It is a unique product of the Southern Song Dynasty and later spread to Japan. It is now housed in the Seikado Bunko Library in Tokyo, Japan. The Japanese loved this Chinese artifact and were so impressed by the magical pattern that they used the phrase "universe in a bowl" to describe the bowl in praise.

The pattern of this bowl due to the natural kiln change is like making people look at the brilliant starry sky by the sea in the middle of the night, and the starry sky is deeply hidden with thousands of mysteries, just like the unknowable vast universe!

It is said that there were two such miraculous tea bowls, and when they spread to Japan, they immediately became a treasure sought after by princes and nobles. One of them was acquired by Oda Nobunaga of the Warring States of the Azuchi-Momoyama period in Japan, but unfortunately this treasure was destroyed in the famous Honnoji Rebellion. The other was acquired by Tokugawa Ieyasu and later given to his nurse Kasuga Bureau by the third shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu.

In the Meiji period, the Yaobian Tenmu tea bowl was tossed and turned several times, and it came into the hands of Mitsubishi President Koya Iwasaki, but he thought that this bowl was a famous weapon in the world, and he was not worthy of using it, so he could only watch it, so although Koya Iwasaki owned this tea bowl, he never used it to drink tea in his life. It is worth mentioning that the Yaobian Tenmu tea bowl is also known as "Inaba Tenmu" in Japan.

The so-called "Yaochang" refers to the fact that the successfully fired black porcelain can glow with yellow, blue, green, purple and other colors on the surface film under the light. However, in order to create a rainbow-like effect on the surface of the finished porcelain, a very thin film of iron crystals must be formed during the firing process. It is a pity that after the fall of the Southern Song Dynasty, this porcelain-making process was lost.
