Chapter 113 Mid-Autumn Festival Moon Appreciation

For several days in a row, in addition to practicing Tai Chi with Luo Xianjie on the playground of the county No. 1 Middle School in the morning, after breakfast, he accompanied Luo Xianjie to play in the beautiful places around Jiangyang County. During this period, Yue Haohan called Deng Xuanfa and told Deng Xuanfa that he had something at home, and he would go to work at the headquarters in the township after the Mid-Autumn Festival. On October 3rd, the lunar calendar is August 15, the Mid-Autumn Festival, starting from the morning, Yue Haohan's mother Wang Sulan and father Yue Yulin are preparing to pick up Luo Xianjie to spend the Mid-Autumn Festival at home.

The fifteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar is the middle of autumn of the year, so it is called the Mid-Autumn Festival. In the Chinese lunar calendar, the year is divided into four seasons, and each season is divided into three parts: Meng, Zhong and Ji, so the Mid-Autumn Festival is also called Mid-autumn. The moon on the night of August 15 is rounder and brighter than the full moon of other months, so it is also called "moon night" and "August Festival". On this night, people look up at the bright moon in the sky like jade, and naturally look forward to family reunion. Wanderers who are far away will also take this opportunity to express their feelings of longing for their hometown and relatives. Therefore, the Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as the "Reunion Festival".

In ancient times, our people had the custom of "autumn twilight and sunset". The setting moon is to worship the moon god. In the Zhou Dynasty, every Mid-Autumn Festival night was held to welcome the cold and sacrifice the moon. Set up a large incense case, put moon cakes, watermelons, apples, red dates, plums, grapes and other offerings, of which moon cakes and watermelons are absolutely indispensable. The watermelon should also be cut into lotus shapes. Under the moon, the statue of the moon god is placed in the direction of the moon, the red candle is burned, the whole family worships the moon in turn, and then the housewife cuts the reunion moon cake. The person who cuts it calculates in advance how many people are in the whole family, and those who are at home and those who are in other places must be counted together, and they cannot cut more or less, and the size should be the same. After everyone finished worshipping, they were under the moon, eating offerings, tasting tea, and admiring the moon.

According to legend, the ugly girl of the ancient Qi country had no salt, and when she was a child, she worshiped the moon devoutly, and when she grew up, she entered the palace with superior morality, but she was not pampered. On August 15 of a certain year, the Son of Heaven saw her in the moonlight, thought she was beautiful and outstanding, and later made her the queen, and the Mid-Autumn Festival moon worship came from this. Chang'e in the moon is known for her beauty, so the girl worships the moon and wishes to "look like Chang'e, face like the moon".

In the Tang Dynasty, the Mid-Autumn Festival was quite popular for moon viewing and playing with the moon. In the Northern Song Dynasty, on the night of August 15, all the people in the city, whether rich or poor, young or old, would put on adult clothes, burn incense and worship the moon to express their wishes, and pray for the blessing of the moon god. In the Southern Song Dynasty, the people gave moon cakes to each other to take the meaning of reunion. In some places, there are also activities such as grass dragon dances and pagoda building. Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, the customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival have become more popular; In many places, special customs such as burning incense, Mid-Autumn Festival in trees, lighting tower lanterns, putting sky lanterns, walking the moon, and dancing the fire dragon have been formed.

Today, the custom of playing under the moon is far less prevalent than it was in the past. However, it is still very common to set up a banquet to admire the moon, and people will ask the moon for wine, celebrate a good life, or wish their relatives in distant places to be healthy and happy, and "thousands of miles together" with their families. There are many customs and forms of the Mid-Autumn Festival, but they all carry people's infinite love for life and yearning for a better future.

For dinner, Wang Sulan prepared very richly, Liu Xiaofeng's family, Deng Xuanchang's family, all came over, everyone let Luo Xianjie Luo old man in the first seat, first drank the rice wine made by Wang Sulan, and then the men began to drink white wine again, Luo Xianjie was very happy, and drank a lot of wine, but his face was ruddy, and he was not drunk at all.

After the meal, the sky was clear, the moon as big as a jade plate had risen, and the bright moonlight sprinkled all over the earth, illuminating the outside as if it were day. Yue Yulin and Deng Xuanchang were busy moving the table to the courtyard, and several women put the moon cakes, fruits, dates, walnuts and other things prepared by Wang Sulan on the table; After some were ready, everyone moved the stool outside, ate fruits and moon cakes around the table, drank the autumn tea brought back by Yue Haohan, and chatted in the courtyard to admire the moon.

Yue Haohan saw that everyone had gone to the courtyard to admire the moon, so he went to the study alone, picked up the phone that had just been installed at home not long ago, and paged Cheng Ziying, who was far away in the East China Sea. After hanging up the phone, Yue Haohan sat in the study, picked up a magazine, flipped through it, and waited for Cheng Ziying's call.

After a while, the phone rang, Yue Haohan grabbed the phone with excitement, "Hey", Cheng Ziying's familiar voice came from the other end of the phone, and said, Haohan, is it you? Where are you?

Yue Haohan said, Ziying, it's me, I'm at home, this is the phone at home, the phone was installed at home not long ago, where are you? At work or at home?

Cheng Ziying said, I was in the dormitory of the unit, in the room of the Jiangtan Hotel, just when you paged me, I was with my colleagues in the unit, on the roof platform of the hotel, eating melon seeds and admiring the moon, Sister Wang was joking with me, your boyfriend must also be admiring the moon, I miss you, your pager came.

Yue Haohan said with a smile, we are really "spiritual".

Cheng Ziying on the other end of the phone "giggled" twice and said, "Thousands of miles together". After speaking, he then asked, Haohan, listen to how quiet you are over there, are you at home?

Yue Haohan said, it's very lively, Grandpa Luo also came to Jiangyang, Grandpa Luo, Mom and Dad, Godfather and Godmother, Principal Liu, Teacher Luo, they are all chatting, drinking tea, and admiring the moon in my yard, I am secretly hiding in the study alone to call you. Ziying, have you been busy lately?

Cheng Ziying said, I'm busy to death, I haven't rested since I came back from Jianghan, what about you? How's the bridging going?

Yue Haohan said, not mentioning the matter of building bridges, it will affect the mood!

Cheng Ziying asked, what's wrong? Didn't the funds go to you?

Yue Haohan said that Uncle Han had already approved the funds, two million, but the county wanted to embezzle one million, and the township group was also fighting the idea of leaving one million, and I was worried about it.

Cheng Ziying said, how can those people in your county be like this, they are too bold! If you can't do it, you go to Uncle Han and tell him about this situation, and let him come forward to put some pressure on those people in the county, if you don't believe them, you won't be afraid.

Yue Haohan said, I thought about it, but then I thought about it carefully, it's not good to go to Uncle Han or Chen Wenhao, and I trouble them about big and small things, how will people think of me? You can't let an executive vice governor meddle in a township matter.

Cheng Ziying said, then what do you say? Just let it go, you plant trees and let them pick peaches to eat?

Yue Haohan said, I am going to find Secretary Chen of the county party committee, and we will think of countermeasures and methods together. Ziying, let's not talk about this unhappy thing, I just miss you so much now!

Cheng Ziying said, I miss you too! It's okay to be busy during the day, but I often dream of you at night.

Tong Cheng Ziying chatted on the phone for more than an hour, and after putting down the phone, Yue Haohan poured a cup of tea, moved a stool, and went to the courtyard outside, where her mother Wang Sulan was telling everyone the story of Chang'e running to the moon.

According to legend, in ancient times, there were ten suns in the sky at the same time, the crops were dying, and the people were not able to make a living, a hero named Houyi, with infinite strength, he sympathized with the suffering people, climbed to the top of Kunlun Mountain, carried enough divine power, pulled out the divine bow, shot down more than nine suns in one go, and strictly ordered the last sun to rise and fall on time, for the benefit of the people.

Hou Yi was respected and loved by the people because of this, and Hou Yi married a beautiful and kind wife named Chang'e. In addition to hunting, Hou Yi is with his wife all day long, and people envy this talented and beautiful loving couple. Many people with lofty ideals came to learn from the teacher, and Pengmeng, who was not right-minded, also mixed in.

One day, Hou Yi went to Kunlun Mountain to visit friends and seek Taoism, and happened to meet the Queen Mother who passed by, so he asked the Queen Mother for a package of immortal medicine. It is said that if you take this medicine, you can immediately ascend to heaven and become an immortal. However, Hou Yi was reluctant to leave his wife, so he had to temporarily hand over the immortal medicine to Chang'e for collection. Chang'e hid the medicine in the treasure box on the dresser, but when she didn't pay attention to the medicine, she was seen by the villain Pengmeng, who wanted to steal the immortal medicine and become an immortal.

Three days later, Hou Yi led his disciples out hunting, and Pengmeng, who had a ghost in his heart, pretended to be sick and stayed. Soon after Hou Yi led everyone away, Peng Meng broke into the backyard of Hou Yi's house with a sword in his hand and coerced Chang'e to hand over the immortal medicine. Chang'e knew that she was not Pengmeng's opponent, and when she was in danger, she immediately made a decision, turned around and opened the treasure box, took out the immortal medicine and swallowed it in one gulp. Chang'e swallowed the medicine, and her body immediately floated off the ground, rushed out of the window, and flew into the sky. Because Chang'e was concerned about her husband Houyi, she flew down to the nearest moon in the world and became an immortal.

In the evening, Hou Yi returned home, and the maids cried about what happened during the day. Hou Yi was both shocked and angry, drew his sword to kill the villain, but Peng Meng had already fled, Hou Yi was so angry that he beat his chest, grief-stricken, looking up at the night sky and calling the name of his beloved wife Chang'e, at this time, he was surprised to find that today's moon is exceptionally bright and bright, and there is a swaying figure that resembles Chang'e. He desperately chased after the moon, but he chased three steps, the moon took three steps back, he took three steps back, and the moon took three steps forward, and no matter what, he couldn't catch up.

Hou Yi was helpless, and missed his wife, so he had to send someone to Chang'e's favorite back garden, put incense on the table, put her favorite honey and fresh fruits, and sacrificed to her Chang'e in the Moon Palace. After hearing the news of Chang'e running to the moon and becoming an immortal, the people set up incense tables under the moon one after another, praying for auspiciousness and peace to the kind Chang'e.

Since then, the custom of worshipping the moon during the Mid-Autumn Festival has spread among the people.

After Wang Sulan finished telling the legend of "Chang'e Running to the Moon", Yue Haohan added water to everyone's cup, and at this time, Luo Kangmei opened his mouth and said that about the Mid-Autumn Festival, there is also a legend of "Wu Gang Folding Laurels".

Legend has it that the osmanthus tree in front of the Guanghan Palace on the moon grows luxuriantly, more than 500 zhang high, and there is a person below who is cutting it down all the year round, but every time it is cut down, the place that is cut is immediately closed. For thousands of years, this osmanthus tree can never be cut down. It is said that the name of this tree cutter is Wu Gang, a native of Xihe in the Han Dynasty, who once followed the immortals to the path and went to the heavenly realm, but he made a mistake, and the immortals demoted him to the Moon Palace, and did this kind of futile drudgery every day as a punishment. There is a record in Li Bai's poem that "if you want to cut the laurel in the moon, you will be paid for the cold".

After Luo Kangmei finished speaking, Yue Yulin took the moon cake and said while eating that eating moon cakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival began in the Yuan Dynasty. At that time, the vast number of people in the Central Plains could not bear the cruel rule of the ruling class of the Yuan Dynasty and revolted against the Yuan Dynasty. Zhu Yuanzhang united various resistance forces to prepare for an uprising. However, the officers and soldiers of the court searched very closely, and it was very difficult to transmit information. The military advisor Liu Bowen came up with a clever plan, asking Zhu Yuanzhang to order his subordinates to hide the note containing "Kill the Tartars on August 15" into the cake, and then send people to send it to the rebel armies in various places to inform them of the uprising on the night of August 15. On the day of the uprising, the rebels from all walks of life responded together, and the rebel army attacked the capital of Yuan like a spark.

Soon, Xu Da captured the capital of Yuan, and the uprising was successful. When the news came, Zhu Yuanzhang was so happy that he hurriedly passed down the message, and in the Mid-Autumn Festival every year in the future, let all the soldiers and the people have fun, and the "moon cakes" that secretly transmitted the message when the army was raised that year were rewarded to the ministers as festival cakes. Since then, the production of "moon cakes" has become more and more refined, with more varieties, and the big ones are like discs, which have become a good gift. Later, the custom of eating moon cakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival spread among the people.

After Yue Yulin finished speaking, Luo Xianjie drank tea with a cup, looked at a bright moon in the sky, fell into a distant memory, and said softly, Mr. Yue said that he killed the Tartars on August 15, which reminded me of the Anti-Japanese War period, when I was seriously injured, it was also August 15, the battle that day was very tragic, and finally the bullets on both sides were exhausted, and they began to fight hand-to-hand, I used my Tai Chi moves, and fought out more than a dozen devils, but I was also stabbed three times, lying on the ground and dying, and the moon that night was also so garden, so bright, I lay down, fixed looking at the bright moon, using the Tai Chi breathing method, maintaining a breath, slowly I felt that the moon in the sky was getting redder and bigger, more and more big, I felt that I was no longer in my body, and I was about to fly to the moon, at this time, the follow-up troops came, found me, I was relieved, and then I fainted.

Luo Xianjie's narration seems to bring everyone to the cruel war years, the courtyard is quiet for a while, only the bright moon in the sky is still witnessing the joys and sorrows of the world.

Touching the scene, Yue Haohan chanted a song "Mid-Autumn Festival" by Li Pu in the Tang Dynasty:

When the treasure mirror rises in the sky, the fairy in the clouds is silent;

The round is full of equal colors, and the clouds are thousands of miles bright;

The cunning rabbit falls from the string, and the toad is born in front of him;

The spirit rubs the covenant to work together, and wait for the galaxy to be completely cleared.

After Yue Haohan finished chanting the poem, Luo Xianjie drank tea and said, Haohan, grandpa hopes that you will not be intimidated by the difficulties in front of you at any time, and always maintain a heart to do things for the people, just like I taught you Tai Chi, stand up the backbone of being a man, even if you are poor and lonely, you still have to have an inner pursuit.
