In 1941, under the heavy encirclement and suppression of the Japanese Kwantung Army, the First Route Army of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Allied Army suffered heavy losses, and the troops were reduced to the first detachment of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Allied Army, with Kim Il Sung as the detachment leader, and in the same year he led his troops to withdraw to the territory of the Soviet Union, and in 1942, he served as the captain and battalion commander of the first battalion of the Teaching Brigade of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Allied Army (also known as the 88th Infantry Reconnaissance Brigade of the Second Far Eastern Front of the Soviet Union).
