CHAPTER XLVII

Caroline thinks the old saying is true, curiosity kills cats.

She and Mr. Darcy stood side by side in the doorway of a shop with the Gothic name written on it and a line of small print underneath the name, which read, "Give you a wonderful experience."

This was not a serious place to look, and Caroline frequently cast her eyes on Mr. Darcy, who was unmoved, her brown eyes fixed on the door.

"Sir? What are you? ā€

Darcy pursed his lips and was silent for a moment before speaking, "Miss, you must come with me." ā€

Co-authored or my pot?! Reasonable, sir! Caroline twitched the corners of her mouth, she had asked Mr. Darcy at the time, and he himself said that there was something that needed to be confirmed, and that it would be great if Miss Caroline could be together.

Well, hints count as well!

So she followed...... Now, it seems like a mistake.

Darcy didn't give her a chance to regret it, and as soon as the man grabbed Caroline's wrist, his thin lips opened lightly, "Miss (you came with me/You are my person)." ā€

Caroline blushed, coughed dryly, and motioned for him to let go, "...... Mr. ā€

A man suddenly came out of the door, and Darcy let go of his hand that had been trying to escape, straightened his clothes and looked at the visitor.

It was a gentleman, who looked very mature, smiled with small wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, and he was neatly dressed, but it was the style of previous years, indicating that although he was concerned about appearance, he was suffering from the recent financial difficulties.

After simply judging the identity of the person who came, Caroline felt that this should not be the boss, maybe a person in charge.

But the man quickly disproved her reasoning, and he introduced himself to Darcy as the owner of the shop.

"Then you're Mr. Brown." Darcy said lightly, "I'm Fitzwilliam Darcy, sir, can I go in and talk?" ā€

it! Mr. Darcy who took the initiative to attack!

Caroline was dumbfounded, sir, you are so handsome! Please allow me to kneel and lick my thighs!

The smile on Mr. Brown's lips froze, and he politely refused, "Mr. Darcy, you and this young lady have not made an appointment before, and most of our guests here have reservations. ā€

Darcy looked at him coldly, "If that's the case, then you and Mrs. Brown are really far from the same. ā€

The face of the gentleman on the other side deteriorated a lot, and Caroline silently turned her head as if she couldn't see it, she was afraid that she would shake Mr. Darcy's shoulder if she couldn't help it, and replace my male god who looked ascetic and cold!

Mr. Brown smiled reluctantly, "Sir, you and Gina know each other?" ā€

"It's a bit of a friendship." Darcy was noncommittal, "Didn't Mrs. Brown sue you?" ā€

- Sir, you're really not here to pull hatred, are you?

Caroline could almost imagine that the poor gentleman was going to smoke with a touch of green on his head, are you okay?

And, she didn't expect Miss Gina to be Mrs. Brown, look what she found?! It's Madame! Then her blatant cheating behavior really needs to be carefully examined.

Why? Caroline's eyes crossed with thought.

Darcy, who had been keeping an eye on Miss Caroline, also hooked the corners of his lips, and he knew that his young lady must be the smartest.

Yes, his miss.

What a wonderful title, he didn't want to call her in his heart anymore, such a title should be said, shouldn't it? Get a response from the young lady and see her flushed face and charming eyes.

From the beating of the tip of his tongue to the swallowing of his throat, every cell poured out the longing of his heart.

Every time he thought about this, Darcy felt that his heart was so hot, the cold side had been far away from him, and he couldn't wait to know the result, which was a rare desire for him. Hope.

Mr. Brown on the other side was already sweating on his forehead, and he didn't know what Gina was doing outside, but he knew that people like Fitzwilliam D'Arcy were either rich or expensive, and they were his potential customers, and there was no reason to refuse such a business.

But his arrival was aggressive, and Mr. Brown did not dare to take it lightly, he hesitated, tentatively spoke, "Gina has been busy lately, sir, do you know her?" ā€

"We don't know each other, we've only met a few times." Darcy denied the claim, and he didn't want to have anything to do with the young lady, no, the lady, in public or private.

"Sir, aren't you doing business?" Caroline then spoke, not to disgrace Mr. Darcy, although it was not clear what Mr. Darcy's purpose was, but she believed that the righteous Mr. Darcy would not do anything wrong.

That's it, that's what it feels like, that's what it feels like.

Miss Caroline Bentley was always like this, unconsciously sending him a signal that she trusted him.

Why is it unconscious?

Darcy was helpless, look, although the young lady spoke like this, she was more like she was stating a fact than boasting about him, and Darcy was sensitive to this.

But so what?

Miss Caroline trusted him, and that was enough to please Darcy.

"Business...... It's to be done. Mr. Brown paused, glancing at Caroline, and deciding that he didn't need to be so careful, gestured, "Please." ā€

###

Opium

At this time, the opium business was legal, but it was a niche, and there was no market for it in Britain, and it was thought that it was not as good as coffee.

The market for this thing in the East was unexpectedly wide, and the people were influenced by the first overseas merchants to want to do such a business, and gave their wealth to ships.

The sea is windy and rough, and nothing can guarantee it.

Gina Brown is one such person.

They do just that, and Mr. Hopkins, makes them loyal customers.

Mr. Hopkins, with such a large factory, would naturally be welcomed by the Browns, but they did not expect that the old Hopkins, who had gone bankrupt in the factory, would directly rob the ship and load the goods they had shipped to the East.

In desperation, the two could only find the factory in Upper Hopkins, Kent, but what awaited them was the news that the factory had gone bankrupt on strike.

In such a situation, the arrival of Colonel Fitzwilliam and Mr. Darcy was nothing short of a blessing.

Gina Brown was instantly moved, such a big piece of fat sheep, really don't you want to slaughter it?

When Darcy noticed that something was wrong, he immediately asked his servants to check it out, and sure enough, he found Michelle Hopkins's deposit, so Gina Brown's lie was self-defeating.

He only pretended to agree, in order to delay time, after all, he could feel that Charles really had pity for this young lady, and Colonel Fitzwilliam, and his friend, also had a sincere relationship.

Caroline came out of the store and saw what she had just seen. Domestic violence? Marriage change?

Gina's crying appearance is really touching, but it's a pity that Caroline has no sexual interest in women, she just admires it. Beauty is still a beauty when she cries, but it's not her thing.

As soon as he went out, Darcy felt the eyes of the young lady on the side, there was a slight weirdness in them, and he only felt uncomfortable, as if he had been penetrated by something.

He endured it, but he couldn't hold back, "Miss, what are you doing?" ā€

Caroline touched her chin, "I can't see it, Mr. Darcy, you still have the potential to cause trouble......

Darcy: "...... Don't talk nonsense, miss. ā€

"Don't let people tell the truth yet!" Caroline pretended to be aggrieved, her big gray-green eyes widened, as if she could cry as soon as Darcy said no.

"...... "What else can I do with this?!" Darcy moved his lips helplessly, and finally made an appointment look.

Caroline chuckled, feeling a lot better all of a sudden.

"I was wrong sir." She whispered as Mr. Darcy walked ahead of her, and from her angle, she could just see the man's straight spine, bulging out and sexy.

The gentleman in front of him paused, and an emotionless voice came, "Are you wrong?" No, Miss didn't do anything, why apologize? ā€

Caroline was speechless for a moment, she didn't know why she apologized, but she couldn't help but apologize when she saw Mr. Darcy.

"Just take it as my apology? To misunderstand you and Mrs. Brown. ā€

Darcy stopped abruptly, turned his head, and said in a somewhat unbelievable tone, "What did you say, Miss?" ā€

Caroline was startled and nearly hit him headbutt.

"Huh? I—I mean I misunderstood......" She said dryly, not understanding what the man was struggling with.

It turns out that you are also jealous, so can I think that you care about me?

Darcy thought to himself, and the corners of his lips rose irrepressibly.

Caroline: ...... This gentleman is not sick, is he? When the old king next door is so happy???

Before Caroline could recover from her dazed state, Mr. Darcy stole another thunderbolt, and she was directly stunned.

"Miss Caroline, I have something to tell you." Darcy said slowly, "This matter has been bothering me for many days, every day I don't think about it, I just don't think about it in my head, it has brought me to the brink of collapse, I am afraid that if I don't say it, I will regret it for the rest of my life, but if I say it, I may regret it, this contradiction is very contradictory." ā€

It was obviously not a good place to talk, but Darcy didn't have the energy to think about whether what he was doing was right or not, and whether the timing was accurate.

He clenched his fists nervously, and found that his palms were sweaty, and it was really hot in summer, even in England.

Darcy thought of many things in a moment, Miss Caroline, who rejected Baron Hall, who was short of a diamond ring, social balls, George Wickham, Elizabeth Bennett, falling horses in the suburbs, the rush of afternoon tea, and the smiling face of Georgiana.

Eventually, he returned to that afternoon.

There was sunlight outside the window, the weather was tepid, and the shadows of the trees were gently swayed by the breeze.

The old door creaked open, and a beam of light fell through the crack and hit the lace dress.

He looked up and crashed into a sea of gray-green.

"Marry me, Miss Caroline."
