Chapter 13: The Red Turban Girl
In an abandoned warehouse in Inglewood, a southern suburb of Chicago, a dozen or so stout black men gather around a campfire, drinking, chatting, making noise, and laughing. If you get close enough to them, you will find that the murderous aura on their faces is not completely hidden and the terrifying scars that are inadvertently exposed, all prove that this is an extremely dangerous group of people.
A little more inside this group of dangerous elements, on a relatively intact leather sofa, leaning on a sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl, her skin between black and brown, her slightly curly hair just shoulder-length, and the big earrings of unknown material were faintly visible in the green silk. On a standard melon seed face, two groomed thin eyebrows are slightly frowned, and the big eyes with charm and sorrow make people both love and fear. Under the beautiful nose, the slightly thick red lips add three points of sexiness. The devilish figure is set off by a tight leather jacket, which can't help but make people's blood rush.
A pleasant phone rang from the girl's blouse, and two slender fingers deftly took out a mobile phone from the pocket held up by the plump jade peak under the leather coat.
After answering the phone, the girl took out a red scarf from behind her leather pants and tied it in front of her forehead, and walked out with her long legs. "Guys, it's time to get to work."
The big men who were playing immediately dropped the things in their hands, put away the cynical expressions engraved on their faces, and followed the appearance of the cold and glamorous girl, and tied a red scarf on their foreheads one after another.
Behind a lamppole on a street corner, two teenagers, one tall and one short, were looking at the two groups of people not far away, who were nervously holding each other.
"Derek, do you think Sister Jenny can come over? I can see my uncle in Johnny's group, if there is a fight......" A pair of stocky young men with thick eyebrows almost joined together said anxiously to the older child next to him, flashing his big worried eyes.
"Don't worry, fatty, she'll definitely come." It was fourteen-year-old Derek who spoke. Ross. The ten-year-old child, nicknamed "Fatty," is named Anthony. Davis.
The Sister Jenny in their mouths is almost unknown to everyone in this community. In addition to being recognized as Inglewood's most beautiful pearl, there is also a great father. At least that's what her family, and most of Inglewood's poor, would think.
Jenny. Ford's father, Jeff. Ford, is a "legend" among African-Americans in the city. He was the biggest mob boss in all of Chicago, with thousands of brothers under his command, and almost all of Inglewood was under his leadership. Although drugs and guns are still rampant under the rule, at least on the surface, it looks like a normal human community. Violence, robbery, and theft on the streets are almost eliminated.
But good things didn't last long, when Jenny was 8 years old. Jeff. Ford is accused of conspiring with al-Qaeda to engage in terrorist activities in the United States. In prison, he was convicted of murder in a murder case the following year. Several counts carry a total of 150 years in prison.
When Jenny's mother got the final verdict, she spent all day in tears, and died a year later. Leaving 17-year-old Wells and 9-year-old Jenny to live together, Jeff left an enviable legacy for his children, although there was little chance of him getting out of prison. Many people persuaded the siblings to leave Chicago and start a new life, but they insisted on staying because it was the place where their father struggled and their home.
The two children with huge wealth were able to survive in this land of sin, one is that most of the people here miss Jeff. Ford's leaders, Aiwu and Wudi, took special care of the siblings. Another reason was that there was a group of brothers who were brave and loyal to Jeff. After the Boss is arrested, they even have the opportunity to become the leaders of gangs that have been split into large and small gangs. In the end, they chose to continue to protect Jeff's children.
Jeff. With the fall of Ford, the entire Inglewood forces were redivided. Idling youth have reappeared on the streets, often violently clashes for an incomprehensible, even ridiculous reason.
When Jenny's brother was 14 years old, he was killed by a stray bullet in a conflict that had nothing to do with him. After attending her brother's funeral, this sturdy girl kept her former father's subordinates and now guarded her uncles.
After much deliberation, Jenny told them firmly that she was going to form a "ceasefire" group. The main task is to mediate street clashes, prevent them from escalating and avoid casualties caused by the use of weapons. They do not occupy any side of the conflict, do not act as police informants, and do not challenge gangs, drug dealing, or other criminal activities. They only stepped in at a critical moment to get both sides to take a step back.
The two groups of people on the street suddenly became nervous for some reason. They all drew their guns and pointed at the crowd on the other side, and some of the people who passed by the street did not show frightened expressions, at most they only pulled a little distance from them and continued to move forward. The frequent violence seems to have numbed the people here. It's a numbness to violence, or maybe a numbness to life.
In this winter day in the "Windy City", it seems that some people in the crowd with guns have already attached their fingers to the trigger because of the cold wind. A bloody conflict seemed inevitable.
The roar of a motor on the street corner caused the opposing sides to look sideways, and more than a dozen riders wearing red scarves suddenly appeared in front of people's eyes.
"Great, Sister Jenny, they're here." The chubby teenager patted his chest and said with palpitations. The tall girl glanced at the "fat man" with some disdain, and Sister Jenny had never disappointed them.
Derek. Ross and Anthony, nicknamed "Fat Man". Davis is a peripheral member of the Ceasefire, and their job is to report any possible violent clashes on the street to Jenny, the head of the group. After the successful mediation of the "Ceasefire" group, the beautiful sister Jenny will buy them a lot of gifts. Of course, there are many children like Derek and Anthony who serve this organization.
The two groups of people on the opposite side looked at the motorcycle riders wearing red scarves and speeding up. Some people secretly breathed a sigh of relief, some people hid the fanaticism on their faces and were afraid, some people had an indifferent expression, and some people greedily stared at the Miaoman figure of the leading rider, and swallowed the saliva that was rapidly secreted in their mouths.
Chirping! Chirping! Chirping! …… After a harsh grinding sound, a leather-clad girl lifted her slender legs tightly wrapped in leather pants and walked towards everyone, the cold wind blowing her slightly curly brown hair, and casually hanging the sunglasses on the bridge of her nose on the red scarf in front of her forehead. For! For! For! The leather boots emitted a breathtaking magic sound on the road, and with the ********'s fiery figure, everyone had a look of despair, and when a pair of eyes full of desire swept behind the girl, a murderous man, they gradually turned back to Qingming.
When the girl saw the leader of the two groups of people, she turned her head and whispered a few words to a calm and expressionless man who followed her closely, and then turned around and walked towards her locomotive. Obviously, these two little-known little bosses don't need to go out on their own.
"Derek, Anthony, get in the car." The sharp-eyed Jenny had already seen the two lying behind the street lamp. The two children skillfully stepped onto the locomotive one after the other.
The three of them stopped in front of a well-known western restaurant in the community, and the waiter was obviously familiar with the group and greeted them warmly.
"Old rules?" The waiter asked Jenny. Jenny looked at the two children and nodded, and made a business-as-usual expression with the waiter.
On the table full of sumptuous dishes, "Fat Man" Anthony stuffed the cut steak into his mouth while muttering something to the two.
Derek doesn't talk much, and occasionally glances at the little fat man who talks non-stop. Obviously, he is more interested in the food on the table.
Jenny, who doesn't eat much, looks like she's full. While holding a napkin in his hand, he elegantly wiped the corners of his sexy mouth, and looked at the two children beside him with a smile.
These two teenagers are her two favorite children in this community. They are pure by nature, and it is Jenny's inseparable nostalgia for this place, she once let go of the various gang leaders not to harass the two children, and after tasting the pain of losing their loved ones many times, Jenny especially cherishes these two children who regard them as family.
And she's also the number one fan of the two of them, don't underestimate the chubby Anthony, he's the most talented basketball talent in the entire community after Derek.
Every time they played, Jenny would find time to cheer them on. "Derek, when is your Broncos going to play?" Derek. Rose, hearing Jenny's question, hurriedly swallowed the food in his mouth, probably swallowed a little violently, his choked little face turned red, and took a glass of white water handed by his sister and hurriedly poured it.
"Reggie told me that we had a match with a team from the western suburbs this Saturday." Derek said unhurriedly. "Oh, Saturday." Jenny thought about it for a moment and thought that there was nothing going on that day, so she should be able to go and watch the fight. "Whether that team is strong or not, don't be like before, people don't have no suspense." Derek. The amateur team that Rose is part of is coached by his second brother, Reggie, and most of the players on the team are children from the Inglewood community.
Originally, the strength of the team was very good, plus Derek. The presence of Rose's talented guard makes it difficult for them to match in the whole of Chicago. "This, Reggie didn't say." Derek, as ever, doesn't talk much but is very clear.
Brenda knitted a scarf on the couch in the living room while looking at the clock above her from time to time. was secretly complaining that his youngest son did not come home on time, when he heard a familiar locomotive sound outside the house.
The figure that was out of shape because of the birth of four children has become much lighter. Leaning in front of the door and looking at the two people from far and near, he affectionately invited Jenny, who was driving the locomotive, but the other party politely declined. watched the youngest son walk towards him, and then glanced at the girl who disappeared into the night. What a good girl!
