Chapter 585: Waning Moon
In the middle of the night, the waning moon rises from behind the mountain, and the silver light spreads over the lake. Strings of bubbles emerge silently from the bottom of the lake, and then the light and shadow on the surface of the lake begin to change, gradually transforming into a gate. The door slowly opened, splitting the silver light from the surface of the lake to the sides, forming a shadow that reached the shore.
Seeing this, Beth and Paul led Joey into the shadows, one left and one right. Then the gate slowly closes, and the silver light fills the surface of the lake again.
......
If it weren't for Beth and Paul's hijacking, Joey wouldn't have stepped into the shadows. It's just two people on the left and one on the right, so he can't struggle, and he can only watch the shadows get closer and closer.
For a moment, he even suspected that his life was at stake. But it was dark in front of him, and then it lit up, and then he realized that he was already in the middle of the pavilions.
Looking up, the surrounding mountains are still ups and downs, but there is an extra layer of sparkling in the line of sight.
"Where is this?"
"Our new home. Beth reacted immediately, "Beneath the surface of the lake." β
Joey looked up again and looked over his head, "Won't anyone find out?"
Paul interjected and explained, "It is only possible unless it is those transcendent beings." However, according to the white robe, these people will not come to this continent for the time being. β
"Including the archwizards of the Northlands?"
"It should be, and even if it's not, don't worry. Paul gestured around, "No one found this place back then, and it probably won't now." β
Joey breathed a sigh of relief, "So, what about your strength?"
"When we left, we chose to leave the fruit here. It's just that we are no longer wizards now, and even if we can invoke the power of the fruit, we can't use its full power. β
As they spoke, two rays of light rose from an attic and flew towards them.
This made both Paul and Beth breathe a sigh of relief, and Beth explained softly with a happy face: "We don't dare to be too proactive, because we don't know if they still remember us and if they will accept us again."
The slightest mistake may provoke their counterattack, so you can only wait passively. Thankfully, they still seem to have some sort of connection with us. β
As he spoke, two clouds of light and shadow had flown near, swirling around Paul and Beth respectively. From time to time, I want to blend in with them, but I can't find a way.
This made Paul and Beth sigh in unisonβ
Joey asked, "What's wrong?"
"Now we are just two mortals, and we no longer have the ability to incorporate them into our bodies. At least, there is no way in the short term. Paul sighed, "Don't worry, I've found a solution." β
"What's the solution?"
"Become a mage. β
Beth turned her gaze from the fruit to Paul, "Mage?"
"Yes, mage, this may be our only way out. Become a mage and reconnect with magic. I don't think it's difficult, after all, we have the fruit.
I know what you're worried about, but we have to take the risk. If we remain mortals, how long do you think we can live?
What does this time mean to us? When death strikes again, will we be able to wake up again, and even if we wake up, how much does it have to do with who we are now?
Moreover, what I regard as a treasure may not be much in the eyes of the Great Wizard. β
"Do you have a basis?"
"Yes, there is more than one map. Someone wants to dedicate the map to the Great Wizard and wants to get his protection. But in exchange for a very disdainful reply - get out!"
Hearing this, Beth couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Paul smiled and continued, "There are many signs that the Grand Wizard really doesn't care. Actually, that's what worries me the most. If he cares, we have a chance of being sheltered.
But he didn't care. β
Joey shook his head, "No, he cares! He cares about you, not the fruit you consider treasured." Come to think of it, why did he say that on the ship?
If you think about it, why did he send the white-robed people here, and this inexplicable expedition, and the growing number of alien wizards appearing here.
He cares about things that are different from what we care about. β
Joey sighed, "It's likeβI care most about Beth's well-being, and then you." Worried about you, more for fear that Beth will be hurt because of it.
Actually, I think the same should be true of the Great Wizard. He doesn't care about the fruit of your hands, he doesn't care about your lives, but there may be other reasons why the Grand Wizard will take refuge for you.
It's like β he suddenly appeared on the boat and guided you here.
Don't rejoice too soon, I think your biggest concern right now is prying eyes from other directions. But how do we return, and how do we seek refuge?"
Paul was silent for a moment, "As long as I can go back, it will not be difficult to obtain asylum." Whether it's running to Moon Reflecting City or joining the White Robe, it should be able to keep us safe.
But I didn't really know how to get back, and I didn't think I would really get anything out of it. I just didn't want to have regrets, so I chose to give it a try. β
Paul looked up at the mountains outside, as if there were countless peeping eyes looking at it. When he came, he was relaxed, so he naturally didn't worry about the prying eyes of others. Now that he has a heavy treasure, the whole person has become uneasy.
Joey thought for a moment, "You don't have to go back, hide here for the time being, and leave the outside to me first." β
Beth blinked and hesitated slightly, "-I'll go back with you, the fruit will be here for the time being." β
"No! you're just waiting here. I said it β there's me out there. β
