Chapter Fifty-Three: The Past Years
The freedom to do whatever you want in life is a fire that rises in the dark night.

"Sister Ruori, I'm. back."
Every time Nik came home from school, the iconic Opening sounded, and I curled the corners of my mouth when I heard the youthful tone, "Here." ”
The late summer sun made a gorgeous turn on the keys, with the afterglow of scorching summer, slightly dazzling.
It was early summer last year when Nik first settled in this remote English town, and it's been more than a year since then.
Life goes round and round, and everything passes quietly and quickly.
I spent the first six months working for a company and at the same time learning piano and composing my own music, and now I'm a freelancer writing music full-time and selling to artists who are famous or not, to support me and Nik.
I have a rule of writing that I never sign my name and don't want them to mention my name on their published albums or singles, in other words, to be willing to go behind the scenes and not see the light of day. Because of this, many artists who have not become famous are also happy to gain fame and fortune, and the remuneration given to me as a gunslinger is quite considerable, and gradually, I have accumulated a good reputation as a composer gunner, and more and more artists have asked me to compose, sometimes even using my tunes for lyrics.
The days are light, but not bitter. I think that's all I was trying to do in the life I fought for, comfortable and free.
The young man jumped into the sunlight of the room, sat down next to me, and gave me a warm hug.
"Why did you come back so early today?" I patted Nik on the shoulder and said softly, for some reason, whenever I saw his pink cheeks, my heart would always become soft.
"Because I miss my sister." Nik buried it in my neck and said coquettishly.
I couldn't help laughing, I was still so childish in the fifth grade, I let go of him, pretending to be displeased, "Oh...... So you skipped class? Looks like someone doesn't want to have dinner tonight. ”
"Not really." Nik stuck out his tongue, "I'll make dinner today." ”
"Are you sure?" I looked at him with my hands on my chest, "Forget it, I don't want to be poisoned by you." ”
"Don't underestimate me," Nik jumped off the piano bench and walked to the door, but turned his head again and grimaced at me on the doorframe, "Actually, Sister Ruori's cooking is not delicious. Before he could finish speaking, he ran away with a smile.
"You ......" I reacted and chased after me, "Say what, say it again......"
When I first met Nik, he was an indifferent little boy with clear eyes, but he rejected people. But I was still a child at heart, longing for care, and when he threw himself into my arms and cried for the first time to call me Sister Ruori, I promised Bella in my heart that I would help her find that happy and innocent child, and do everything I could to protect his happiness.
I never told him the cause of Bella's death, because I didn't want to let the 12-year-old be bound in the shadow of hatred, and second, because it should be my grudge and torture, and I shouldn't let him bear it.
I leaned against the kitchen door and stared at the boy's intent, his sleeves rolled up as he expertly chose the dishes, and the smile on my lips melted with a serious look.
"Sister Liuori, we have a new teacher today." Nik turned on the faucet and washed the finished dish over and over again.
"Oh, really?" I walked over, took the vegetables he had washed, put them on the board and began to cut them, "Which subject is the teacher?" ”
"English."
The kid was very sensible, and immediately went to the refrigerator to get a few eggs, beat them into a bowl and stirred, "The new teacher is a man, very young, named Ray, and he is Chinese. ”
"Oh?" I turned my head, a little surprised, "A Chinese teacher taught you English?" ”
"Hmm." Nik handed the stirred egg next to me, his arm propped up on the chopping board, "Today he told us to come back early, and we have to hand in our homework tomorrow morning." ”
"What is it?" I asked casually, and when I saw Nik turn on the gas and pour the oil into the pot, I couldn't help but instruct, "Be careful, beware of getting burned." ”
Fortunately, this kid has strong independent ability, and after learning how to stir-fry and cook once, he couldn't help him, he put the cut vegetables into the pot and stir-fried, "It's an article, my family." ”
My heart tightened, and the movements in my hands couldn't help but stagnate.
It's not a topic to be touched, and I'm afraid it reminds him of Bella, who used to wake up crying in the middle of the night during the first few months of living with me, and Bella's departure is a wound that the little boy never erases.
Nik saw the unusualness on my face, turned off the gas, turned me and said softly, "Sister Ruori, I miss my grandmother very much, but I know that if I can't be as strong as a man, my grandmother will be disappointed, so don't worry, I won't cry because of her departure anymore, and I won't let Sister Ruori worry about me anymore......"
Looking at the childish young man in front of him, the black uniform was worn squarely, his serious eyes looked like a responsible look, I smiled, and stroked his little cheeks with some relief, and my heart swelled with sadness for a moment, but it was also mixed with inexplicable joy.
"No, it's going to burn!"
When we reacted, we hurriedly lifted the lid of the pot, but fortunately it was not burnt.
"Okay, I'll do it, you go and finish your homework, so as not to delay until late and affect your sleep." I laughed and kicked him out of the kitchen.
After dinner, Nik was upstairs doing his homework, and I sat on the sofa in the living room downstairs flipping through a sheet music, and the night flowed in silence, only to be interrupted by the sudden ringing of the doorbell.
I couldn't help but be stunned, looking at the wall clock on the side, the time crossed 8 o'clock, so late, who could it be?
The other party seemed to be very cultivated, and the frequency of the doorbell was not slow, but it was strange that in the more than a year we had lived here, no one had ever disturbed our lives, and no one knew my address except for Mr. Beder who had visited me a few times, let alone at night.
I wondered, isn't it......
After thinking about it for a moment, if it was really any of them, even if I didn't open the door, I couldn't hide from it, I took a deep breath to calm the sudden acceleration of my heartbeat, and got up to open the door.
The door opened, and I was surprised by the figure standing in the night.
Brief memories were picked up and spread out before my eyes, and counting it, this should be my second meeting with her.
A glimpse of the dance party in the past, this beautiful but indifferent woman in a long skirt who had no friendship with me, and now when I came to visit in the middle of the night, I looked at the slender figure in a beige trench coat outside the door, and forgot to react for a long time.
"Hello, Miss Furcummings." She smiled lightly, and the elegant taste on the corners of her eyebrows and lips was very similar to that of her father.
When I came back to my senses, I saw her coming alone, so I leaned sideways, "Miss Badel, please come in." ”
