Chapter One Hundred and Two

I'll have to talk about the plate, the poor skinny dog we picked up from the desert when we were in transition.

The name of the plate was given by our cook, the reason is that the plate is estimated to be hungry in the desert, and every time the leftovers are served to the plate, the plate is devoured and eaten, and he has to stretch out his long tongue to add the plate clean.

So the eldest chef gave the name of the plate, and the brothers all agreed with the name.

The relationship between the Plate and the Wheat Brothers is the best.

I don't know if the Wheat Brothers are born with a kind of affinity, usually the brothers like to flicker a few words with the Wheat Brothers to relieve boredom, even the military dogs we raise, usually except for the military dog trainers who can not be approached, but just see the Wheat Brothers do not bark or bite. It's just that he came to the side of the Maizi brothers with his long red tongue, and the infallible novels oozing from the faces of dogs who usually look at the grits are all docile lights.

As for the plates, they follow the Maizi brothers almost every day, almost inseparable.

And the plate is sensible.

Usually, when the Maizi brothers practice, the plate will find a quiet place to lie down from afar, and watch the Maizi brothers practice from a distance. As soon as the whistle sounded to wait for the rest, the plate would trot to the wheat brothers, either to play happily or quietly......

A group of our brothers joked that the Maizi brothers had a bad quarrel with the plate, and they were really brothers in their previous lives, but the plate was mistakenly voted a dog fetus in this life.

The plate is popular, and the brothers feel distressed when they see the plate being thin, so they get some delicious nourishment for the plate from time to time. As soon as the brothers who went out to buy daily necessities entered the barracks, the first thing they did was to cancel their leave, and the second thing they did was to take out some ham, sausage, roast meat, mutton bones, or something from their pockets and throw them on the plates.

Later, even the trainers who trained the military dogs fell in love with the well-behaved plates. Every time the military dog masters finished eating, the dog trainers would bang on the basin and shout - plates, come and clean up!

The plate turned his head to look at the wheat brothers, and when the wheat brothers nodded, the plate trotted over, stretched out his tongue and licked the basin that served the military dogs.

Usually, there is enough ration for the military dog in the basin to feed a full plate.

The plate is almost the mascot of our barracks.

The brothers who trained the dog said that in fact, the plate is really a good dog, and it may even be the offspring of a serious shepherd dog, but I don't know what kind of mongrel dog it was skewered, so I got out of the behavior of a dirt dog.

But as long as it is a little training, it is not good to say that the plate can really be used as a police dog.

But the Maizi brothers disagreed.

Brother Maizi said that our masters worked hard enough when they trained, and ordinary people couldn't stand this sin. And the military dogs brought by the dog trainers and brothers have also undergone cruel training, and many military dogs have been injured, and the training of military dogs is not something that any dog can withstand!

Isn't that the old saying? Do unto others as you would have them do to you! We can't just call the plate to suffer that sin!

I remember that when the Maizi brothers said this seriously, all the brothers were stunned for a moment, and then they laughed wildly, and made all the plates bark wildly.

It wasn't long after the Wheat Brothers made this joke, and I remember that it was in September when we got an assignment to ask the brothers to go somewhere and inspect some abandoned warehouse.

In many parts of Xinjiang, there are abandoned or idle warehouses, and most of them are half-buried warehouses.

Generally speaking, these are all buildings left over from the Construction Corps. In the past, especially when tensions arose on the border, the predecessors of countless construction corps built such structures in some remote places, in case of war, they could be used as garrisons or storage materials.

But over time, many of these buildings have been forgotten or abandoned in desperation.

As a result, these buildings, which once cost countless efforts and even lives of the predecessors of the construction corps, have become places for shepherds to occasionally shelter from the wind and rain, temporary sheepfolds, and even nests for foxes and rabbits.

Not so long ago, a few shepherds occasionally found signs of human activity in the abandoned buildings. Especially in some extremely remote places, there are even people who haunt those abandoned buildings at night.

In some sensitive areas of Xinjiang, the emergence of such a situation also means the emergence of some unpredictable crises. So when the brothers went to check, they were all more careful.

But no one expected that the plates that usually stayed in the base would follow us, and they thought that they would follow us silently for nearly 100 kilometers like trained military dogs.

Along the way, we did find some oddities in some abandoned buildings.

Ordinary shepherds will never buy some boxed cigarettes to smoke, and most herders like the kind of Mohe cigarettes that they roll by hand, at most they use some relatively elaborate cigarette paper.

But in those deserted buildings, we found some foreign brands of cigarettes in more than one place.

Ordinary herdsmen like to cook or heat themselves in the open air, so as not to be uncomfortable with the smoke and fire. But in some of the deserted buildings we inspected, the improvised stove made of three stones or remnants of bricks was an obvious way to cook in the wilderness with soldiers.

Stop-and-go, with all sorts of suspicions on the outside, it was already a little dark when we got to the last building that needed to be inspected.

I remember when I got out of the car with a picnic stove, the plate swooped out of a clump of wilted weeds and unceremoniously pounced on the Wheat Brothers beside me.

The brothers are all happy, I said Maizi, you look at the plate is really your brother, just saw you come out and was reluctant, hundreds of miles of land actually followed us to run?

I said, do you two brothers have any special way of communicating?

Maizi also laughed, so he hugged the plate that pounced on him and said yes, yes, the plate is my brother, and you too, the big guy is a dog, let's not say anyone!

After laughing for a while, the Maizi brothers put down the plate and said let's hurry up, and after checking the last place, let's eat. What we brought today was not field rations, but I got a lot of ribs from the cooking grandfather, and I was going to let the brothers have a good meal, but I didn't expect to bring a plate of rations.

In the midst of the laughter, the Maizi brothers were walking towards the building with their guns in their hands, but the plate slammed over and bit on the trouser leg of the Maizi brothers.

Brothers think it's strange?

Plates are never like this, are they?

Don't......

The brothers grabbed the guys, and without further ado, they dispersed to form a defensive circle, and Brother Maizi and I alternately walked towards the building.

But the plate still bit the trouser leg of the Maizi brothers, whining from his throat, just not letting the Maizi brothers go towards the building!

That is, after less than two minutes of stalemate, Brother Maizi and I suddenly heard a strange sound, as if someone was pulling the metal with great force. Before Maizi and I could recover our senses, the half-hidden building twisted and collapsed in front of us!

Amid the roaring sound and the dust rising into the sky, only the barking of plates sounded uninterruptedly. And all our brothers stood dumbfounded in the dust, unable to utter a word......

If it's not a plate, I'm afraid we're ......

That night, we cooked a big pot of ribs next to the collapsed building, and the brothers sat in a circle and ate their eyebrows.

And the plate lay next to the wheat brothers, and the two front paws grabbed the largest and fattest piece of ribs and gnawed and creaked.
