Chapter 20 Fabs

After all, the annual aid funds from the United Nations to China have increased from tens of millions of dollars in 73 years, when BETA first came to the earth, to 2 billion dollars in 80 years. Pen & Fun & Pavilion www.biquge.info

Although the $2 billion aid is free of charge, in fact, China's obligations far exceed the amount of aid.

As far as the European theater is concerned, annual military spending has soared to more than $3 trillion. Among them, the United States wants to give about 1 trillion US dollars in aid to the European region every year, of which loan aid accounts for 80%, but there is still up to 200 billion US dollars in free aid!

Therefore, Europe is the pro-son of the United States and the United Nations, which is controlled by the United States!

The number of betas contained in the Chinese battlefield is not less than the number of betas in the European battlefield. The amount of free aid received is only one percent of the European battlefield!

In a word......

At present, even if the United Nations is biased, it is still milking China. Milk Europe uses a bucket to remove milk, and milk China is similar to dripping, one drop or two drops in milk.

But don't dare not milk!

If there is trouble on China's side, it is not a matter of China alone, but of Eurasia and Africa, and there may be pills!

Every year, the amount of free aid amounts to $2 billion.

Therefore, it is impossible for "Drone War" to be hacked with such a small share of the overseas box office.

After the box office revenue was received, it quickly turned into an order - Fairchild Semiconductor transferred a 4-inch wafer fab for $150 million, and sold it to China in its entirety.

Originally, the US imperialists were not for sale, fearing that advanced technology would be mastered by the republic. However, the ambassador of the Republic to the United States tried to persuade the United States imperialism with the righteousness of anti-BETA. Moreover, 4-inch wafer factories are already a technology to be eliminated in the United States, while China currently has a large number of 3-inch wafer factories. Even if the 4-inch fab is not transferred, it will not be long before China itself can upgrade to a 4-inch fab.

In the end, the fab was approved by the U.S. government and the China Securities Regulatory Commission to export to China.

At the same time, the Chinese Embassy in the United States also inquired about Intel Corporation.

Well, there is indeed such a company in this world...... More than 10 years ago, Fairchild resigned from a group of employees to found Intel Corporation, and Fairchild is the majority shareholder of Intel Corporation.

In this time and space, Intel has had a bad time, and it was founded not long ago, and there was no blowout of personal computer consumption. On the contrary, the human population continues to decline because of the BETA landing on Earth. The microcomputer market is sluggish, and a large number of microcomputer companies founded in the 70s, including Apple computers, have hit the streets, not to mention other private computers.

And because of the fact that BETA came to Earth, IBM was also granted special exemption from antitrust lawsuits. Therefore, the computers made by IBM, with their own chips, their own operating systems, and all kinds of software written by themselves, other companies want to make this money, no way!

As for Fairchild, it has already shown its decline in the 60s, and it is very difficult to operate now. Being able to sell an old production line that had been depreciated for several years for $150 million was a windfall.

You know, it only cost more than 200 million US dollars to invest in this production line, and the depreciation and depreciation costs have been discounted for several years. Therefore, if you sell it now, Fairchild will definitely make money on the financial account. At least, tens of millions of dollars more in depreciation were earned.

As for buying the production line in China, it will definitely not lose money.

The 4-inch production line, after being bought, can be installed and put into production as soon as 1982, and a production line can produce 30,000 wafers per month, and 360,000 wafers a year.

Wafers are cut into transistors and processed into chips, and often one wafer can make multiple chips. Therefore, it is conservatively estimated that the 4-inch wafer production line can bring 700,000 chips of new production capacity every year.

To put it simply, wafers are the raw materials of the semiconductor industry, first wafers, then transistors, and only integrated circuits can be integrated without transistors.

In the semiconductor industry, the larger the wafer size, the better. Bigger means more transistors can be processed.

In addition, it is the size of the transistor, and the smaller the transistor, the better.

Smaller means more transistors can fit in the same area, increasing the number of transistors to improve performance.

Other than that, it's about designing better chips.

At present, the wafer determines the output and cost of the transistor, and the larger the wafer, the lower the cost of producing the transistor, and the greater the output.

In addition, the process, which is the scale of etching on the wafer. For example, how many microns and how many nanometers of process determines how small the transistor can be. This scale, naturally, is as small as possible.

The 4-inch wafer factory, although not the most advanced, is also dozen. After all, when Intel manufactures 8086 CPUs, it uses wafers, even 2-inch ones!

Of course, the 8086 is built on a 3-micron process, so it can accommodate 29,000 transistors.

At present, the domestic process is not even 3 microns, but 5 microns. However, 5 microns doesn't hurt either, and the most transistors are a bit larger. Besides, who stipulates that the chip is a single core, if the single core is not good, it will be multi-core. If two is not enough, there will be four, if four is not enough, there will be eight, and if eight cores are not enough, there will be 10, 12, 16, 32, and 64 cores...... It's always going to be enough!

In short, the fab is more urgent than the processing technology.

After all, the wafer factory determines the size of the production capacity, and the production capacity is too small, and the process is useless no matter how advanced it is!

Of course, the price of the 4-inch production line is not cheap, almost the cost price of a new production line.

Let's assume that a fab invests $200 million and depreciates over 5 years, with a depreciation of $40 million per year. At 5 years, it has been depreciated, which means that it is financially worth 0!

Fairchild's production line has been depreciated for 4 years, which means that it is worth only $40 million on Fairchild's internal books. Now, it can be sold for $150 million, and most of Fairchild's shareholders are happy.

The domestic import of this wafer factory is also profitable!

Because, now that China is vigorously developing the semiconductor industry, what is urgently needed is the most basic wafer factory. If you design your own production line, it's not impossible. However, not so fast......

The introduction of production capacity can save a little time, which is also extremely important for the Republic!
