Chapter 4: Vernon's Remorse
Dudley saw what he was looking for, and walked in unconsciously, and the Diagon Alley was bustling with activity, everything was full of energy and joy, unlike the Leaky Cauldron Bar, which was a little dark and terrifying.
Once the rest had passed, Dudley looked back, and the arched passage that had begun had been restored to a solid wall.
The closest store to them now is the Crucible Shop, which has a huge plaque on itββββ Patch Crucible Shop. In addition, there is a billboard erected at the door, on which are painted with various crucibles, which really looks like an advertisement for a dollar store in the previous life.
Dudley looked through the glass window at some of the large crucibles, and it dawned on him that this thing seemed good for making soup.
"Oh, crucible, you need to buy one. Hagrid said, "But you need to go and get the wizard's money first." β
Hagrid introduced them all the way.
"Look, here you have to buy quills and ink. β
"There's all the magic gadgets you need to get your hands on. β
It didn't take long to see a shady store, if you don't know what it sells, it's hard to imagine such a good location, the store is so dark, of course, as long as you see the sign of this store - babbling owl, you won't wonder why it's so dark.
As I passed by a shop, a boy next to me exclaimed, "Wow! Look! This is the new Light Wheel 2000." β
Another kid pressed his forehead to the display case and exclaimed, "That's the fastest model!"
Dudley took a few steps and noticed that Vernon hadn't followed, standing in the storefront where he started, staring at the broomstick inside the display case.
"Dad, let's go, why don't you just look at this, do you like this very much?" Dudley said as he ran back and grabbed Vernon's arm.
"Ah, yes, of course, very much. Vernon frowned, his face gloomy, and said somewhat absent-mindedly.
Penny walked over and took Vernon's arm and smiled at him.
Dudley didn't care, after all, his heart was full of shops in Diagon Alley.
"Gringotts has arrived. Hagrid said.
"Gringotts?"
"The Wizard's Bank, there's a dragon guarding Gringotts, eh, I want a dragon too, and if you're going to have something to store, there's no safer place than Hogwarts. Hagrid answered Harry's question.
Dudley pursed his lips.
"What is that?" Harry pointed to a diminutive man in a red, gold-trimmed uniform with a swarthy face and few hairs on his head by the Gringotts gate.
"It's a goblin. They are shrewd but very unfriendly. You'll be closer to me later. Hagrid said.
Hagrid's words startled Harry.
Penny folded her arms and shook her shoulders and said, "These goblins are really unpleasant memories. β
When they entered the gate of Gringotts, they saw a second door, which was inlaid with words on the façade, probably saying not to be insatiable and unearning, thinking of robbing the bank to make a fortune, and perhaps not only wealth but bad retribution.
Hagrid pointed to the words and said, "You see, I don't think anyone is going to rob Gringotts, and whoever wants to rob Gringotts must be crazy." β
Dudley complained inwardly, "The madman has always been by your side. β
Hagrid led them to an unused counter and said, "We're going to get some money from Mr. Harry Potter's vault." β
"Got it, so did you bring the key to Mr. Harry Potter?"
"Brought. Hagrid touched his pocket and said, "I'll look for it." β
Hagrid fumbled around, but couldn't find the key, so he turned everything out of his pocket, including a teapot, a tea bag, a large bunch of keys, and a moldy dog biscuit.
Hagrid emptied his pockets and pulled out a golden key: "This little thing is here." β
The goblin took the key and looked at it carefully for a while and said, "Yes." β
"Oh, by the way, there's one more thing, for you, it's a letter from Dumbledore. Hagrid handed over a letter. He straightened his chest, "This is a Hogwarts secret. Dumbledore told me to get the contents of the 713 vault. β
The elf carefully took the letter and read it, then handed it back to Hagrid, who shouted to the side, "Pull the ring." β
"Harry still has a vault here?" Vernon asked.
"Yes, his father left it to him. Hagrid said.
Penny pulled Vernon and said, "Then we've exchanged money here, and we're waiting for you outside." β
Vernon's face was even more gloomy, and he said, "We can go and see along, oh, I'm just curious." β
Dudley looked at Vernon's face, wondering if he was trying to rob Harry's little coffer, and if he could, he would have to keep an eye on his father. In fact, Dudley was more curious, and the feeling of being blinded by the gold shiny.
Harry felt that Vernon's expression was a little catchy, which made him very uncomfortable, "But... OK. β
Hagrid just glanced at it, not worried at all, because there was no need for it.
Pull Ring led them out of the hall and through a door, where they were greeted by a narrow hallway lined with torches that lit up the entire hallway. They crossed the aisle, and there was a railroad and a small cart on the tracks.
They got into the car, this car only has the cushion, it is enchanted, when you sit on it, there will be something like a seat belt to fix you, the rest of the place is hollowed, looking down to the bottom, for people who are afraid of heights, do not sit up, the foot can not be put down directly, only the pedal in front can be stepped on. The car started, and it sped along the tracks, turning left, right, descending sharply, crossing waterfalls.
The car quickly stopped.
"Over here, Vault 687. Pull the ring and take the lead and get out of the car
Dudley got out of the car and looked at Harry, both of whom thought it was exciting, Vernon and Penny holding each other's legs limp and Hagrid shaking his head in a daze.
In front of Dudley was a round iron door, which he felt was a tall manhole cover.
The pull tab inserted the key and twisted it, and the manhole cover slowly opened.
What catches your eye is a mountain of gold coins piled up in gold. No Nat, no Sico, all Galleon.
Harry looked at the gold coin and looked a little weak, Dudley went up to help him and laughed and said, "Tyrant, let's be friends, I want to be your friend, you shouldn't care if I have money or not, after all, I don't have as much money as you." β
At this point, Vernon bumped into them and walked in tremblingly, he picked up a gold Galleon, looked at it, and said self-deprecatingly, "I'm so self-righteous and so ignorant." β
Penny rushed in and hugged Vernon and said, "It's all over, it's all right, it's all over." β
Vernon patted Penny, he moved to the wall, leaned against the wall and said slowly, "Harry, I was very disgusted with you before. That's because of your father, you have a face that is almost the same as his mold. On a Christmas night thirteen years ago......"
In 1978, Vernon and Penny got engaged, and although Penny said at the time that his family was abnormal and that there were wizards, Vernon didn't care about this, and he loved Penny.
Penny was so touched that she thought she wanted to invite her sister, who was in her seventh year at Hogwarts, to meet her future brother-in-law.
Penny writes a letter and invites them to meet on Christmas Day.
After receiving the letter, Lily and Jaime discuss how to make a good impression on her future brother-in-law
Christmas is fast approaching, and Penny's sister, Lily Evans, arrives with her boyfriend, James Potter, whom she met at school.
Vernon had been preparing for a long time, putting on his new suit, booking a fancy hotel in London, and driving his beloved car.
During the meal, Jaime spent his time talking about what he had seen and heard in the wizarding world, while Furry talked about his work and life.
As the saying goes, one mountain cannot tolerate two tigers, unless there is one male and one female. It's a bit exaggerated to not allow two tigers, but just like one person says one plus one equals one, and another says one plus one equals two, how can a man chat happily if the two channels are not together?
As they chatted, Vernon became irritable, and he thought that Jaime was making fun of him.
Vernon looked at Jaime's messy hair and thin cheeks, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. This seemed like a mockery to Vernon, so Vernon asked Jaime what kind of car he was driving, but in fact it was for show.
Cars are impossible to drive, Jaime said that he has all kinds of broomsticks, what moon dreams, what light wheel 1000, and he gives Vernon various data in detail, such as how many miles per hour different broomsticks can fly, etc.
If you're facing someone from the wizarding world, they'll just shout 666. On the other side, however, Vernon thinks that a broomstick is not just a cleaning thing. The cattle are blowing to the sky, and there is no beef to eat.
Vernon said he couldn't afford a car, and presumably he would have to live on unemployment benefits in the future.
Jaime said that he had a vault in Gringotts, which was full of his parents' possessions, all gold.
Vernon is blinded, it's all gold, do you really think you're the richest man? He thinks he's been fooled by Jaime.
Eventually, the first and last meeting ended with Vernon and Penny taking the door.
Vernon was silent for a while after speaking, he walked up to Harry, put his hands on Harry's shoulders, looked at Harry carefully and said, "Harry, I'm sorry, can I forgive me for being a fool who is so self-righteous and very ignorant, and owes you a lot of money?"
Dudley had no idea that there would be such a story.
Harry looked at Vernon, his expression changed, and finally he smiled and said, "Uncle Vernon, this is all in the past. β
Harry walked up to the mountain and held up a handful of gold coins and gave them to Dadley, Vernon, and Penny.
"Thank you very much for my aunt and uncle's adoption, although my previous life was not satisfactory, but I was really happy during this time. β
Dudley smiled, in fact, it would be good to say all this, if you hide it in your heart and don't say it, it will be like a rotten apple inside, infecting everything from the inside out.
Dudley and the others didn't accept Harry's gold in the end, and if they did, it wouldn't be a family.
Harry's Golden Garon, who had filled a bag, left satisfied, and Dudley glanced at it, the mountain of gold was still a mountain of gold.
