they had no fur or scales like the animals, but they were not ashamed, they could not burrow and build nests like the animals, they could only sleep in the open without shelter, but they were still content! It really hurts me, and I wonder why God is so great, He created human beings in His own image, but why did He make them live so ridiculously? Isn't he humiliating himself by doing this?"
"You think a lot, but don't I see you're naked?"
"Where am I naked, take a closer look!"
When George saw that the long-legged snake was annoyed, he quickly fixed his eyes on his strange bodyβoh, he had smeared a thick layer of mud on his body, so that no one could see what he was.
"Aren't you uncomfortable to wrap yourself in this dirty, smelly mud?"
"It's better to be uncomfortable than to be naked, that's the difference between wisdom and ignorance!"
"I don't think it's okay, I feel sorry for you!"
The long-legged snake glared at George fiercely, and he twisted his body harder to walk faster in front of him.
"It's okay for you to slow down, my feet hurt so much!"
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
I don't know how long I walked, but the snake's anger seemed to have subsided, but he said to George again: "It's strange to say, where did you come from? It's amazing that you can understand what I say! But I have lived in the Garden of Eden for so long, and I have never seen you!"
"I want to ask you, my mind is full of questions, but I can't remember anything! But one thing I'm sure of is that I didn't live here before!"
"Who taught you to speak, do you remember?"
"Can't remember!"
At this moment, Zeus must be very sad if he heard George say this.
Hearing this, the long-legged snake suddenly stopped, he looked at George dumbfounded, and muttered, "Is there another tree of wisdom in this world?"
"Chances are, you've been living in this garden and haven't been outside!"
"Haha!" George's words made the snake inexplicably excited, and he jumped to his feet and shouted in joy, "So, you have committed the same sin as I do!"
"I have neither stolen nor killed anyone!" said George, who hastily argued that he had stolen more, but he could not remember it now.
"To eat from the tree of wisdom is to commit original sin, a sin more unforgivable than stealing and murdering!"
"Why? The fruit grows on the tree, and it is only right for you to eat it, what kind of crime is this?"
"That's what God prescribes, anyway!"
"What is the original sin?"
"It's the fruit you eat, and once it exists in your life, even if it's just a small piece of it, you've sinned against it!"
"I still can't figure out how a fruit can be associated with sin, the God you are talking about is so weird!"
"Haha, you dare to say that about him, aren't you afraid that he will punish you if he hears it?"
"You also ate the fruit, did he punish you?"
"He just hasn't found out yet. β
"Oh, well, I'll keep it a secret for you! So don't tell him what I said!"
Seeing that Dura had already thrown Zeus into the golden carriage, Grandpa David let out a long breath.
Before that breath had completely dissipated, he was already sitting in the shade of a thick Roman pine tree on the banks of the Tiber. He always had the thick, illustrated Bible in his hand.
Now there was no one here, and there was silence and the wind blew from time to time by the river, and he was buried in the most mysterious and greatest book, and everything that happened inside and outside the gladiatorial arena seemed to have nothing to do with him, and the noisy noises and chaotic and terrifying scenes never reached his ears or saw in his eyes.
Grandpa David raised a hand and gently placed it on the open page, and there was a wonderful and realistic painting on it, which was slowly moving, slowly changing. When Grandpa David put his hand on the top of the painting and tapped it gently, a round of yellow full moon appeared there.
The moonlight flowed down like water, entrapping the long-legged snake and the fat brown rat that walked deep in the forest, and plading them with a dreamy yellow outline.
The forest is sparse, so you can see the silver path that winds through it, leading to a grassy beach that is now reflected in the sparkling waves. There, a man and a woman were chasing and frolicking, both naked, but because it was night, they could only be seen in general form.
Suddenly, the woman who was running up stood up, she twitched the tip of her small nose, and took a deep breath: "It smells so good," she said, taking the man's hand, "While God is not here tonight, let's go closer and take a look at the tree, shall we?"
"But God is everywhere, he is invisible but there is a god, although he is silent but there is a spirit, you and I go against his will, even if there is night to cover us, he will definitely be able to perceive it!" The man took the woman's hand and gently coaxed her.
When he saw the man and the woman, the long-legged snake quickened his pace, and he threw himself at the woman's feet like a gust of wind, and said to her with a sizzle: "I have done what I have said, and I have brought the living creature for the test." God told you that if you eat the fruit, you will die, and I tell you that eating it will only make you become like God! You only listen to God, but you don't believe me, the witness who has eaten the fruit, then well, let this mouse prove it for me!"
So saying, the snake ran across the grassy beach and plunged headlong into the dark blue pond behind it.
He went and plucked the fruit of the tree. The woman excitedly told the man that she knew that the tree of wisdom was growing on the other side of the pond.
"This rat he's found is a nuisance!" the man said with disgust, glaring at the fat George.
George was frightened by his expression and didn't dare to come any closer. At this moment, he felt wet under his feet, and when he looked down, he realized that he was standing on a grassy beach that grew in the shallow water of the pond.
There are small low trees that look gray-blue when the moon shines.
The small tree is wrapped in tiny soft rattan that glows slightly, and the rattan has small leaves that also glow slightly, and the leaves are covered with round, crystalline dewdrops. It all looked so lovely, and George was momentarily fascinated by it, and began to walk towards one of the small trees.
"It's amazing why they glow!" he said to himself.
"Because the last time God entered this garden, he had swam on this grassy beach a few times, and he liked the red carp in this pond so much that he inadvertently left his aura on the little trees. The woman kindly explained to the little mouse.
"I'm so thirsty that I want to drink the dew, can I?" asked George, staring timidly at the beautiful woman.
"When you've eaten the fruit of wisdom, can you drink this dew again?"
"Why do you want to eat the fruit first?"
"If the fruit is poisonous, these drops of spiritual dew will revive you. β
"What if you drink the dew first?"
"They will further promote the toxicity of the fruit!"
"Oh my God, that's it!"
As they spoke, the long-legged snake had swam back, with a small dark blue fruit in its mouth.
"Smell it, what a sweet smell!" said to George with a smile as soon as he climbed up the grassy beach, spitting out the fruit. Sure enough, as he said, the sweet smell of fruit immediately filled the entire grassy beach.
The woman was about to come over and smell the fruit, but her man stopped her.
"It's so beautiful. George picked it up and looked at it over and over in the moonlight.
"Eat it!" the long-legged snake urged. "You've been hungry for so long!"
George looked up, smiled gratefully at him, and swallowed the fruit in his mouth.
When the fruit entered his body, he found that it had become transparent and glowing!
George watched as the fruit fell into his stomach, and then in a flash there, it was gone!
"Where's the fruit?" he asked the snake, puzzled, but before he could finish speaking, his fat little body floated up.
This frightened George, and he quickly reached out and grabbed the glowing tree beside him, and tore off a long piece of rattan, but he could not control himself, and his body seemed to be sucked by something in the sky, and he had floated high and far into the air.
"How so, long-legged snake, save me!" he cried out, and was about to cry.
"You see, how amazing is that fruit?" said to the man and the woman, pointing to the little mouse in the sky, "and you will fly like God!"
"What are you hesitating about, Adam, come with me!" said the woman, and she dragged the man and ran into the pond.
George noticed that the full moon was getting closer and closer to him, and he was anxious and afraid, and when he looked down again, he saw in the distance that the man and woman had swam to the middle of the wide pond.
On the other side of the pond, there is a beautiful tree swaying in the night breeze, and it is emitting a very attractive aroma.
But the smell of that smell at this moment was so annoying to him. He knew that he was smelling like this right now, and it made him almost disgusted with himself:
"That damn snake with legs, I was deceived by him! He must have become that strange appearance because he ate the fruit of the tree! It also made him hate all the creatures in the garden, so he wanted to tempt them to eat it, and then he might see them become as strange as himself, and he was so bad!"
Thinking of this, George regretted it, and he shouted at the man and woman below with all his might:
"Don't, don't go to the other side, and don't eat the fruit!"
Unfortunately, he was only a mouse, and his cry was very weak, and now he was floating so high above the full moon, how could he hear his shout, a man and a woman?
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
Then Grandpa David reached out again, and clicked on the top of the painting, and the full moon was goneβand the poor fat mouse was gone.
All that is left is a man and a woman standing naked under the Tree of Wisdom, as well as a snake with legs swimming across a pond.
But he had not joined the man and woman, he was quietly fleeing into the depths of a swamp where the stench of rancidity permeated the year, so that he no longer had to worry about smelling the seductive scent of the Tree of Wisdom.
