Chapter 2 Preparation for travel
The report of the garrison can be summed up like this.
Today, in the three locations of Crossbell Autonomous Prefecture, there have been demonic beast infestions, and it is currently suspected that it is a wolf-shaped demonic beast.
The first victim was in the village of Almolica, in the middle of the night three weeks ago. Canine tracks can be found all over the village, but not in the surrounding area. Crops have been damaged and livestock have been attacked. Sightings were none, as it was too late and all the villagers had gone to bed.
The second victim was at the Medical University of Santa Ulsla, late at night a week ago. The venue was on the hospital grounds, where an intern doctor was attacked and wounded, and was found the next morning by hospital staff. The victim witnessed what appeared to be a black wolf. However, there was no trace of the scene, and since the testimony was vague, it was possible that the victim had mistaken it.
The third victim was in the mining town of Maynz, two days ago at around 10 p.m., in front of the tavern, where a miner who was about to return home was attacked by a monster. Residents witnessed the fleeing wolf, and a large number of footprints were left at the scene, similar to those of the village of Almolica.
"It's really happening everywhere......" Ellie looked solemn. But there is almost no coverage in the media. β
"Hmm...... It seems that it is not an ordinary Warcraft invasion incident. Randy nodded. It's a bit strange to say that. If it's just a simple invasion of monsters, then at least there will be relevant reports to make citizens pay attention to travel safety and strengthen the security force of night patrols.
So, there should be some black hand manipulating the intelligence. You can only think about it like this, right?
"Wolf-shaped monster...... Seems to be a breed endemic to Crossbell? Theo tilted his head and looked at Yuu Tatsumi with bright yellow pupils, he shrugged his shoulders and said, "So, I really haven't seen a wolf-shaped monster in Liber...... If it's a canine or a lion-shaped monster, I've seen it. β
"Then, let's not talk about this for the time being, if there are footprints, it must be a real monster." Lloyd concluded.
"However, the garrison doesn't seem to have found a similar monster......" Ellie remembered the garrison's report just now, without mentioning a more precise description.
"Hidden whereabouts? It's really quite cunning. Randy sighed and fell down.
"Probably not. If there is such a high level of hidden skill, there is no reason to attack humans. You Tatsumi rationally analyzed: "If there is such a high level of intelligence and ability, and it is a group life, the general situation will be far away from humans, if it is said that the expansion of the village destroys the habitat, then the Ursla Medical University and the mining town of Mainz can not be said, one is not expanded, the other is the mining area, and the development direction is mainly underground." β
"Sure enough, there are many doubts......" Lloyd sighed, his expression darkened, if it was a big brother...... No, you have to solve it on your own occasionally. Wait a minute? By "me"...... to solve?
"So, everybody...... If you look at this Warcraft infringement incident from the perspective of 'handling the case', will you find some key points? Lloyd spoke his thoughts word for word.
Ellie Landitio was stunned, and her puzzled gaze turned to Lloyd.
"Oh, that's good. Do you want to change it to the investigator's point of view? You immediately agreed. Lloyd nodded and continued: "If this is a case, then, who is the prisoner?" β
"Needless to ask, of course it's these wolf-shaped monsters." Randy said with a smile.
"So, what about the identity and motives of the prisoners? What do you guys think? Lloyd's gaze became serious.
"This ......," Randy was speechless, saying that the purpose of these wolves was indeed difficult to understand. Say it's a lack of food? However, Warcraft generally feed on Qiyao Stone, and with the reasons mentioned earlier, it is difficult to understand why they would attack humans.
"I see, it's our job to find out the lack of information, right?" Ellie smiled, revealing her white teeth, her soft eyelashes casting a soft shadow over her emerald eyes, and Lloyd was momentarily stunned.
Finding that the air was silent all of a sudden, Lloyd hurriedly concluded: "In short, according to this line of thought, the hidden truth will definitely be found." β
Seeing that the five of them had almost finished talking, the kitchen door suddenly opened, and a pink figure ran quickly in front of Lloyd, snapped, and put down a cup of coffee. He immediately fled back to the kitchen, hiding his body behind the door, carefully revealing a pair of bright eyes to spy on Lloyd's reaction.
It's Rui. A poor girl who lives in the Special Mission Support Section as a servant of Yuki Tatsumi.
She is wearing a pink floral dress, a white hooded sweatshirt and white flat booties today. This is the previous Rainbow Theatre Dancer, Miss Lixia helped her choose the pairing.
"Huh?" Lloyd didn't react, but smiled hehehe: "Looks like Rui likes you very much, Lloyd-kun." β
This girl, who is accustomed to slave life, has become autistic and fearful in a free world, and can only express her feelings in this somewhat strange way. Rui, it seems, likes Lloyd.
"Star......ing" Ellie, Theo, and Randy's gazes converged on him almost at the same time, and if gaze was also a weapon, Lloyd would have turned into a sieve.
What a dangerous man. Ellie looked at Lloyd's lovely face. The profession is good, and this optimistic and positive and a bit dull personality is really dangerous for women. What about female public enemies.
Theo's thoughts were similar. It's just that she is more envious. Sure enough, I'll try to make coffee next time. Theo looked at the god-like faces of Lloyd and Guy and quietly made up his mind.
Damn it, I'm sitting here! Even if it weren't me, I should have brought coffee to that guy! Why Lloyd! This damn male public enemy! Randy was indignantβbut the indignation didn't seem to be going in the right direction.
As everyone knows, Lloyd, who has risen from the "Captain of the Support Section" to the "Public Enemy of Mankind", felt that the gaze concentrated on him was becoming more and more sharp, so he quickly took a big sip of coffee and diverted his gaze from looking at them. He tried to defend himself, but he had no idea why he was being treated in such a strange way.
"Alright, guys, the first goal now is to help the garrison find out the truth." You didn't have the consciousness of the starter, and turned the topic back. "So, what should be the first step?"
"How? β¦β¦ How about going to the village of Almolica, where the first case occurred? Lloyd tried to ask rhetorically. Yu Tatsumi smiled: "You are the captain." β
"Well, let's go to the scene of the crime first, and actually take a look? I think it's good. Randy propped himself up with his hands and pushed himself away from the table.
"Still, set aside two hours for now." You put forward a different view.
"Why?" Ellie was stunned, she didn't quite understand why she did this, theoretically speaking, she should hurry up and go to the place of the crime to collect evidence?
"Can you understand, Lloyd?" Without a positive response, Yu threw the question to Lloyd. The brown-haired teenager smiled a little awkwardly: "I'm sorry, I was negligent - because we couldn't get to the scene of the crime 'in the first place', right?" β
Lloyd deliberately reinforces the qualifier of the first time. Seeing that others were still a little puzzled, he patiently explained:
"When handling a case, it is most important to rush to the scene of the crime as soon as possible, but before us, the guard team has already completed this step, so we don't need to rush over it so quickly. Therefore, instead of rushing over immediately, what we should do is to solve today's support mission. β
Listening to Lloyd's explanation, the other people's faces showed a look of sudden realization, and Randy whistled: "That makes sense." β
"Do you prioritize time-critical tasks?" Ellie muttered softly to herself, nodding her head in agreement.
Theo's eyes also showed admiration.
"Moreover, this task is to be carried out outside the city, so in order to deal with all kinds of unexpected situations, you should be fully prepared." Yu added a point, which was unanimously approved by the other four.
"So, let's assign the task." Lloyd said, looking at Theo.
Theo nodded, and said in a light tone, "Today's support tasks are relatively small, the administrative district, West Street, and IBC. IBC, please let me come along, I'm just about to submit a report. β
Lloyd nodded in agreement, and suddenly found a question: "Theo wants to go to the IBC to submit a report?" β
"Well, because my head is at IBC." Theo explained, her delicate eyebrows moving slightly, probably upset that Lloyd's mouthful questioning had caused her to need additional explanation. Lloyd could only smile awkwardly.
"Then, leave West Street to me!" Randy suddenly volunteered.
"Well, leave it to me, Randy - West Street is too close to Happy Street." You suddenly debunked Randy's little abacus, and Randy glared at him fiercely. Lloyd also sighed, "Randy, don't be lazy. β
"Yes, yes, yes, Captain." Randy dragged a long note weakly.
"Then, I'll go to West Street with You." Lloyd said and stood up. "The client of West Street is my friend."
"Then, I'll go with little Theo......" Before Randy could finish speaking, he was coldly interrupted by Theo: "No need, I can go there alone." β
"Woo, I'm hated......" Randy looked at Ellie with a hurt look, "Then, Miss, you're definitely not going to refuse me, right?" β
"That's a maybeβno, no, no." Originally, she wanted to tease Randy, but seeing his devastated expression, Ellie quickly changed her words.
Looking at Randy, who was a little suspicious of playing tricks, Lloyd's heart swelled with warmth. Although the way everyone gets along is a little peculiar, there is no doubt that this is the companion. This warm feeling strengthened the brown-haired boy's heart, and he coughed lightly and made a concluding speech in the manner of a captain.
"Then, let's split up, solve the task as soon as possible, and then gather in the support department, and then go together to prepare for the trip."
"Yes!"
He was answered by four affirmative voices.
ββββββββ
What the five people didn't know was that just after the support section left, two people were hovering in front of the support section building.
"Is this it?"
"It should be."
"It doesn't look like there's anybody."
"So, just wait for them to come back, right?"
"Well, that's fine."
