Chapter 35: Red Square, St. Basil's (II)

When I walked into the Church of St. Basil's Ascension, I found that the interior of the church was not as beautiful as the outside, the internal space was not large, the structure was quite complex, and it was far from being as glamorous as it looked from the outside.

Not only that, but there are many people inside the church, and the walls are beautifully decorated with frescoes from the 16th century. If you were in a place where there are few people and there is a lot of light, these murals would have a different taste, but not only are they crowded and the light is very dark, so I didn't really like the few photos I took a few photos.

The only thing that intrigues me is the model of St. Basil's Church inside the church, which is small but delicate, and almost perfectly reproduces the building of St. Basil's Church, affectionately called the Onion Church by those who like it.

Catherine must have seen my disappointment, winked at me and smiled, "Don't you think it's interesting to have such a nine-onion-headed building in the center of the world's largest empire?" ”

I shrugged, "I've heard that there are a lot of people in the West who think of the picture of St. Basil's Church of the Ascension as the Kremlin, and I now feel that the name Onion Church is more appropriate for it." ”

After an hour of walking around the church, at eleven o'clock the church bell rang, and I looked up in the direction from which the bell came from, and the bell came from the Kremlin tower next to the church, and the name of the tower was The-Savior''s Tower, which translates to "Savior's Tower" in Chinese.

The sound of the bell came into the ears one by one, making people stop and have solemn faces. There were many Russian aunts around who crossed their chests and moved their lips slightly, and the whole church was quiet for a while.

Walking out of the church, I bought a hot dog on the side of the street to fill my belly, and the two slices of bread in the morning were not enough to sustain me all morning. Catherine bought a bag of corn kernels at the convenience store and smiled mysteriously at me: "Let's go, I'll take you to see the most interesting things in Red Square." ”

The area of Red Square is not large, only about one-fifth of the ** square, and the ground is all paved with stones, which looks ancient and sacred. Red Square is bordered by the Kremlin to the west, the State Historical Museum to the north, the department store to the east, St. Basil's Cathedral to the south, and the Moskva River.

I stood on Red Square and tried to find an angle to take in all the scenes, but I couldn't find it for a long time, so I had to stand in place and take four photos. My favourite was taking a photo of the front of St. Basil's Church of the Ascension, with the Kremlin on one side and the Gum Department Store on the other, a perfect blend of classical and modern majesty and sophistication.

As soon as I put down the camera, Catherine shoved a small packet of corn kernels into my hand and pulled me to the center of Red Square.

I watched as Catherine took a handful of corn kernels from the pouch and put them in the palm of her hand and crouched down. Before I could ask what it was, there was a fluttering sound of wings overhead, and when I looked up, there were a dozen pigeons, mostly gray and a few white.

The pigeon didn't look too scared, a dozen pigeons flew up to Catherine and tilted their heads to look at Catherine, and a gray pigeon finally couldn't resist the temptation of delicious food, walked up to Ekaterina and pecked a corn kernel in Catherina's palm.

Seeing this, more than a dozen pigeons fluttering their wings and stepped forward, and Catherine looked up at me while constantly taking corn from the small bag and smiled: "How's it, isn't it interesting?" ”

I smiled and squatted down to do the same, and soon there were more and more pigeons in front of me, most of them gray pigeons. Each one looks fat, fat, and looks overnourished, stupid, cute, and cute, and there is no pain in the beak point on the hand when pecking the corn kernels, but it feels itchy, a bit like going to fish therapy.

The small bag of corn kernels was quickly fed, and I clapped my hands and stood up, and the pigeons in front of me fluttered their wings and flew into the sky because of this movement, and Catherine was still crouching on the ground, looking at me with a strange gaze.

I smiled and picked up my camera to capture the scene.

After feeding the pigeons, Ekaterina took me around Red Square again, there were many people in Red Square, there were a few couples taking wedding photos in the corner, and some young Russian couples stood on Red Square and hugged and gnawed.

Every time I pass by these little couples immersed in kisses as if the world is left with each other, I will whisper in Chinese,

"Dog-Day, I wish you all a speedy breakup."

As we passed by the thirteenth couple, Catherine suddenly slapped my arm and pointed ahead, "Hey, your tour group in China." ”

Looking in the direction that Catherine pointed, it was a small tour group, about eleven or twelve people. The tour guide was holding a flag of the Chinese Youth Hostel, and I walked a few steps closer and heard the tour guide introducing Red Square.

"The place where we are now is Russia's Red Square, where Russia holds military parades, and its status in Russia is like that of China. Don't look at Red Square is not as big as **, but the momentum and historical heaviness here are no less than **square. The stones under our feet were five meters deep into the ground in order to withstand the weight of the tank. Okay, where do we look, the Kremlin is in that direction."

The tour group followed the guide and walked away, and I stood there with a smile on my face. Ekaterina patted me on the shoulder, "What fun are you thinking?" “

I smiled and said, "I was thinking about Red Square, which is the size of three football fields, how did you photographers during the Russian military parade get a big picture of Red Square, I always thought that Red Square would be big before I came to Moscow." ”

Catherine said seriously: "This is the center of Moscow, the center of Russia, and the place that most represents the country in the hearts of all Russians. There are magnificent red brick walls and towers, each of which is topped by a red star that represents Russia in the direction of Red Square. As a Russian, every time I walk on it, I can hear the echo of the neat footsteps of soldiers in snow caps during the parade. Although there is no such thing as Huaxia ** Square, in my heart, Red Square is very big. ”

I scratched my head and said apologetically, "I'm sorry for what I just said. “

Ekaterina waved her hand and smiled: "It's okay, if you really want to apologize, please invite me to eat." The Gum department store sells ice cream, which is delicious. ”

I turned my head to look at the beige, palace-like building not far away, and smiled and made a nondescript knightly invitation to Catherine

"Beautiful lady, I wonder if I have the honor to invite you to an ice cream at the Gum Mall?"

Ekaterina laughed as she walked in the direction of the Gum department store.
