Although you are a great filial son who touches heaven and earth with filial piety, the gods and the earth are helpless against it. I will now tell you a way: On the 15th day of the seventh month, the day of the monks' self-indulgence, you must put in a basin with a hundred flavors of food, pots, incense oil lozenges, candles, bed bedding, etc., and make devout offerings to the monks of the ten directions, because only by their power can you save your parents and your six relatives from suffering. "After hearing this, he did what the Buddha said. His mother was indeed freed from the suffering of hungry ghosts, and she was born in heaven and enjoyed happiness. Mulian then said to the Buddha, "My mother is free from suffering, can anyone else do it?" The Buddha replied, "Bhikshus, bhikshunis, kings and princes, prime ministers, ministers, three princes, hundreds of officials, and all the people and people, as long as they take the above measures, they will be able to live a long life without illness or suffering. So that the deceased parents are separated from the suffering of hungry ghosts, and the happiness of the living is boundless in the heavens. All Buddha disciples should adhere to this method in order to repay their parents' loving kindness. Since then, the four generations of disciples have happily practiced the Bon method. There are rules for the recitation of the Bon method. Filial piety to men and women who want to report to their parents must burn incense and make offerings every morning and evening from July 1. You can practice the small mida confession or worship the thirty-five Buddhas. Confess the sins of the present parents and the deceased parents. At the same time, the verse is recited: "I am equal to filial piety." Practice the Pure Land Cause. Repay the kindness of the second relatives and repent of the three obstacles. The survivors are blessed with longevity, and the dead are exalted. Do your best to be wronged in the Dharma realm, and live together to raise the country. Then recite the volume of "The Buddha Says the Bon Sutra", recite the "Nan Wu Amitabha Buddha" a hundred times, and finally recite the "Dedication Verse": The obon ritual rituals in the "Orchid Bon Compilation" have: the pure altar around the scriptures, the Lan Bon offering, the monks are fed and other rituals, and there are 21 articles of the "Orchid Bon Covenant", and the monasteries basically follow this. After reading the text, reciting the Heart Sutra, the Mantra of Death, and the "Three Mantras", and finally, from the merit of hosting the Bon Festival to using a red pen on the "meeting list", the altar is opened. After the altar is opened, the confession is mostly carried out according to the rituals contained in the "Confession of Mercy Water". The prayer is a long prayer that lasts until the afternoon and is performed in three times, interspersed with puja offerings and fasting monks before noon. In the evening, the "Pushi" begins, often lasts until late at night, and the activities are mainly based on putting a "flame mouth", and finally burning the Dharma boat, burning the spirit room, and releasing the river lantern. Dharma boat is a commonly used metaphor in Buddhist scriptures, which metaphorically enables sentient beings to cross the sea of suffering in the cycle of birth and death to reach the other side of Nirvana. On the Obon, you can use paper to tie it into a Chinese-style building boat, with oars and rudders. The mourning room is also a papier-mâché model of a whole house, with a car, a horse, a girl, and a servant. There are also new bicycles, radios, color TVs, refrigerators, cars, etc. In short, the dead can do whatever they need and like. River lanterns, also known as lotus lanterns, are generally made in the shape of lotus petals, and candles are lit inside the lanterns. : The purpose of the lantern is to purify the ghosts and lonely souls in the water, according to the traditional saying, the lantern is to guide the way for those who have died unjustly. The lights went out, and the Krathong completed the task of luring the souls across the bridge. Countless river lanterns are put into the slowly flowing river water, dotted with stars, sparkling and shining, vivid and interesting, leaving endless thoughts for the Bon Society. The shops were closed that day, giving way to the ghosts. In the middle of the street, every 100 steps to put an incense case, the incense table offers fresh melons and fruits and a kind of "ghost bun", behind the table there are Taoist priests singing the ghost song that people can not understand, this kind of ritual is called "Shi Ge'er". In addition, the merits cultivated in previous lives are arranged into eight merit pools. Water of Eight Merits Eight Merit Water: Refers to water with eight types of special merits. It also makes eight branches of virtue water, eight flavor water, and eight fixed water. The Pure Land of the Buddha has eight pools of merit, and the water of the eight merits fills it. The so-called eight kinds of special qualities, namely: clear, cold, luscious, light and soft, moisturizing, peaceful, removing **, and nourishing all roots. At the same time, the seven inland seas surrounding Mount Meru are also filled with eight meritorious waters, which have: sweet, cold, soft, light, clean, odorless, drinking does not hurt the throat, drinking does not hurt the stomach, and so on. The Eight Merits of the Eight Merit Water – The Venerable Master Xuanhua taught the Buddha that Sariputta did not know how to ask the Buddha for the Dharma, so he said to him, 'There is a Seven Treasure Pond in the Land of Bliss, and this pool is natural and not man-made, hence the name Seven Treasure Pool. The pool is filled with water of eight merits, which have eight merits: (1) Cool; That is, the meaning of warmth and coolness. If, after a person goes down to the pool, he thinks it will be hot and if he wants it to be cool, this is an incredible merit. (2) cleanliness; The water in the world only gets dirtier and dirtier the more you wash, but when you take a bath in the Qibao Pool, not only will the water not be dirty, only the more you wash, the cleaner and softer, the water is like milk, smooth and comfortable, this is also a kind of touching the dust, but this touch is very subtle, and there is no more subtle feeling than this. (3) luscious; You don't need to drink this water, as long as you use it to wash your body, your body and mind will feel sweet. When I lived in Kwan Yin Cave in Hong Kong, there was also a sweet spring in the cave. One day, after eating noodles at my place, one of my disciples drank some spring water, and she asked me in amazement, 'Is there sugar in the spring water?' I said, 'No.' Then she asked: 'How can it be so sweet?' I said, 'This is the nectar water of Avalokiteshvara for you to drink.' When she heard this, she was overjoyed. When she saw that my robe was in tatters, she made me two new robes, which I thought might be because she had drunk sweet water. (4) light; This water is not heavy but light, and is very soft. (5) moisturizing; Moist is soft, luster is shiny. A dirty person can be washed clean, and even if you are black, you can become a white person. Therefore, after taking a bath, there is a ** on the body. (6) Anhe; After bathing with this water, the body and mind are peaceful and peaceful, without a temper, no open flame, and no troubles. Because of peace, even if someone scolds you, you won't lose your temper; If someone beats you, do you think it doesn't matter if you are beaten by someone? Make peace with everyone, look! How good is that. (7) Except **; If one bathes in the water of the Eight Merits of the Seven Treasure Pools, he does not drink water and does not feel hungry, and he does not need to drink milk or eat bread, then Elysium is wonderful! (8) Grow the roots; After using this water, the roots of the people can be purified; The blind can regain their sight, and the deaf can regain their hearing; If the nose is not ventilated and the aroma is not known, wash it with this water, and it will be ventilated, no matter what kind of nose disease, can it be cured?
