Chess basics: Four-bellied black man - cannon

Cannon - one of the seven pieces of chess with an attack power similar to that of a horse.

Until the time of the Ming Dynasty, people paid attention to the cannon, thinking that the ability of the cannon was stronger than the horse, and the attack power of the cannon was exerted to the extreme in the Ming Dynasty, but in the Qing Dynasty, the role of the horse was completely opened, and the attack power of the horse was gradually better than that of the artillery, and the attack power of the horse was only maintained in the opening stage, so there was a saying that the Ming people were heavy artillery, and the Qing people were heavy horses.

However, the cannon is a long weapon, the horse is a short weapon, in terms of defensive ability, the role of the cannon has always been stronger than the horse, this has been recognized both before and in modern times. Why are there heavy artillery, heavy horses, and not heavy vehicles? It is because although the power of the rook is huge, the attack method is too single, the attack direction is too obvious, and the difference in chess strength is not very large, the rook generally does not receive the expected effect.

In an ideal state, there are 17 positions that can be walked to by the cannon, but there are only four positions that can be attacked, front, back, left, right and left, because the cannon is eaten by the intermittent son.

Under certain conditions, the cannon can go more than the rook can go, because the rook can only go to the place where there are subs on each line, but the cannon can go over the subs that stand in the way to attack the subs behind them.

Although there are two ways to move the cannon, there are two ways to move and eat pieces, but the name of the sergeant is the same in chess.

The cannon is called the same as the car.

If the cannon is called on the 5th road - cannon 5.

Go forward 4 squares and call - cannon 5 into 4.

Backwards 1 square is called - cannon 5 back 1.

To the left to the 6 road is called - cannon 5 flat 6.

To the right to the 4th road called - cannon 5 flat 4.

The way the cannon eats just confirms the proverb -- there must be a road before the car reaches the mountain, and I think the cannon is fired across the mountain.

So the cannon's actions are unpredictable, looking ahead and suddenly behind, just like a black-bellied man, you never know what he will do to damage you next.
