The M82A1 has been equipped with the military or police forces of at least 30 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Italy, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Spain, and Turkey. The pen & fun & pavilion www.biquge.infoM82A1 is also widely used as a civil .50 caliber shooting competition, for shooting competitions at 1000 yards (911 meters) and beyond.

M82A1 semi-automatic sniper rifle with a short barrel recoil principle and semi-automatic firing mode. The principle of the short recoil of the barrel was developed by the famous firearms designer John M. Browning, and Barrett improved this principle to make it suitable as an automatic principle for shoulder-fired weapons.

The M82A1 comes with its own mechanical sight and can also be fitted with an optical sight. The original gun was equipped with Barrett's 10x scope, while the Marine Corps used the same 10x Unertl scope as the M40A1.

The M82A1 can be quickly disassembled into three parts: the upper receiver, the lower receiver and the bolt frame. The disassembly pins are located on the right side of the receiver, one in front of the magazine and the other near the bottom plate of the butt. The upper and lower casings are the main part, and in order to ensure their strength and wear resistance, high-carbon steel materials are selected. The lower receiver connects the bipod, gunner's baseplate and grip, which includes the bolt components and the main spring mechanism. The upper receiver mainly consists of the barrel part, that is, the barrel, the barrel re-entry spring and the buffer. Welded to the upper receiver are mechanical sights, optical sight mounts and handles, while the barrel bushing and barrel stop pins are welded to the interior. When fired, the gunpowder gas pushes the bullet forward along the barrel, and at the same time acts on the bottom of the cartridge case, transmitting the thrust to the bolt, and then from the bolt locking protrusion to the barrel joint, and finally through the bolt body to the rear of the bolt frame. This disperses the vibrations generated during firing and avoids damage to the locking mechanism.

In view of the shortcomings of the large weight of the M82A1, Barrett later studied the M82A1LW, that is, the Lightweight M82A1, which is about 2.3kg lighter than the standard M82A1, the upper receiver and bipod are changed to aluminum materials, the weight of the bolt and frame is reduced by about 0.5kg, and the muzzle brake and some small parts are made of titanium alloy.

The recoil of the Barrett M82A1 is very small, because part of the recoil energy acts on the backward movement of the barrel, bolt and bolt frame and compression of the recoiling spring, in addition, the gun itself also absorbs part of the recoil energy, but the most important thing is that its efficient muzzle brake reduces most of the recoil, which ensures comfort and accuracy when shooting. There is also a special rubber rear seat cushion at the bottom of the butt, which is said to feel better in recoil than a 12-gauge shotgun, while the recoil is significantly less than that of a 7.62mm caliber rifle. However, the downside of this highly effective brake is that the gunpowder gas ejected from the brake will roll up a large amount of dust and loose particles near the shooter with each bullet fired.

The muzzle brake of the early M82A1 was cylindrical, which was later changed to the V-shaped brake shown in the picture on the right. This V-shaped brake reduces recoil by 69%.

The adjustable bipod of the M82A1 is common to the M60 machine gun, and the grip is common to the M16A2 rifle. The handle is mounted on the handguard and is located in front of the scope. In front of the M82A1 magazine, you can also install a telescopic frame base developed by Barrett Company, which can make the M82A1 stand on a tripod or a vehicle, a boat, etc., and can act as a buffer during the recoil process to prevent the body frame from being damaged.

The M82A1 sniper rifle, also known as "Barrett", has the reputation of "the king of heavy snipers" in the international arms community. The total length is 1448 mm, the caliber is 12.7 mm, the gun weighs 12.9 kg, the maximum range is 1830 meters (the current effective range has increased from 2500 yards after the use of 416 model bullets, that is, about 2300 meters), the price is more than 3.2 million Taiwan dollars (about 800,000 yuan), and the price of each bullet is 800 Taiwan dollars (about 200 yuan). Each set of M82A1 sniper rifles includes special sniper scopes, M33 standard rounds, and M8 armor-piercing rounds. Compared with ordinary sniper rifles, the M82A1 has two major advantages: one is high lethality. Not only can it shoot people, but it can also destroy high-value targets such as light armored vehicles, radars, ammunition dumps, and aircraft. The U.S. Marine Corps used Barrett to destroy Iraqi artillery command vehicles and armored personnel carriers. The second is the long range, the gun has a range of up to 2 km, and the bullet can easily penetrate the armor of an armored vehicle at a distance of 1 km. In the sniper duel, the range of the gun becomes a key factor in determining victory or defeat, and even life and death. Fold M82A2
