110 [Dahavi Slum] 2 more...
Mumbai is the capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra and is the gateway to the western part of India, as many people know. It is the most populous city in India and one of the most populous cities in the world, as many people also know.
In line with the Mumbai government's promotional tactics to attract tourists and investors, the city of Mumbai is surrounded by green hills, facing the sea, with vast seaside beaches and secluded street gardens, making the city elegant and beautiful. On the crescent-shaped coast, new high-rise buildings and old buildings complement each other.
At night, the lights are shining brightly, and the golden light is ten thousand points, so that Mumbai has the reputation of "Queen Necklace".
But out of the south of the city, full of old colonial buildings, to the world's largest slum, Mumbai's bustling scene seems like a joke.
"Good luck with Amir Hui, Amir Hui's locomotive." Amir Hui sat on his own Ciao.
It is an Italian moped, in India, cyclists are considered untouchables, motorcycles are the most popular ones, and quad bikes cannot be said to be unpopular.
However, it has been many years since box-like vehicles have ruled urban traffic. "You know it's true, vehicles have 4 wheels, but they'd rather have 2 wheels like Ciao." This sentence is now the most fashionable advertisement in the world, and it has also made Piaggio's reputation great.
Among the contemporaries of these antique cars, the Piaggio Ciao is regarded as an important symbol of the small moped range, from 1967 to 2006, produced for nearly 40 years, more than 3.5 million Ciao were produced, and the Ciao became the best-selling Italian moped in the world.
It is also a fashionable item in demand, and many Indian boys and girls will be surprised to say when they see it, cool!
So Amirhui bought him, although he bought a house, bought stocks and opened a store, he had been emptied of all kinds of expenses, and there was no extra money to buy a four-wheeled luxury car
Day 1.
The weather was not bad today, no rain and no scorching sun. It's still hot, though.
Doing motorcycle racing is an open way to go for a ride.
There was only a day or two left before the shooting, because the place where Amir Hui was going was too messy and dirty, and there was no appointment with Amir Yu Dixit.
When Amirhui's body leaned down slightly like a cheetah!
Woo woo woo --
The roar of the engine blows through the eardrums, echoing throughout the city. attracted the attention of passers-by and exploded with an extremely shocking visual impact.
Amir Hui slammed the throttle under his feet, and suddenly the gray Ciao's body shook, and then the hum of the engine quickly became thunderous, and the body was wrapped in airflow. Like a lonely boat with the stream, like a butterfly wearing flowers, it can easily shake off the cars, people and animals on the street.
At maximum throttle, the hum of the engine and the hissing of friction create the most gorgeous symphony, as if the world is changing, feel the thrilling excitement, and the thrill of the ups and downs of the heart!
From the north to the south of Mumbai, it passes through a large area of slums, some of which stretch for several kilometres, and it is said that the largest of Mumbai's slums is home to nearly 700,000 people, and the total number of slums reaches more than 80.
It's been seventeen years. Amirhui was the first time he had come to the legendary place, where he had to pass every day without stopping.
"Hum---"
Ciao's engine pulled a long hum, and then, stalled.
Many of these slums are dilapidated, shabby shacks made of old wood, canvas, plastic sheeting and linoleum, and many of them have no sewage and garbage disposal systems, leaving garbage everywhere and sanitation worrying.
The most terrible thing is that once there is a fire. The consequences are unimaginable. It is said that 5 million people in Mumbai still live in such slums, more than the entire population of Norway!
Most of the slum dwellers were migrant workers who came to Mumbai in their early years.
The slums are a stark contrast to the high-rise buildings next to the Corniche to the south.
But even in the affluent neighborhoods, most of the facades were stained, Amirhui remembered. When President Putin visited Mumbai one spring, he asked the accompanying officials why most of the buildings here were so dirty and why they didn't want to repaint them.
A few minutes later.
Met a group of black boys.
"Hello" Amirhui tried to find the person he wanted to find here, but hesitated for a moment.
Because of seeing the boy's face. I don't want to remember the garbage heap behind him. Tearing beautiful things apart is a tragedy.
If Mumbai, like Somalia, is full of gunmen, Amirhui would not be depressed, because the ruins and the war are aesthetically unified, and there is no conceptual contrast between the two things.
But the people here are not, associating the innocent smiling faces of these children with the slums, the garbage heaps, the crows in the sky and the feces all over the ground, the logic of ordinary people cannot accept it, precisely because we instinctively can't put together the innocent beauty and the tragic mess, which makes Amirhui's mind feel depressed, and the psychology feels that it is not a taste!
A white-skinned man like Amir Hui looks like a 'very noble' person, and the poor people and gangsters who live here silently watch and dare not touch it.
Amirhui observes as the men who live here squat on the ground in twos and threes to bask in the sun, and the dogs chase around among the "hills" of construction debris and household waste. The alleys here are so intricate that you often get lost as soon as you turn around. The alleys are littered with recycled waste and household garbage, emitting a strong rancid smell.
There are few sanitation facilities in the slums, with an average of one water pipe shared by every 15 households; Most residents have no drainage system in their homes, and every 1,440 people share one toilet; There is no one to remove the garbage......
Here, young boys can be seen running around naked, elderly people tripping over piles of plastic recyclables, women washing their hair at the door, girls in school uniforms and bows going to school together, and young men gathering in the open space to play cricket......
However, Amirhui knew that slums in India did not mean that the inhabitants were destitute people, who lived and worked in peace, often working or doing business in the vicinity, and even set up small workshops and became self-employed, and in some areas developed special industries and cooperatives.
Some places are famous for producing jewelry, while others are famous for producing pottery...... These slum dwellers became authentic propertied people, and some could even afford apartments, but they still preferred to live in the slums because of their "factories".
Dahawi estimates that there are 10,000 small businesses, including pottery factories, garment factories, tanneries, waste recycling companies, and more, that generate a staggering amount of GDP each year.
In the alleys, you can always see the sparks of welding and smell the smell of pastries in the dark room.
Silently watching here, almost everyone who inhabitants here has a job, and some even have more than one. But the average monthly income of residents in Dahawi is only a few tens of rupees.
Most of the income goes into the pockets of the wealthy, who don't live in Dahave at all.
Three hours later.
Hiss! The continuous grinding sound was piercing and humming, and the exhaust exhaust sound sounded again.
In Ciao's car, Amir Hui was still the only one who left, because he couldn't find the role he wanted, and he thought that since he was looking for a black man, wouldn't it be right to find a slum?
But when I really walked in here and communicated with each other, Amir Hui didn't find his host, because they were too numb, not only that, how to say it, in short, they couldn't find the host they wanted. In fact, he is also funny, generally Mumbai's scouts want to find actors, even if they are black, they will not go to the slums to find them.
Of course, living in India for so many years and never experiencing life here is also one of the reasons. As visitors say, "We pass by here every day, and we just want to see what it's like inside." ”
Seventeen years, finally got my wish, and it feels good.
Amir Hui was in a relaxed mood, "Maybe there should be a "Slumdog Millionaire" in my film history career, which seems to be not bad!" ”
"But now I still have to do my show, maybe I should go to Bollywood to find stars?!" (To be continued.) )
