Chapter 388. Shulin Conference
The entire "Shulin Conference" is on display in the Lu family's private villa, which is about 10,000 square meters and is located near the Jinling Mountains. Pen & Fun & Pavilion www.biquge.info
But now, in the golden autumn of October, so many people have flocked to the venue, climbing the mountain, taking the car, and some directly taking shortcuts and hurrying to the venue.
Lin Yi took the invitation and dressed up a little--- specifically sticking his beard, after all, he knew Lu Sanye, to be precise, it was very wrong, he should have avoided coming here, but he couldn't bear the bookworm in his stomach, and the bookworm was troubled, so he took Huang Rong and Cao Yidao and also came to this "Shulin Conference".
After coming, Lin Yi knew what it meant to be "there are mountains outside the mountains", and he originally thought that the ancient book exhibition he held last time was magnificent enough, but compared with Lu Sanye, it was really small.
Not to mention anything else, the number of people who came to watch it alone was tens of thousands, and it is said that the ancient book version of the masterpiece of calligraphy and painting on display was even more numerous, so that even the leaders of the major provincial and municipal museums came to watch it in person.
Although Lin Yi exhibited many rare books, the overall exhibits were relatively single, unlike this time, there were many celebrity calligraphy and paintings, jade antiques, which can only be seen in museums and auction sites, and are also the favorite collections of many big collectors.
As the saying goes, gold is hidden in troubled times, and calligraphy and paintings are hidden in prosperous times. It's as simple as that.
Lin Yi dressed up in disguise, the effect was still obvious, at least he was not recognized in front of so many people, and when he checked the invitation, the other party only glanced at him slightly, to be precise, he spent more time looking at Lao Cao, no way, Lao Cao's bright big bald head, coupled with his face full of meat, even if he said to others that he was a great good citizen, people did not necessarily believe it.
Entering the venue of the Shulin Conference, after reading the introduction of the event, Tu Linyi knew that it was divided into three exhibition halls, which were ancient books, calligraphy and painting, and the four treasures of the study. That is to say, the first hall exhibits all the rare books, the second hall exhibits celebrity calligraphy and paintings, and the third hall is some antiques and miscellaneous, the four treasures of the study.
With the flow of people, Lin Yi took Huang Rong and Lao Cao to the ancient books exhibition hall first. Huang Rong didn't seem interested in these things, and yawned after looking at them for a while.
Lin Yi and Lao Cao watched it with relish, and the most hopeful thing for Lin Yi was the "Six Classics", but I didn't expect Lu Sanye to take it out for exhibition, and when I saw it again, Lin Yi couldn't help but feel itchy, I really wanted to break the glass compartment that was separated, and take the baby in my hand to watch it carefully.
In addition, what also caught Lin Yi's attention was an antique "Viewing Maitreya Bodhisattva's Upper Life Tushi Tianjing Shu".
As far as Lin Yi knows, this scripture has been lost in India, where it originated, and only the Chinese version is still in circulation. According to historical records, especially the Khitan Tibetan scripture version printed in the Liao Dynasty is superior. The ancient books handed down from generation to generation in the Liao Dynasty were extremely rare, and in the eyes of Lin Yi, a master of identification, the engraved book was definitely a priceless treasure, not to mention that Lin Yi himself was interested in Buddhist scriptures and the like, so he took a few more looks.
However, this ancient book was not taken out by Lu Sanye for exhibition, but the collection of Feng Wuye, who is as famous as Lu Sanye.
Feng Wuye is a thin man, about fifty years old, mentally strong, and he is also the CEO of Su K, the largest restaurant chain in China.
It is said that since the age of 9, he has been interested in collecting, but no one guided him at that time, and he did not have much money, just by virtue of his own interests, sometimes collecting stamps, sometimes collecting some other collections. Later, their school held a book fair, so he became interested in collecting books, and he also deliberately sorted out his villain books solemnly.
However, due to the "Cultural Revolution" at that time, he did not have access to more books. It wasn't until 1981 that he went to school in Shijiazhuang, and when he went to school, he found a new second-hand bookstore on the side of the road. In particular, a set of "Ancient Texts and Yuanjian", which was an ancient book printed in five colors by the ancient printing shop in the Forbidden City during the Kangxi period. He said: "When I saw this book, I realized how ridiculous it was to think that it was an ancient book that was yellowed and curled, and that became dirtier and dirtier. This set of colorful ancient books made me feel the charm of ancient books. At that time, the boss offered 80 yuan, which was tantamount to a sky-high price for Feng Wuye, who was still a student. In order to buy this set of books, Feng Wuye saved all expenses such as food money as much as possible, and saved up for 4 months to buy this set of books home. This is the first set of ancient books collected by Feng Wuye.
Feng Wuye said: "The collection should have a teacher's inheritance, I have a long history of blind buying, and I have more than 10 years without touching the door." Later, I also came into contact with some old bibliophiles, although they did not have a lot of cultural knowledge, but they have been in the book collecting industry for so many years, and they know which books are rare. Once, an old gentleman told me to buy a clear engraving book, but I thought it was nothing, it was better to have a clear engraving book. In fact, this is "The Complete Works of Zhao Zhiqian", which I later learned that it was very rare. ”
Since then, Feng Wuye's buying of books has been out of control. Whether it is new or used, as long as it is sold in the bookstore, they will all buy it back. After continuing for a while, he realized that his energy and financial resources would not be able to keep up with this, so he began to specialize in collecting rare books.
With years of collecting ancient books, Feng Wuye has made very familiar connections with Chinese bookstores and major libraries, and he has become a very popular frequent visitor to these places. He was also one of the few people in this circle who were allowed to enter the rare book library to browse ancient books
After 1994, a large-scale auction market for rare books began to take shape, and the price of ancient books skyrocketed, increasing by 100 to 500 times. The price of ancient books has risen, and Feng Wuye is also happy and worried. The good news is that the public and the market have begun to realize the value of rare books, but they are worried that they have limited financial resources and cannot afford to buy treasures worth collecting. In order to buy books, Feng Wuye, who was not very interested in business, resolutely devoted himself to the business world and opened a restaurant chain company.
"One of the main motivations for me to go to sea was that I didn't have money to buy books. I read an article by Huang Shang back then, saying that the only way to buy good books is to spend a lot of money, and the probability of 'picking up' good books in the alleys is too low and too low. This sentence made a deep impression on me. The so-called book collection cannot be sustained without economic support. ”
10 years ago, Feng Wuye often went to Panjiayuan and other thrift markets to find treasures. He once saw someone selling a set of old books at a morning market in Huangchenggen, and when he turned it over, it turned out to be the manuscript of "New Yuan History". The seller offered 200 yuan, and Feng Wuye quickly bought it, and now this set of manuscripts is worth at least hundreds of thousands of yuan. When the real thing in the thrift market was almost extinct, he turned his attention to antiquarian bookstores and auctions.
Now, among all the books in the collection, Feng Wuye is most proud of this volume of the Liao Collection "Guan Maitreya Bodhisattva Shangsheng Tushi Tianjing Shu", and this volume of the Liao Collection was obtained by him in the competition with the National Library.
Liaozang is a large encyclopedia of Buddhism, which contains a large number of Buddhist scriptures and important writings of senior monks in the past dynasties, and also records part of the history and folklore of India, the birthplace of Buddhism. This scripture has been lost in its birthplace of India, only the Chinese language is still in circulation, and the historical records are still based on the Khitan Tibetan scripture version printed in the Liao Dynasty. However, after the Liao Dynasty, these scriptures disappeared from the world.
Until the "Cultural Revolution", in the stomach of a Buddha statue in Yingxian County, Shanxi Province, many scriptures were taken out, most of which were burned at that time, and one of the discoverers secretly hid a volume of "Viewing Maitreya Bodhisattva Shangsheng Tushi Tianjing Shu". In 1974, during the repair of the wooden pagoda in Yingxian County, Shanxi, 18 more pieces of Liaozang were found from the belly of a Buddha statue. As soon as these 18 treasures were discovered, they were immediately collected by the National Museum.
The volume of "Viewing Maitreya Bodhisattva's Shangsheng Tushi Tianjing Shu", which was hidden that year, was bought by a train driver for 1,000 yuan many years later. A few years later, a collector in Beijing bought it from a train driver for another 2,000 yuan. In 1994, the man decided to sell it, and the National Library and some book lovers flocked to him. He finally raised the price to 300,000 yuan. Compared with Feng Wuye, the most powerful bidder at that time was the National Library, but because the National Library was a state organ, it had to go through a series of discussions before it could be put into practical action when purchasing. So, Feng Wuye did not hesitate to take out 300,000 yuan when the experts were still in a meeting and discussion, and finally the treasure was in hand.
Now this treasure has become a famous collection of his Feng Wuye, this collection even Lu Sanye likes it very much, and he wanted to exchange his own collection with him several times, but Feng Wuye refused. However, Lu Sanye is also obsessed with this treasure, no, it is impossible to hold this Shulin Conference and let Lao Feng take out this treasure for exhibition.
……
Feng Wuye has been in the catering business for a long time, and he is a person with a broken mouth, who likes to make long speeches, tell stories, and be reasonable. These stories made his subordinate employees yawn when they heard them, and made the book friends around him drool and envy when they heard them.
Feng Wuye is also very happy, why do you want to participate in this "Shulin Conference", Lu Sanye's favor is important, but as a big collector, it is also very comfortable to be able to take out the collection, which makes people open their eyes and envy, jealousy and hatred.
At least Lin Yi admires him, speaking of which, whether it is Feng Wuye or Lu Sanye, they are both seniors in the ancient book world, and he Lin Yi did not catch up with the eighties and nineties when the price of ancient books and rare books was full of cabbage on the street, but listening to the stories and legends of their collection of ancient books, he could feel the strong joy and the mood of picking up leaks.
Through these stories, Lin Yi can experience a kind of emotion more than others, that is, his love for ancient books.
Only book lovers will understand what it means to sit on a mountain of books, embrace a sea of books at night, and fall asleep with the fragrance of books day and night--- (to be continued.) )
