Chapter 7: The Hogwarts Express
More than a month passed quickly, and during this time, Dudley spent all his time reading magic books, except for his regular meals, sleeping, and losing weight, and even took Harry with him to study under the famous silver carp effect.
Dudley didn't know if he was learning magic quickly, but in the past month or so, he had been able to use two spells, the fluorescent flickering and levitation in Standard Spell - Elementary.
In fact, in the end, he could be regarded as having learned several of them, but the other spells were not released, because he received a warning letter from the Ministry of Magic when he used Levitation to lift into the air.
The letter generally stated that underage wizards were not allowed to use magic outside of school, as well as certain regulations, which he just glanced at and threw away.
Dudley was too excited to learn magic, he forgot that there was a trace, he knew that the trace could only detect the release of magic in a certain range, and he couldn't know who it was, he was going to go to Diagon Alley to practice magic, but it took a long time to travel every day, and he wanted to stay in the Leaky Cauldron Bar, but unfortunately Vernon and Penny didn't agree, so Dudley had to give up.
On the morning of the first day of September, Dudley woke up at five o'clock and could not sleep, he was ready to go, but it was too early, and he picked up the book that had indulged him and read it, but he could not read it at all.
At half past ten, Dudley and his family arrived at King's Cross Station, where Dudley's parents helped them put the salute on the trolley and helped them get into the station.
"Platform nine and three-quarters, Hagrid must have given the wrong ticket, what are we going to do?" Harry shouted in surprise as he looked at the platform on the ticket.
"Calmly, it's between platforms nine and ten. Dudley replied casually.
"Oh, Dada, how do you know?" Perny was puzzled.
Dudley was shocked, spoiler, he said, "Nine and three-quarters, isn't it nine seven five?" and then he patted his forehead and said, "Mom, can't you call me my son, or Dudley? β
The group came to one platform with a plastic sign of nine characters on it, and a large plastic cross sign on the other platform, and there was no train to Hogwarts, only a heavy wall.
Penny pointed to the wall and said, "This is it, we can't get in without magic, you need to push the cart, just walk in from here." β
Harry said a little staccatoly, "Won't it crash?"
"Don't worry, if you're nervous, you can trot all the way. Your mother was like that. Penny said, looking into Harry's eyes.
Dudley glanced at Harry, he knew it was going to happen, but he didn't have to worry about it this year.
"I'll do it first. Dudley waved at Vernon and Penny and said, "Mom and Dad, I'm leaving." I'll write to you when I get to school. Then he pushed the cart towards the wall, and when he was about to crash into it, the cart was already inside the wall, and he took a few more steps. The whole person entered the wall.
Dudley first saw the platform nine and three-quarters sign hanging on the side of the platform, and then saw a crimson steam train with this sign on the front of the black car: Hogwarts Express, number 9572, and the platform next to the train was crowded with parents who came to see off the students.
The smoke of the steam train swirled over the chirping crowd, cats of all colors shuttled under the feet of people, and some owls carried by them also made a piercing chirp in such an environment.
The first few carriages were already packed with students heading to Hogwarts, some leaning out of the windows to talk to their families, some fighting in their seats. Dudley and Harry pushed the cart forward, ready to find an empty seat.
Dudley struggled to squeeze through the crowd and found a box near the back of the car that was empty. It took a while for the two of them to move all the boxes to the car, mainly because they had too many things.
About ten minutes after getting on the train, a whistle sounded, the train started, and the figures of the parents on the platform gradually became smaller until they were out of sight, and the houses outside the window flashed quickly. The scenery is constantly changing, and after a while, you are out of the city, and the train is running in the uninhabited fields.
The sliding door of the box opened, and a red-haired boy with a dirty nose on the tip of his nose leaned against the door and said with some embarrassment, "I'm sorry, can I sit here?" and he asked, pointing to the seat next to Dudley, "The other boxes are full." β
Dudley had to sigh at the inertia of the plot, so that he could still run into him.
"Just sit down. Dudley said, pointing to the vacant spot.
"Thank you. The boy walked in, looking a little scared, and sat alone with his head bowed against the door.
"Dude. Dudley patted the boy on the shoulder and said, "What's your name?"
"Ron, Ron Weasley. β
"My name is Dudley, Dudley Dursley. Dudley pointed at Harry and said, "This is my cousin, Harry, Harry Potter." β
Harry smiled and nodded.
Ron's eyes widened and his mouth opened in surprise, and he said, "Oh my God, Harry Potter, you... You really have that... That'sβ" Ron pointed to his head.
"What?"
"Scars. β
Harry smiled, and he lifted his bangs, revealing a scar in the shape of lightning.
Ron leaned forward and said, "Wow! β
The group quickly became acquainted.
Talking about the day, time flies very quickly. Dudley watched the sun shine directly above the earth, and he estimated that it was about twelve o'clock, because he was hungry.
There was a loud noise clattering in the aisle of the car, and a smiling woman with dimples on her face pushed open the box door and asked, "Do you want to buy any food from the car, kids?"
"No, thanks, I brought it. Ron's cheeks and ears began to redden, and he pulled out a sandwich wrapped in a plastic bag from his shabby coat.
Dudley knew that the Weasleys were living on a very tight budget, with a small salary and several children.
Dudley waved his hand and said, "We've bought them all." β
Dudley still had a lot of gold galleons to redeem at Gringotts, a cart of snacks didn't cost much, and he wanted to try all the food in the wizarding world.
Ron watched as Dudley and Harry carried the food from the cart into the box again and again, until the cart was empty, and the empty space in the box was full of food.
"Let's do it together. Dudley said, pointing to the snack, "I'm mainly trying a fresh, and Harry and I can't finish it." β
Dudley looked at the empty pile of food, including Bibi Duowei Beans, Blowboy Super Bubble Gum, Chocolate Frog, Pumpkin Pie, Crucible Row Cake, Licorice Wand, and many other bizarre foods that Dudley hadn't seen before.
The three of them ate pies and cakes, and Ron had completely ditched his sandwiches, and they talked as they ate.
Dudley complained that the pumpkin pie was not tasty, there were too many pumpkins, Harry ate the flavored beans and despised Dudley, whose pumpkin pie is not more pumpkin, is it still called pumpkin pie if there are few pumpkins?
For the food of multi-flavored beans, Dudley ate one and stopped eating it. Duowei refers to the variety of flavors, not only chocolate, mint, orange, watermelon and other general tastes, but also vegetables, meat, liver taste, if you think that only this is the very wrong, Dudley has no idea how the person who invented this food thinks there are actually smells such as boogers and earwax, this kind of food that Africans can't afford to eat.
There is also the chocolate frog, this is also a dark dish, a moving frog-like chocolate, its taste is actually okay, that is, the frog chocolate can move, when you bite into it, it will also twitch in the mouth, like eating a live, it makes people hairy, the frog chocolate will also come with a picture, you can collect it, according to Ron, he has almost saved five hundred, and there is a shortage of Agripba and Portolamy.
The first card Dudley ate was Dumbledore, and he muttered, "Old Deng is still very photogenic." β
Dudley didn't want to eat this food again, and he didn't want to collect these boring pictures, so he gave them to Harry.
Dudley looked out the window as he ate his snack, and the fields that sped past him seemed even more barren, a neat field had vanished, followed by a wood, a meandering river, and a dark green hill.
At that moment, there was another knock on their box door, and a round-faced boy walked in, his eyes full of tears.
"I'm sorry. He said, "I want to ask, have you seen my toad?"
Dudley and the three of them shook their heads, and the boy burst into tears, "I lost it again!
"It'll be back. Harry said.
"Actually, you can use ......" Dudley had already walked away before Dudley could finish speaking.
"If my spots are lost. Oh yes. Ron said as he pulled a mouse out of his coat pocket and said, "This is my pet mouseβSpotted." β
Dudley looked at the rat spots on Ron's legs, and he shivered, he couldn't imagine an old man sleeping with you in your bed all day.
"It may have died a long time ago, but it would have been the same anyway. Ron looked at the rat in disgust.
"I tried to make it yellow yesterday and make it more fun, but my spell didn't work, I'll make it for you now, pay attention......" Ron fumbled around in his suitcase for a long time, and took out a very worn wand, which was peeling off in some places. One end still glows white.
"The unicorn's fur is going to be exposed. But......." Ron looked at his wand a little sadly.
Dudley pursed his lips, the first time he saw the fur on the legendary unicorn.
Ron raised his wand and said, "Daisy ......"
