3. Chapter 3: Conversation
The knock on the door alarmed Asami, who was half asleep.
She wore a summer short-sleeved top and stepped on a pair of cheap slippers, rubbing her eyes as she pushed open the door. When the old metal-colored doorknob was turned open, it creaked disobediently. This makeshift bungalow is located in a corner of the campus, facing the shade, with little light, and although it is not convenient to dry clothes, it looks cooler in the summer.
"Good afternoon, Asami."
The young man standing at the door greeted her a little shyly.
Takahashiji wore a brand-new shinobi vest with no scratches, cuts, or dirty dirt on it, and the swirl armbands on his arms were brightly colored. His slightly curly black hair is also very soft and clean, and there is no greasy feeling at all.
"Ahh Asami fumbled and put her glasses on the bridge of her nose and asked, "Is there anything wrong?" Well. β
"Today is the inauguration ceremony of the four generations of Hokage, aren't you going to watch the ceremony?" Takahashiji asked, looking down at his toes uneasily.
"yes." Asami suddenly remembered that there was indeed such a thing today.
As they had guessed during the war years, the once-famous Bo Feng Shuimon had indeed become the next Hokage. A young and good leader who can bring new life to the village.
"It seems a little far." Asami looked up, narrowed her eyes, and barely saw the red faΓ§ade of the Hokage Building through the lenses and the undulating roofs of several buildings. She closed the door with her backhand and walked out on her plastic slippers: "Follow me." β
Takahashiji followed Asami and walked up to the roof of one of the school's buildings. Although the sun was shining, they could see the Hokage Building where the succession ceremony was being held without hindrance. The upstairs and downstairs were full of people, the ninjas downstairs looking up at the new Hokage, and the people upstairs looking at their new leader with approval.
Takahashiji tried to reach for the railing of the rooftop, but soon retracted his hand from the hot heat. While looking in the direction of the Hokage Building, he said in an interview, "...... The war is over, and many people are putting the long-delayed marriage date on the agenda. β
"Whoa."
"I thought we were going to die in the war."
"Whoa."
"Don't you want to get married? Asami. Takahashiji plucked up his courage and asked.
ββ¦β¦ How to say it. Asami wiped her sweaty forehead and said, "Humanity will die one day, and I will die one day." Getting married means that my death will make another person miserable. β
Takahashiji was silent for a while and said, "Asami, you can't always be so pessimistic. Humanity does die, yes - but it's time for peace. I mean, there's at least a long time left before you die......"
"No, I'm going to die." She succinctly interrupted Takahashiji's words.
She's going to die.
"Huh?" Takahashiji was startled and sighed again. He said in a low voice, "...... You're too pessimistic. Moreover, he always inexplicably resists the approach of others. Obviously, we are all companions who have managed to survive the war together. β
"Probably because I'm just a normal person." Asami said, "The kind of ordinary person who is ordinary from name to identity does not deserve more attention from others. Seriously, Temple, don't pay too much attention to me as a friend. Maybe one day, I will disappear from everyone's life completely. β¦β¦ Of course, the disappearance of an ordinary person will not attract the attention of others. β
"No, you're not ordinary at all, remember......" Takahashiji was still trying to argue something, when a steady call came from the staircase leading to the rooftop, which made him stop what he was saying.
"Miss Futagawa."
Asami and Takahashiji turned around together, only to find that it was a man wearing the uniform of the security unit. He stood in the shadow of the stairwell, not taking the initiative to step into the daylight, apparently a leader accustomed to being courteous.
Asami confirmed his identity and took a few steps towards the stairs. She put one hand on her forehead to shield herself from the scorching sun, and walked in front of the man in a few steps. Asami lowered her head and said hello, "Mr. Fugaku." β
"I was expecting you to attend the inauguration ceremony of the fourth generation." Uchiha Fugaku coughed, pushed the child behind him out, and said, "I haven't officially thanked you yet, I heard that you were transferred to the ninja school, so I took the liberty to come and disturb." β
At some point, the Hokage's inauguration ceremony has ended.
ββ¦β¦ I didn't expect to show up like that. Asami spread her hands.
It's a little embarrassing.
Fu Yue was neatly dressed and meticulous from the team badge to the family emblem. She was wearing short-sleeved shorts and a pair of plastic slippers on her feet. The long red hair was tied up in a messy ponytail.
"This kid ......" Asami's eyes fell on the boy under Fugaku.
He lowered his gaze, not scanning around with curiosity and restlessness like the other children, and looked polite and docile. The palms and arms are white and clean, and the clothes on the body are neat. Unlike the naughty kids Asami was used to, he looked quite quiet.
"He's my eldest son, and it's called Itachi." Fugaku patted Itachi on the shoulder and said, "He will also be enrolled this year, and if you're lucky, he might become your student." Thank you very much for your care during the war. Itachiβ"
The dark-haired boy bowed very standardly, his hands on his legs. When he lowered his head, he revealed a fair and clean neck, and his short black hair rubbed against the neckline.
"Thank you very much for your help, Miss Futagawa."
It's obviously a very immature voice, but it uses the same tone as an adult, which makes Asami a little unbearable.
What a precocious child.
"It doesn't have to be like this." Asami hurriedly said, "Itachi is also very courageous and wants to save a child who may be heavier than himself in the fire. This kid will definitely become a good ninja in the future. β
"A good ninja like Miss Futagawa." Fugaku replied politely.
"NoβI'm just a normal guy, belch." Asami laughed, and with one hand she held her glasses, which had slipped down the bridge of her nose.
The Uchiha Itachi straightened up and quietly followed Fugaku's side. He finally couldn't bear the child's nature, and began to look at Asami with some curiosity, as if he had some questions to ask, and he couldn't say it because his father was by his side. When the greetings of the adults were enough, he followed his father and left.
Looking at the back of the patriarch of the Uchiha clan leaving with his eldest son, Takahashiji said in a whisper: "Asami, the relationship between the Uchiha clan and the center of the village is not very good. You're ...... like that."
"It's fine." Asami said, "It's just saving a child." β
The Hokage's inauguration ceremony was over, and there was no need to stay on the rooftop to be exposed to the scorching heat. The two walked down the stairs down the rooftop, chatting about the old days of the war as they went, the sound of tapping footsteps and small conversations echoing through the hallway.
"Where did Junko go?"
"I'm still in the captain's team, so I might continue to serve as an ordinary ninja."
"Have you been to the newly built Heroes Cemetery?"
ββ¦β¦ Been there. There are too many tombstones, and I can't find anyone I want to see. β
"Do you really want to stay at the ninja school and be a teacher with a modest salary who plays with the children? Asami. β
"Whoa...... Yes. It's a good job, it's ordinary and simple, and it sounds great. β
Γ
It's a good job, it's ordinary and simple, and it sounds great.
Knowing that things would turn out like this, Asami would never set up a flag and wait to slap herself in the face.
"Asami! Asami! Did you get the backup of the list of freshmen? I didn't...... Will you give me another copy? β
"Asami, I can't move...... I'm about to be crushed by this stack of texts. β
"Asami...... How do you pronounce this student's name? Is there really this katakana? β
It's not simple at all, it's not ordinary at all.
The noisy shouts, crowded into her ears, accompanied by the air that still had residual heat, made Asami become drowsy. The pen in his hand fell on the table with a click, and a diagonal ink was drawn on the list of freshmen. It wasn't until she accidentally hit her head on the desk that she woke up again.
The door to the office was wide open, and the hallway outside the door was bustling with ninjas and the parents of the students. As the start of school approaches, the originally empty ninja school is gradually getting busy. As the first new semester after the war, the year suddenly saw a large number of children who needed to be placed in school, ranging from four to seven years old.
Asami straightened the list in her hand, wiped her glasses clean with the glasses cloth folded next to the desk, and then walked out of the office with her roster. She was dressed in a neat ninja attire - she had to wear long sleeves and a waistcoat in the summer, and she wore ninja shoes with leggings tied up, which was a bit uncomfortable.
"Asami, why are you still here?" A passing colleague stood at the top of the stairs and urged her, "Hokage's Excellency is here, go downstairs quickly." β
In the open space behind the gate of the ninja school, a large group of people stood in the dark. On the door of the teaching building, a banner has been prepared for a long time, and the words "opening ceremony" are upright and bright. On the branch of a tree on the side, an empty swing hangs.
The clearing began with a group of children of all heights, turning their heads restlessly, searching for their loved ones, or looking around curiously. Then there were the parents who came to watch the ceremony, standing there in a slight commotion from a short distance. Asami's footsteps as she went downstairs didn't catch any of them's attention.
